  1. Mike calls me nugget. It started as a joke about a Peta sticker that says "I'm not a nugget." I got him a tshirt that says that for valentines day. Nugget is such a funny word. Maybe I'll get him a grandma's little nugget onesie
  2. They look great! I like the double line. Great colors, too. I actually picked my wedding colors based on the logo I ended up going with Kind of backwards, but the colors I originally wanted did't work well in my design.
  3. Aww thanks! Don't worry, most of my ideas came from someone else. That's what is so great about the forum. I didn't think I was creative until I found all this great inspiration. It's great to not have to start from scratch with everything & just build on someone elses ideas and then make them your own. You might want to resize your stuff in photobucket. There is a resize button at the top. Just a warning about photobucket is not to rearrange your folders. Once they are in a folder, leave them there. I moved a bunch of mine & all my links were messed up after that. Your logos look great. You'll be a DIY queen in no time & others can "borrow" your great ideas.
  4. After seeing the great guide the PV girls have for the PV airport, I searched for something like that for Cacun. I couldn't find it, so I'm starting one. UPDATE Here is the text (I haven't proofed it. Let me know if you see mistakes or if any info is wrong) Once you arrive at the Cancun International Airport, your first stop will be Immigration. Look for overhead signs leading you to the lower level and Immigration. The lines can get very long here but generally move quickly. In order to speed the process, have all of your documents in hand. As you pass through immigration, put your tourist card and passport in a safe place. You will need your tourist card and passport upon departure. Your next stop will be baggage claim. The Cancun airport does have baggage carousels, but they are small and there are not enough to handle the amount of luggage coming through. After a few rounds on the carousel, luggage is cleared into a central area, usually on the floor next to the carousels. You should look for your luggage on both carousels and on the floor around them.Once you have your bags, head to customs. You should be able to see the customs line through the glass windows. You are almost done.During the inbound flight, you will receive and need to fill out a customs form (Hacienda). You will hand the form to the customs agent and press the button on what looks like a traffic light. A green light means “go” and red means “inspection” in which case, officials perform a quick inspection. After you get through customs, proceed through sliding doors and go to the right. Then walk down a long hall. This hallway will be filled with people trying to show you a timeshare. Keep your head down and walk fast, or just give them a firm “no.” At then at the end of the hall there is another set of doors. Outside these doors are where all of the vans and busses are. Look for the Funjet representatives. They will have on brightly colored shirts & white pants. Check with a representative to make sure you get on the appropriate bus. The trip to the hotel should take about an hour, depending on how many stops are made on the way. On the trip, the Funjet representative will give you more information about the area & activities in Riviera Maya. Here is a picture of what it looks like. You can download the powerpoint file here Morgans Cancun Airport Guide.ppt If you want the same font, it's called "Jokerman" and it's free on dafont.com. I've never been able to properly upload a font. Thanks to Janine (neen) for the pictures of the airport!

  6. OK, here is my brochure after more modification. I'll try to post steps of how to put the picture in the background & make the light boxes, but it's a little complicated. I had to use photoshop for that. I'm way too tired tonight, but I'll try to do it tomorrow. I have changes to make to this page.

  8. Thanks for uploading the templates. I love your pamplet. I've been working on mine, but I've got to make some changes now. I'm glad I saw your stuff before I placed my order tomorrow. Everything looks amazing. I like the theme of "warm, dry, love, etc." Very cute. Thanks for sharing!

Nevermind.. your wedding is in June..lol When i went before, they gave us time to pull out what we needed from our luggage. But, that's a good tip incase they don't always do that. I know I'll want my swimsuit, sunscreen, etc.
  10. anny's guests had umbrellas http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t7054 She can probably tell you if views were blocked.
  11. Thanks Sol! I've been talking to Jorge at Signal tours to plan our group trip. It's great having locals on the forum to help us find great vendors!
  12. I searched the forum & couldn't find the answer to all my questions about transfers. I'm trying to finish up the brochure I'm sending guests before the trip (http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t14888). I want to make sure I'm correct on the airport to hotel shuttle stuff. Its been 10 years since I was last in cancun. We booked our trip through funjet. I read the shuttle transportion is provided by Lomas. This is what I was going to put on the brochure. Is my info correct? When you arrive at the Cancun airport, you will need to make your way to customs. After completing customs, look for the Funjet/Lomas representatives. They will have on white pants, brightly colored shirts and signs that say Funjet or Lomas. Avoid people who are trying to sell timeshares. The transfer from the airport to the hotel is included in your trip package. You will be transported to the hotel in a van. This ride should take approximately 1 hour. The van will drop people off at other resorts so it might take longer. If you would like to reserve a private, direct shuttle you can do so for $xx. Contact Peggy. Check in time is not until 3pm. Your luggage will be stored while you wait for your room. At this time you can enjoy the pool, restaurants, or other parts of the hotel. We hope you had an easy trip to Mexico & we look forward to seeing you when you arrive. Anyone know if the shuttles have restrooms? I remember they sold beer. Do they usually have bottled water too?

She said it was great. She enjoyed going to look at the timeshare too.

It's kind of like wingdings.

I have never been interested in doing this but it will break my heart if the poor dolphins are treated poorly. Yes, It is cruel to the dolphins. I'm not criticizing anyone who has done it, because they probably just didn't know the truth about it. I'm just encouraging people to looking into so they don't make the mistake of doing it if they would have regretted it. I am glad someone stopped me from doing it. It's very misleading that swimming with dolphin programs advertise themselves as eco friendly. They act like they are providing dolphin education & having these programs because of their love of dolphins. They wouldn't sell tickets I guess if they told the truth that they are simply exploiting the animals because they can make a lot of money doing it. There are several things wrong with it. One is that the way they capture the dolphins is violent & usually results in killing some. The dolphins are usually not kept in proper conditions with enough space. They are incredibly intelligent animals & need more complex environments. A gold fish is probably happy in a small bowl, but dolphins usually show signs or boredom or stress. Here are some links. Swimming with dolphins: dream or nightmare? Arguments against captivity There is really no proper swim with dolphins program. Some advertise that they are open water and therefor ok. But, they have just trained the dolphins to become dependent on the food they throw from the boat. There are some great dolphin watching & whale watching companies that keep the animals best interest in mind. I plan on doing that instead someday. Anyway, I'm sorry if it seems like I'm getting on a soapbox about this. It just really upsets me to see places like Xcaret call themselves eco friendly & then see they have a swim with the dolphins program.
  17. Is this the arch? Yeah, I really don't care for it. But you could easily tell them you don't want an arch & you'd have the beautiful blue water as your backdrop. There is a thread that was started the other day about setting up a wedding with no arch. You can make it look great. I also read you can reserve a private room for a reception for $80. You can have them wait on your cake until then. Can you write your own vowes? That's another way to add to the ceremony. Unless they are really unflexible, you should be able to make your wedding the way you want it. Often when you see the really simple weddings it because thats what the couple wanted. maybe they didn't want to do any planning but just show up & get hitched.
  18. http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t15116 This sandals has some beautiful options for a wedding, so maybe yours has some beautiful locations you haven't seen yet. I wasn't in love with the location for my friends sandals st lucia wedding. it was in a gazeebo that blocked out much of the view of the ocean. there were lots of flowers. I think it might be personal preference but I want to have the background to be predominantly ocean.
  19. OK, I didn't realize SRH was Sandals Royal Hicacos. I looked back at another thread to see your hotel name. My friend was married at a sandals in st lucia & her ceremony was just like what you described. Maybe some of the sandals brides know if you can customize the ceremony & make it how you want.
  20. btw, what is your hotel? maybe we can find some options for you that you can get excited about. oh, & I think most peoples ceremonies are 30 minutes tops. I'm thinking something like 20 minutes would be good. it will be hot. I have always preferred a shorter wedding even if it's indoors.
  21. can you add to the basic ceremony? I think at most hotels you can have a ceremony just like that or you can build your own more elaborate custom deal. Most of the weddings on the forum you are probably thinking about are customized. My view of a DW has definitly changed since being on the forum. I'm still keeping stuff pretty simple, but I'm doing a whole lot more than I expected. I was looking through some DW groups on the knot & most the weddings I saw were a basic deal like what you described. I also find when I talk to people from trip advisor they had a much more simple wedding with a lot less planning. Maybe us girls on the forum get carried away. I know for me I've planned more than I ever expected to because planning is fun now that I have all this great inspiration. I'm kind of addicted to wedding planning now. I seriously had no interest in it before.
