  1. Ohh, I like it. I already have a dress, but if I didn't I'd probably order that one.

Thanks. Oh, by casual I meant more casual than a typical wedding dress. My first one was just plain casual & I didn't feel right in it. I definitly feel dressy in this one. But, I knew I wouldn't feel comfortable with a train & a full dress. Taking the digital pictures in the dressing room helped A LOT for deciding. I felt so torn between what I should do, so I showed a friend the pictures & the choice was clear. I definitly like help for making decisions, but I prefer to shop alone.

Welcome! I'm a June 08 Cancun bride too!!! We'll Riviera Maya, but close enough.
  4. I couldn't find the thread about room block vs package deals, but I found one about TAs vs expedia http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...ia-advice.html

You can usually get a cheaper deal though either priceline or a TA booking a package deal. Most of us would reccomend a TA instead of priceline, expedia, orbitz, etc. The room blocks give you other perks, such as securing rooms, free welcome receptions, discounts on services, etc. There is a great thread on here about room block vs package deals. I'll look for it. I decided to go with the package deals. I like to keep it hands off & just let my guest contact my TA & book. Cost for guest was my top priority & I think they will get some cheap packages. Oh, I should mention I'm not getting married at dreams. My hotel doesn't book up fast like dreams so it's not as much of an issue.
  6. I found this site really useful when I was picking a hotel.
  7. Thanks for always sharing your pictures. I enjoy seeing them so much. I love the expressions you capture. My favorite pictures to have are of people laughing & you always capture those wonderful moments. Looking at your blog makes me wish I persued a career in DW photography instead of research science! If I had the budget, I would definitly want to hire you to shot my wedding. Your work is amazing!!!
  8. Sometimes the heads are platinum, but not always. I wanted white gold, but my ring setting didn't come with the option to have the head be platinum. It sits up really high too, but it sort of has 8 prongs. Here is a link to a picture. I'm too lazy today to open up photobucket. The design is supposed to add security & so far I haven't had any problems. I wanted a solitare to have less stones to worry about. My mom has a bunch of diamonds & they fall out a lot. She works with her hands a bunch doing gardening & major home improvement. 61405 - Round Tulipset® Diamond Solitaire I can understand platinum would be more secure, but white gold should still be secure. It's not like it's a flimsy weak metal. And like you said, people have been wearing gold a long time.

  10. This is the kind I want too. I'm looking around for cheap options, because such a simple veil like this shouldn't have to be expensive.
  11. http://www.occanseydesigns.com/ Here is the website. It's also great for learning about all the different styles.

Is it the way it feels or the detailing on it? Maybe if you know the brand you can find it on ebay for less. Or check out the custom made veils & see if you can get something like it made.
  13. I posted my casual dress & flip flops on the wedding dress thread http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...dress-173.html
  14. My FI is working late, so I finally took pictures in my dress. I still need to get it hemmed. I wanted something really simple & casual. I was excited to find that necklace, because I thought they were starfish. Now I think they are just flowers, but they are starfish to me
  15. I think my mom wants to see me in a veil, so if I can find a nice inexpensive one I like I'll wear it. I'm sort of indifferent, so if it makes her happy I might as well do it. I think they look nice in the wedding pictures too blowing in the wind.
  16. Your description sounds just like me. I don't feel comfortable with the idea of having a wedding gown on, so I wanted something that looked like a dress I could just wear to any other formal event. At first I bought a dress way too casual. Felt more like club wear. I was always uncomfortable when I put it on. So I took it back. I found an off the rack dress at macy's that I feel wonderful in. I plan on wearing flip flops with it. I'll upload a pic soon once I get a better one. The only one I have is me taking my own picture in front of the mirror. A big reason for me wanting a DW was to not have to look like a traditional bride & be the center of attention. I cried when I put on my dress before I bought it, but I think it just might have been from the relief that I didn't have to shop anymore. Oh, & I know what you mean about sales people. I loved shopping at places like Macy's because I didn't get so much attention like you would at a bridal shop. I also went alone. I took my digital camera & took pictures of myself in the dressing room. It was nice to be able to show them to a friend and get feedback & look at them again when I got home to help me decide.
  17. I was about to start the same thread, but I did a search to see if someone already had. I bought a $10 veil at AC Moore just to take it home & see if I even wanted one. I could tell why it was only $10- there wasn't a big variety in style & it didn't fall right. I don't know how to explain that, but it didn't fall straight down at the ends, it sort of curved up like it was cut funny. Not that you could tell any of this from a distance. So I was wondering how much you have to pay to get a veil that's nice enough. Also, whats the difference was between $25 veils & ones that cost hundreds. I understand if you have crystals & pearls on it, it will cost more. But I just want a plain one. If it is going to be over $25, I think I'd just prefer to wear only a flower in my hair. I'm sort of in between if I want one or not.
  18. I know I want a flower for sure. I'm unsure about a veil. If I wear one it will be under my hair (like kelly's above). I'd want a really simple veil & I'd probably take it off after the wedding.
  19. I bought two dresses too. I was able to return the 1st one. I could just tell it wasn't right when i'd put it on. Too many things I didn't love about it. After knowing I loved the 2nd dress I found, I stopped looking. I imagine if I did I'd find something else I might want instead. So I think stop shopping once you know you have something you love. It doesn't have to be exactly what you pictured, but as long as you feel great in it that's enough to make you stop shopping. I really wanted it to be halter, but it's V neck. I probably could keep shopping & find a halter one I like as much but I'd rather just stop now. There are probably 100s of dresses you could love. But, really you just need one.

Which has happened to me. all good now though!! plus my ring is insured, so puts my mind and my fiance's mind at ease! Bed Bath & Beyond Product hmm, might register for that. how much is the cleaner?
  22. I like the 1st & 3rd on shelly just posted. I think that's what I want. I want something curly, but not really curly. My hair is straight so I don't think I'll look like me with a lot of curls. So I like when it has that curly up do look, but not really with curls. Then a part of me wants to go all crazy with the curls for once. I've never had ringlets. Maybe I should save it for a different event though. I can't wait for my hair to grow out so i can start playing with it!!
