I've posted some photoshop tutorials on this forum. Search -photoshop. None cover what you are trying to do though. There are however great tutorials all over the internet. That's how I learn most stuff. Once you get the basics down, it's much easier to figure things out. At first photoshop feels confusing. Just keep playing with it. Then it is so much fun to try to learn new things. The stuff you can do is really endless.

So can you do this with weddingannouncer, or some of the other free sites where you can't have your own domain name? Could I have bought a name we wanted from godaddy and then link it to my weddingannouncer site? It's too late for me, because I've already sent out my STDs with the weddingannouncer url, but I think it would be great info to give future brides.

Great job! I was going to say the same thing about the parent's names, but the design queens beat me to it. I do think the font your location is in might be a little hard to read, but maybe if that line was just a little bigger it would be fine. It's such a cool font I probably wouldn't change it. Where you wrote "cocktail" it's not hard to read, so I think it just needs a little more size. Beautiful work!

Coba is BIG BIG BIG and FLAT FLAT FLAT and surrounded by jungle. Its rather amazing! Plus, the 20 or so peso bike rental (single bikes) for all my friends was so much fun, highly recommended too. For eating, it just depends on when you leave... It looks like you will be in Coba before noon and if you do that tour, you will likely be hungry just after. I'm not too impressed with the local food joints around there... Your next option is bring something to sustain grandma and snacks. We had sandwiches, apples, chips, water, sodas etc. We ended up driving our car and had the back packed with the cooler. This way we could snack just after coba and before the cenote and still get our full day in on our tour closing at the beach. Key thing is that its 45 min from the closest restaurants (taco joint on the corner of highway and road to coba) in tulum to the coba ruins. think in terms of 1 hr drive, 1.5 hrs at ruins, 45 min drive to closest tulum restaurant. that is big window of time for no grub... sandwiches worked for us. good luck! mateo I figured we'd have to drive a while to get food. We'll probably do the same thing then- pack food. I definitly don't want hungry guests at the cenote.

I would love to sign up and do weddingwindow.com because I like the templates they have a little better but they are $99 per year, plus $15 for your own .com, so that is about $115. $70.00 difference....and do I really need my own .com? $70-85 to spend elswhere? What would you do? Thanks girls!! I didn't mind not having our own .com. I used a cute font when I put the website on our save the dates so i like that it was longer. I used weddingannouncer.com. I was very happy with it & it's free. Guests have been really impressed by the site. -
Upsetting news

If you anniversary is on valentine's day you only get 1day to celebrate. If you change dates, you get to celebrate on valentines & your anniversary. I do think it's considerate to plan on a 3 day weekend, but I would change to get your hotel. With enough notice, guests should be fine taking off work. Also, not everyone gets presidents day off. Especially not in the last few years. Some times it's harder to take off on a holiday like that. For example, my mom is a teacher. Because they know there are certain days everyone wants off they make those days off limits for taking off. This happens for holidays where your spouse might have off, but school is still in session. My step dad works at a bank. Although he gets the holidays off, taking off the day after a holiday is really hard. -

I agree a simple design is best. It's also more friendly for our family that still have dial up internet. -

I'm not sure of anything yet, but I do know we'll have probably at least 20, but how many of those leaving out of the same airport? I don't know. I am just beginning to get an idea of how tough it can be to put something together that everyone is comfortable with. Even looking at 3-5-7 night packages, there were so many restrictions on what days people could leave. Even with us going for 7 or 8 nights, we will likely have to change our plans some based on when we can leave out. And we hadn't planned on having to leave TOGETHER with everybody else. Looks like I have some more thinking to do. I just need to sit down with the next TA and go through my growing list of questions. Thanks again ladies. We haven't been given a limit on how many people. There are also no restirction on when they can leave. Except for the availability of charter flights. There is just 1-2 flights per day they can pick from if they want charter. They can always take commercial too. Our texas guests are mostly flying charter, but out of north carolina we only have the commercial option. I like how easy it has all been with the way we are doing it. I get updates price quotes from my TA from about 7 cities. Guests contact her if they want to book & work out their days, etc. I'm trying to not get involved. But, I have found people keep procrastinating. To get anyone to book I had to get involved. I organized my family's trips & they are the only that booked. Everyone intends to, but hasn't done it yet. Prices keep climbing. Hopefully they get on it!

I think the difference is tami did a room block & then bought flights. We are buying flights & room as a package. If it's charter air, they will get price drops. For commercial, it's not guaranteed. We also get price drops for the room. So recently the 3 night stay in the hotel dropped $10 so everyone who has booked just got $10 taken off what they owe. Hopefully they see more price drops. What I'd love to see is the flights out of Houston drop to $200 per person. I know they used to sell for that much close to travel time, but it was a different charter airline last year. For our hotel, I suggest having guests book package deals (air, transfer to hotel & room). They don't offer any perks as far as I know for a room block. It also saves a lot of headache not having to get so involved in RSVPs & who is actually coming.

I think they look great. You don't want too much on them, because it could get hard to read. Have you already ordered them? The only thing I could suggest to do if you wanted to make them a little more decorative is to play with some fonts. You could have your names in a different font & the location in another font. If you've already ordered them, I definitly wouldn't suggest remaking them. They really are great. But, if you haven't ordered them & want to play around with the fonts some, the forum is great help for that. They spiced up all my stuff by suggesting cool fonts.

It's a good website. Diamonds, Engagement Rings and Fine Jewelry at Blue Nile go check it out. You sort the rings by quality, so he will know what he is getting. The rings are usually appraised for more than was paid for them at bluenile. They offer fedex overnight shipping. I imagine it's insured. Don't worry. It's a very popular, legit company.

THANK YOU The price is for everyone, not per person. Isn't that great? They also have drinks & snacks for you. There would still be the price of admission which is something like 350 pesos (~$3.50). I've read that there are shuttles at tulum that will drive you from the parking lot to the ruins. Unfortunately, I don't think there are the bike taxis at Tulum. I found these websites last night that I thought were fun. Coba Mexico Ron & Judy's Viva Maya - Playa Del Carmen, Mexico - January 16-23, 2003 - PAGE 2

To hear her say "i read about this pyarmid in national geographic, i never imagined in my lifetime that I could actually see it, wow, its really amazing".... wow, I just broke down. The fun thing is that you can get a guide to tell you about it, and he talks for 10 minutes then you rent bikes with your friends, SO MUCH FUN, and go for the tour. The grounds will take you 1.5 hrs to go through, even on a bike. The Coba ruins are the largest in the Yucatan. You can even climb them, another awesome experience. Tulum is nice, its on the ocean.... but I was BLOWN away by Coba. She did go to a cenote, you may want to try Cenote Carwash (on way back from Coba) as i think it is flat enough for her. We went to Grand Cenote with friends and family, just to chill and there was a covered pavilion where she ended up sitting. After that, she went home in her car with her daughter while the others went to the beach! With this day tour, you can get a lot in, grandma friendly. good luck! Thanks for all the information. I've emailed Jorge about planning the trip. He said it's only an hour from Puerto Aventuras to Coba. I thought it would take a lot longer. I didn't want travel time to get much over an hour. I think we'll plan a shorter trip. I don't think all of our guests could last the whole day. Do you recommend eating lunch somewhere near Coba? Or should we go to Tulum or Akumal? I'm just trying to figure out what all we have time for. I don't want to go to lunch much later than 11:30. Grandma eats early. Thanks for the tips. My grandma's top thing on her list was to see the jungle. I'm excited to find a way to show her the jungle & still plan a trip that everyone else will enjoy.

Sometimes it's higher at first. I take a flight from raleigh to houston pretty often. It will be $400 when the prices are first released. Then it will drop to $225 & rise up until time of travel. So I don't book too early. I wait until it's just the right time. The trick is knowing when that is.

I agree, early is better. Do your BMs all live in the same area? Maybe you could do it before you leave for Mexico. -
Reception prices more than double what I thought

yikes! That's high. Especially with the tip, tax & fees. -
EDR charges fees to bring in your own photographer, etc. Just something to keep in mind.

I just grabbed one of my shutterfly books to try to answer your question. I think the pages are plenty thick, but I don't know what other books feel like. They definitly don't feel flimsy. I compared it to a few things around. It's thicker than a magazine page or text book pages. Not as thick as cardstock. About as thick as the pages of a book. The leather covers are nice, but it's not a plush padded leather cover. I imagine their are much nicer leather covers out their. I'm a fan of the 8x8 & 12x12 books on shutterfly. You can use a picture for the cover. This was the front & back cover of a book I made for a friend: Anyway, I really love how it turned out. Kind of like a coffee table book. Mypublisher.com has options for making book jackets. I'd like to try that sometime. Shutterfly often has promotions for a free photobook. If you don't have an account already, make one & wait for the emails for a free book. That way you can test it out & see what you think of the quality. Then that book can always be a gift for someone else. I personally would want to make a tester book in shutterfly before spending $360 for a book. That way you can make sure you really like it. One last think. Check out lumapix for designing the pages. it's great & easy to use. Search around the forum. There is great info on photobooks & compairisons of different companies to order from.

I second the vote for leigh. Or am I fourth? I love her work. I check her blog reguarly just because it's so fun to see her pictures. But, I do also understand wanting to hire someone local. There are amazing local photographers. But, if none are available for your date, then it makes sense to look into flying someone in.
