  1. I don't think the reception needs to be a private event. How many guests are you having? If you are not having a lot, it might be more fun to be at a non private reception. I think it sounds great.
  2. I threw one where we played board games & drank cocktails. It was a lot of fun & inexpensive. I bought some snacks & alcohol & all the other bridesmaids brought over some stuff too. I took a cheap plastic tablecloth & covered it with pictures of hot men cut out from magazines. We called it the Table of hunks. At the time I was substitute teaching junior high between college semesters. I cut out the pictures while the kids did their work. I bet they thought I was crazy. Or maybe they thought I was normal, because it's such a junior high girl thing to do. I definitly have more fun hanging out at home playing games. But, I also love dancing, I just don't like clubs so I rarely dance anymore. So I think we are going to go dancing for my party. But no tiaras, veils, or penis anything!!!

Also, I had told Claudia that I wanted some photos at sunset and she told me that this isn't possible because there is no sunset I don't get it. I must be missing something. I am almost positive that I have seen other pics of weddings and it's at sunset. Am I wrong? Could she mean that you will not see the sunset because you are on the east coast? It is still pretty as the sunsets, but you will not see it set over the water.
  4. Great news! I booked my dad's trip tonight! My TA really helped me out with this. My dad's price is higher than everyone else, but it's still not a bad price. We decided that it was worth it to get the two seats & guarantee he can go than to take the risk. Last week I was pretty stressed about booking trips & all the other things that were going on. it was a busy week for many reasons. Tonight I am so relaxed & happy!
  5. have you tried websites like zappos.com? you can sort by color, height, etc. It's addicting.
  6. It's normal to second guess because there are so many places that would be wonderful. I think you have to make a decision & just go with it. Same for all wedding stuff. Narrow it down to a few choices & pick from those. Then don't look back! I find it helps to ask the forum when I'm stuck between a few options. Most often they pick the option that was my favorite in the first place.

I was concerned, though, that she quoted me a higher price than the Paradisus did. Just waiting to hear back from her to straighten that out. Who are you dealing with at the PRC? I am dealing with Perla, getting married 4/18/08. We're going down next month to meet her and finalize location, etc. Good luck! Claire That's interesting because normally you go through Claudia to do the bookings. She usually replies within a day or two.

There has to be a basic standard that is considered high enough quality and will project well when shown in a slideshow... Someone, anyone can you test it somehow? do you have access to a projector to see how it looks?

I guess I am going to have to bite the bullet and book him a room at Dreams Tulum. If anyone will be in Cancun October 25th and 26th, I have 2 extra rooms. I will sell them to you for $50 per night. Why did your photographer need two rooms?

  11. You can spend us dollars in cancun. I don't know if PV is the same. These are the different tips i have on my website. CURRENCY: The Mexican Peso is the currency in the Riviera Maya. The exchange rate fluctuates but is approximately 11 pesos = 1 US dollar. You do not need to convert your money. Dollars are just about everywhere in the Riviera Maya - sometimes prices are even given in US Dollars. When a conversion is made on a price from pesos to dollars the general practice is to equate 10 pesos to every dollar. I recomend bringing cash (including some small bills), 1-2 credit cards & your ATM card. Do not count being able to withdraw money from the ATM. They often run out of money and are not refilled over the weekend. Read the "packing list" page for more suggestions for traveling with credit cards. Leave the phone numbers & last 4 digits for your credit cards with someone so they can cancel them if they are lost or stolen. Call your credit card companies and inform them you will be in Mexico so they do not freeze your account due to suspicious activity. Inform your bank you will be in Mexico, if you plan on using your ATM card. You can ask them to temporarily raise the max on how much you can withdraw per day.
  12. I agree. I think it would look better is the colons were bigger. Also, maybe a green text for the Why Where, etc. Sort of how you used blue for #1.
  13. I am paying $1,050 for 2 1/2 hours of pictures and all my images on a CD. I am hiring Erick Rodriguez from Claudia Rodriguez's team. 2 1/2 hours probably doens't sound like a lot, but it will work for us. We are not havinga private reception, so I don't want pictures taken during dinner. So we have a photographer before the wedding to take pictures of us when we first see each other & a few more pictures while my hair & makeup are still fresh. Then they will photograph the ceremony, do some group shots & take pictures of us on the beach.

I just booked Erick for my wedding. Many other brides on the forum have used someone from Claudia's team & their pictures were great. She is also great to deal with. She returns my emails right away & is really helpful.

  16. The siggy pics that twinkle look like what my screen looks like before I get a migrain. I have to scroll to keep them off the screen or cover them with my hand. Is there an option to still get to see pictures, but block out all the ones that move?
  17. If you are worried about standing out in a group picture, you could always make the background & everyone but you two black & white. I started a thread to describe how to do it.
  18. I like the look. Other girls used beige bridesmaid dresses & it also fit the neutral look. They work because they are casual white dresses. If they were long white gowns, it might seem hard to tell who is the bride.
  19. That's claudia's husband. He does videography. I've heard he does a good job.
  20. #2. I feel like putting a gift on the STD says you want gifts. #2 is really cute.
  21. I'm from Victoria, Texas! Yay Texas!
