sending out invitations...how early?
rodent replied to ccsquinty's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
Our wedding is in june. I sent out STDs in August & September (took a while to get all the addresses). I've been sending out some email updates & I keep the website updated. It's now 5 months until the wedding. I am making my invites now. I'll probably send them as soon as they are ready. It might take a while, because I need to glue cardstock onto 60 of them still. And then 2 friends are going to caligraphy the addresses. So maybe they will be done in a month or two. Then I'll send them out. 3-4 months in advance. I'm really excited to get them out because I had so much fun making them & can't wait to share them. -

I don't think you really need to shop anymore. You already found two great dresses. No need to make the decision any harder. I really can't pick a favorite between the two. Is there a big price difference?

Post Your Mom's Dress!
rodent replied to jmhein's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
Great thread! My mom is waiting until easter to go shopping because there will be lots of dresses in the stores. She has been looking, but has decided to wait because she couldn't find anything she likes. -
no, I think its totally fine to have a bachelorette party. Mostly because people don't give you gifts at a bachelorette party. And they are fun for your friends which is why they probably want to throw you one. Any excuse to have a fun night out. I am not having any showers even though we did invite a over 100 people. But I am having a bachelorette party & an after party.

emergency bridal or travel kit
rodent replied to CritseyRowe's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
I hadn't thought about double sided tape to prevent wardrobe malfunctions. I have been worried about the low neckline of my dress, especially for dancing. I will have to pick some up. -
Jan 20-26 Canon® PowerShot® SD1000 for $149.98 @staples There are also coupons on ebay you can buy for a few dollars that will save you $30-$35 at staples.

It's great to hear a good review. I probably should just spend the $100 to ensure I like my hair the day of the wedding. I recently fixed it myself for a wedding I was in. It was OK, but definitly not good enough for all my wedding pictures.

Maybe some singles wouldn't care but I know I would feel bad about it.

HELP! Should I change the hotel?
rodent replied to MrsTrussell2B's topic in Destination Weddings in Dominican Republic
I chose a really inexpensive resort just to not have to deal with this problem. But, we still have 7 guests so far that are staying somewhere else. I really don't think they will be saving any money. But, I don't want to control what people do. I just hope there aren't any complications with it. I don't know how we'd manage to meet up with them. Maybe they will have answering machines in their room. I just love the idea of all being at the hotel together, which is why I picked a less expensive place & did so much research into getting a good price. Anyway, I put on our website that we hope everyone joins us at the hotel & there is an $80 fee to enter the hotel. I didn't specify who will pay it. I've learned they are just assuming they will pay it. That's a big relief, because we don't have an extra 7 x $80 in our tight budget. I did email the WC & get the fee reduced to $60. Maybe we can pay half. I really don't know what we will do yet. I don't know if you should change hotels, but I do think for people who haven't picked a hotel yet they should really consider a less expensive place. I think it saves you headaches in the end. -

I am sure I have done it before but am a work in progress The reason I think this can be an issue is that if you are just searching the title of a thread you are not going to be able to find the information you are looking for. So let say I title something "HELP ME" Then I proceed to chat about flowers and butterflies and puppies. Well how is the topic title going to help you figure out what I need help with and you may not find it when you are looking for answers on flowers, butterflies, or puppies. I am not sure if I am making any sense or if I could have just said..Title your posts with something that actually assists the viewer in knowing what it is about. My hope is that it will cut down on double topics. **Steps down from box and turns back on group of confused people tossing shoes at her head** I agree. I think a detailed title is helpful. Do you know that if you leave your cursor over the title the first few sentences will pop up? If the thread says "Help me" I will check out the first few sentences to see if its something I want to read. I think as this forum keeps growing we all need to work together to keep it efficient. -
I'm a Texan too (although I live in north carolina). There are non stop flights from dallas to cancun/riviera maya. Guests can be there in less than 3 hours. I chose riviera maya because it's affordable & our guests can get non stop flights out of houston. Their flights are 2 1/2 hours.

http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t13834 Check out this link for tips to finding your answer. There is a lot of great info on AHRs on the forum. Notice that the search tool isn't working, but you can use advanced search. I'd suggest having it a little after the wedding to give yourself time to recover from the trip & prepare for the party. Also, that way you'd have time to get pictures developed to share at the AHR. Really anything goes for an AHR. Some people do a full blown reception in their gown, some do a back yard BBQ.

The good wife's guide...(from 1955)
rodent replied to IrieBride08's topic in Just venting or funnies
If it makes you feel better, the article is fake. I had it emailed to me a few month ago so i looked it up on spoofs. it's not a real article from the 50s. -

The advanced search hasn't been working for me. I get the same screen that I get when i try to go to the end of a thread & it won't open. So it might not be a problem with the advanced search tool, just the same problem the forum has been having lately. -
