What hairstyle goes with my dress? :)
rodent replied to jmhein's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
I just wanted to see if I could post. I haven't been able to click to see page 2 of this all day. -
have you thought about changing the withholdings on your W4 to get some of that tax refund earlier? If you are getting a big refund each year, you probably want to adjust your withholdings anyway because you are losing interest on that money. I wouldn't want to pay all that upfront though. First, I'd start working on that problem.

How are you doing your hair?

That is why I decided against half up with the bottom curly. I never wear my hair curly. It's always in a ponytail. So I think a nice chignon will dress up my typical look, but still be me. I still really want to get ringlets someday, but I'll do it for a different occasion. -

My dress feels very greek goddess to me too. Then I realized the tag said "grecian" so that must be the look they were going for. I was thinking of this for greek goddess hair(without the gold stuff), but I don't think my hair will be long enough by then. I also want it up because it will be June & hot. To now I'll probably do the style below. I'm waiting for my hair to grow out to see how it looks with the dress. -

I cut it short right before we got engaged so i'm letting it grow out now. If I can make it look good on my own, I'll just fix it myself. If not, I'll hire someone. But, I figure it will help to bring the doughnut thing with me. Are you wearing a veil? I want to have the chignon a little higher to be able to put a veil under it. But, I hope I can easily remove it for the reception. -

Is anyone doing pictures before the ceremony?

I thought it was a real downer. Therefore, I will stay hidden away. FI and I will probably see each other before, but I don't want all the guests in on the action. I agree. I want to see my FI, but not the guests. So i'm hoping we can find a place pretty near our room to take pictures without a lot of people around. -

I've been looking for it, but I can find it. Johnathon Thrasher started a poll about this. It's where I first got the idea to do our pictures this way. -

I'd like to take some pictures before the ceremony. I like the pictures you can get before the ceremony starts. Otherwise the picture of him the first time he sees you is just of him & you are so far away. I want to be next to each other. I also think it will calm me down & help me not cry so much. I imagined we'd take these pictures somewhere near our room. I'd still like to go out to the beach for some shots after the ceremony. I think it will be nice to have that time alone (plus photographer) together right after. One thing to think about is you won't have your wedding band before the ceremony so you may not want to take all your pictures then. I'm not getting a seperate band so it doesn't really matter. -
Mine is in a white bag. I'm not to concerned with him peaking. It's hanging on the back of the closet door right now. I don't want him to see me getting ready. But, once my hair and makeup is done & I have the dress on, I don't mine if we see each other before the ceremony. I'd like to take some pictures together before the ceremony. Keeping it a secret isn't a big deal to me. Someone asked me if I got my dress yet & I started to describe it to them in front of him. Then I caught myself & realized I'm not supposed to do that.

Took me a while to find this thread http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...y-dresses.html You are definitly not alone feeling this way. I bought an off the rack dress partially to avoid having to do the whole thing at a wedding gown shop. I didn't even like checking out veils at david's bridal. I love having my dress, but I did not enjoy shopping for it.

A lot of people pay per guest for the reception even at an AI. -
Picking My Wedding Band
rodent replied to foxytv's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
I like them. Could you switch it to your right hand when you get an anniversary band? It might have to get resized though & those don't look easy to resize. My right hand is 1/2 size bigger. maybe that's just me. I think that band would look best alone. You could possible add a plain ring, but I don't think it would add anything to the look so doesn't seem worth it. Another idea is getting the other ring for your right hand. -
Is it okay to have a Stag and Doe??

The premise behind it is a huge party/fair where you sell people things to make money. It's usually about $30 a ticket with all-you-can-eat-and-drink included. There's often also a raffle or games to make money off of and provide entertainment. It's really a huge money grab but people like them. Usually a whole bunch of people you don't even know come out for a cheap night out and huge party. Oh and everyone gets REALLY drunk! The thing is that it's a lot of work for the wedding party and friends often feel obligated to buy a ticket even if they can't come. I suppose the equivalent would be a Bridal Shower. Are you guys having a Bridal Shower?? I didn't realize the bridal party planned it. it looks like a lot of work. I think the most important thing would be if your bridal party felt like doing it. If they want to & would have fun putting it together and if guests would have fun going then I think it's fine. I'm not having a bridal shower. I don't like traditional bridal showers where everyone watches the bride to be open gifts. i think they are usually boring. They also make you feel obligated to bring something. If a shower was more like a party I might like it. -
Oaxacan Pica Skirts - LaMariposa Mexican Imports - Mexican Dresses, Blouses, Sombreros, Pinatas, Fiesta Party Supplies, and Paper Flowers Dallas, Texas I bet you could find them for less than $59. Get the BDW team on it! I love the bright colors. Those are pretty much the colors I was going to let my girls chose from. Then when you decorate you can use anything you want. Anything bright will work.

They each had a black tank and the bride had about 8 bm's I believe. It actually looked very pulled together and I know it was ultra cheap. I can see going with those skirts if I can find them...anyone have any suggestions, please let me know. Sounds cute. Do you have the picture? Might want to consider letting them wear any style black shirt or pick one with sleeves. You said one of your BMs is a 24. Anytime I've been in a wedding with someone who was plus size they always wanted sleeves. I think it's important to make sure they are comfortable in what they are wearing. Are these what you are talking about?

How much do people usually pay & what do they get? Is it open bar? From reading the one description I wouldn't know how you'd make money off of it. -

My Mike doesn't care about his ring either so I don't plan on spending a lot of money on it. He would definitly not want me to.

Cleaning Precious Metals | Clean White Gold Jewelry "One of the most frequently asked questions is how to clean white gold. When white gold is sold, it is always rhodium plated. Rhodium is a hard, durable, silvery-white metal that can be polished to a high shine. This gives white gold, which is actually a very pale yellow, a very white look in the showcase and on your finger. This white look will last varying amounts of time depending on wear and tear. On earrings it can last a lifetime. On rings the rhodium will start wearing off where there is a lot of friction. This usually starts by the shank (the part of the ring that goes around the finger) starting to “turn yellowâ€. This is the rhodium wearing off. As you continue to wear the ring, all the exposed edges and corners will start “yellowing†as well. The easiest and least expensive solution to this problem is to bring it to your local jeweler or into DiamondIdeals to have the ring re-rhodiumed. The cost for this is minimal. This is a temporary solution and will have to be repeated as this new layer wears off. A more permanent solution would be to consider remounting your stones in a platinum or palladium alloy ring." If anyone goes with white gold, you can ask/negotiate with your jeweler to include rhodium dippings for some number of years. Better to go with time than number of dippings to ensure a quality dipping. Who knew?!? It's about $20-$30 dollars to have a ring redipped & it can be done in an hour. Platinum gets scratched & will need to be buffed about as often as a white gold ring needs to be redipped. Some people like the look of a platinum ring after it gets some scratches. Anyway, I didn't think the decision between white gold & platinum was easy. So I decided to go with white gold because I prefer a lighter weight ring. It was also cheaper so when I was really torn between the options it made since to go with the less expensive one. I wanted palladium, but my setting didn't come in palladium.

I was considering a titanium ring until I read this. I started looking around for information on it & saw that they can be cut off. Many websites said that likely the rumor was started by jewelers that didn't want their sells to be hurt by cheaper titanium rings. The aircraft grade titanium or any titanium with added metals to increase strength would be a problem. But, most titanium rings are fine. It can't be resized though.
