  1. Someone asked this question recently & a lot of people said great things about canons. I love my canon SD600. You can click the button 1/2 way down & it focuses the picture. Then you are ready to take the picture quickly. It's great for kids & pets. I can pretty much always get the picture with my canon. I think all the canons have this feature. It's not just my model.

  4. Sounds like any touristy place. We ran into people putting bracelets on us in Paris & trying to make us buy them. We found a firm "no" worked.
  5. I've heard that many of the hotel plugs are only 2 prong. So if you have something with 3 prongs you'd need one of those converters that makes it 2 prong.
  6. It can always be photoshopped out of your pictures. I was in a wedding this weekend & the bride called it "arm tacos." The photographer tucked the extra fat in for her a few times, but she said she would photoshop it out in all the pictures. I think it's just really common in strapless dresses. They have to fit tight to stay up, but then they squeeze too much.
  7. I think they are great! STDs are usually not that formal anyway. She'll probably gets tons of phonecalls from people who just want to tell her how much they love them & then she'll realize she was wrong. People love unique invites. The traditional ones get so boring.
  8. Instead of a sharpie, you can use a paint pen. We painted a bunch of stadium cups for a vacation once & they turned out really cute. I want them to be able to stack inside each other for easy packing though & I'm not sure if that paint would come off.
  9. Congrats!!!!! You are both so helpful & great to talk to on the forum!

IF you have the original file though you should be able to make that no problem. and trust me. ive been using photoshop for 12 years now and i know 10% of what it can do hahahaha. its really endless. PM me if you have any questiosn. i love geeking out over photoshop and photography questions great to have a new photoshopper on the forum. I've been using it for many years, but never to do a lot of things. I've just started trying to learn new things with photoshop & it has been a lot of fun. I have so much to learn. This photobook turned out great. I used the artistic effects to cover up that the images started off low resolution. They looked fuzzy in on my screen (like above the mountains) but they printed great. I used the cutout effect a little too much because it was the only one that didn't show any fuzziness. Turns out I didn't need to do that. I gave it to her at her rehersal dinner & she really liked it. This is her telling her husband what all the pictures were of Ideally, I would have the high resolution images, but I knew she wouldn't have time to send them to me. It also wouldn't have been a surprise then.
  11. i would only send a card for christmas gifts if you didnt receive the gift in person to say thank you. I would just use regular thank you cards for that. I wouldn't send one to your mom all along the way. Send one extra nice one. I think a thank you phone call is enough for small gifts all throughout.
  12. wow, that's a really good example. You maintained the lines in the bricks & the shadows. Hopefully her backgrounds are just sand or sky & they can easily be cloned right out.
  13. I agree, that an honest no is so much better than a "I hope to make it" when they know they are not likely to go. I planned my wedding in a way so I wouldn't have to worry about how many people come. It has really helped me to just relax & see what happens. His parents & siblings are booking soon. After that, all immediate family are booked. Then it doesn't matter to me who else makes it. I know we'll have a great time with our immediate families.
  14. I think most of us have a similar situation. Over 70 people told me that want to go. I doubt 25% will actually go. I guess what makes it easier for me is that I didn't want a big group. I'm actually a bit relieved when people can't make it. I'd rather have a small group & really get to spend quality time with those people than a huge group. I think less people will make it easier to get together & go on excursions, etc. A big appeal of a DW for me was having a small, close group around me.
  15. I think they are a nice size for a little thank you envelope. You could always put them on the back of the envelope if you think they are too big. I used lables the same size for mailing my christmas cards. They were in small envelopes & it fit nicely. Are you changing your name? You might want to order a set with your future last name. I ordered a set of each. It was cheaper to place two seperate orders for me.

  17. My wiglet worked out great for the wedding. Everyone thought it was real. It stayed in place all night even with crazy dancing. It was also really great because I wasn't busy getting an updo. I was able to show up early & help out the bride & mother of the bride. It's crazy how everyone calls the bride with problems, so I was glad I had time to take over answering her phone. It was also just really nice to be able to relax & visit with everyone. Yay Wiglet!
  18. I just got back from a friend's wedding on Saturday. It was an amazing wedding. They never dance, so they were really worried about the first dance. The DJ announced their first dance & the song started. After only a minute, he said "another round of applause for the new couple" & faded out the song. It was a great way to get in a first dance that wasn't painful. She was really glad thats how they did it. They also had the wedding party lined up behind them as they danced. It was fun because we had a good view & it looked nice in pictures. That's me on the far left
  19. The vistaprint 4x8 invites are not actually 4x8. It makes it easy to mount them on a 4x8 cardstock. The blue card stock is 4x8 & the invitation is the size that it comes from vista print. I haven't cut it yet. I'll trim the bottom so it's framed by the blue paper. The envelopes vista print sends fit their invites, but not with the 4x8 paper on the back. I'll have to buy some 4x8 size envelopes. That's fine though because the vista print ones were nothing fancy. They are pretty thin. I'm really happy with how they turned out. Thanks again everyone who helped design my invites!
  20. They came in the mail while I was home for the holidays. They are so cute!!!
  21. Everyone really enjoyed thier shutterfly presents. I was a lot of fun giving everyone such personal gifts this year. I wasn't sure how the kids would react to the books, but they enjoyed them. They flipped through each page before opening the rest of their gifts. Mike's niece with her dora book friend at her rehersal dinner looking at the london book grandma with her calendar

  23. You can get photoshop elements for much less & it has the tools to do this. I use the clone tool to remove people from the backgrounds of pictures. It's really easy if the background is something like sand or sky. It's harder if it's a complex background like bricks.
