My DIY first aid kits with templates
rodent replied to rodent's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
Here is the template. It includes the safety sheets, advil packets, and the cover image. first aid pictures & safety info.ppt -
Inspired by Stephanie, I made these first aid kits. (link to stephanie’s) http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t14502 The boxes were 97 cents at target in the travel section (with the little shampoos, etc.) They came with the bandaids, guaze, and wipes. I added the Q-tips, lip balm, and Advil/ Imodium packets. I typed up the safety info for the Imodium & Advil & put it in the packets. I’m still waiting on my lip balm labels to arrive. http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t15525 My imodium packets (including template) http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t15384 A powerpoint with my cover image (from Stephanie), advil packets, and drug safety sheets is attached. Feel free to “borrow†it. If it isn’t clear from the picture, the packets are 4x4 squares of paper. I folded them & taped them to make a little envelope. I will add the pills when I get to Mexico, because they need to be in their original container for customs.

If you dont mind me asking what kind of verbiage did you use on your website to advice guests to make their own arrangements? TIA Here is the info from my website. Feel free to snag anything you want: Travel Arrangements Price lists for 3 nights 6/19/08 - 6/22/08 -Price is per person based on double occupancy (unless specified). -Prices include all taxes & fees, transportation between airport & hotel, room at hotel, and all meals/drinks. -All flights are morning out and afternoon returns. Flights are non-stop whenever possible and all layovers are in the U.S. -The hotel has standard rooms and suites. The suites have more space, a couch bed, and a stocked mini-fridge. Check with our TA for the cost of upgrading to a suite. Price per person for 3 nights- includes flight, hotel, and all meals & drinks Houston, TX (IAH) - $779 standard room Raleigh/ Durham, NC (RDU)- $794 standard room Corpus Christi, TX (CRP) $1077 standard room San Antonio, TX (SAT) $855 standard room (charter) Austin, TX (AUS) standard room (charter) Charlotte (CLT) $777 standard room Victoria, TX (VCT) standard room Hotel only $269 standard room If you know you will be making the trip to Mexico, contact our travel agent Jane Doe with ourtravelagentwebsitehere.com. Her email address is [email protected] and her phone number is 1-888-555-5555 ext 555. Mention the Smith/Doe wedding. Let her know which airport you will be flying out of, flight time preferences and room preferences. If you’d like to be notified by email of updates, sign up on the “mailing list†page. Let me know if you would like a city added to this list. We recommend flying in on Thursday, June 19th and flying out on Sunday, June 22nd for a 3 night stay. We are planning an optional group activity for Friday. The wedding will be on Saturday, June 21st. You can choose to stay for a shorter or longer time. It is best to book the hotel & flight as a package. If you only need to book the hotel, then you can do so at any time. The tour operator for this vacation is Fun Jet. No matter how early you book your package, if the price on your package drops after booking, your package price will be changed to the lower price. Jane will notify if this occurs. You can also secure your trip with a deposit (~$150) and pay the rest by April 30th. These are just a few of the perks of booking through our travel agent. Booking a charter flight is ideal. The price is more likely to drop and you will get those savings, even if you have already booked. Unfortunately, charter flights are not available from every city. Jane is great at finding a good travel deal. If you do find a better deal using Expedia, Travelocity, etc., contact her with the exact details of your deal and she can see if she can match or beat the offer. We do not recommend booking your trip using one of these websites. Optional travel insurance may be added. Insurance premiums are due at the time of deposit. Two levels of insurance are available from funjet. Penalty waiver for $69.99 http://www.funjet.com/CS/detail.asp?...&OAC=&plCode== Complete coverage for $89.99 Specials - Funjet Vacations - Special Vacation Travel Package Deal You can also buy less expensive & better insurance through Access America AccessAmerica.com - Travel Insurance for Leisure and Business Travel The Basic package is usually about $40 per person & covers things including trip cancellation due to illness, emergency medical expenses while on vacation, and lost luggage. For about $15 more you can upgrade to the Classic package that also covers cancelling for pregnancy, birth of a family member, or airport closure due to bad weather. Kids stay free at the hotel. A maximum of 3 adults are allowed per room. The closest airport to Puerto Aventuras is the Cancun airport (CUN). You will be transported from the airport to the hotel for no additional cost. The trip will take approximately one hour. The buses are air-conditioned. They usually have cheap beer for sale and entertainment from a tour guide.

So I know the whole deal with this money is that we are supposed to spend it to stimulate the economy. My natural tendency is to put it in the bank. But, I feel a little guilty doing that because that would do no stimulating. If I put it into a mutual fund would that count as stimulation?

I did not want the stress of trying to get guests to commit in advance. I knew people would back out. So I got a TA & told people to contact her to book if they were coming. She booked everyone a package deal of flight + room + transfers through funjet. Her prices were lower than funjet, which is usually lower than travelocity, expedia, etc. Every so often she would send me price updates & I'd put them on my website. It was great having someone who can deal directly with booking the guests. It was also great that they could just pay a $150 deposit. She can also pass along price drops if prices go down on their package. You can't get that through expedia, etc. I have not had to worry about RSVPs or having a certain number of guests. It has been pretty close to stress free. I think room block vs. package deal varies on your resort. Some places book up fast so securing rooms is important. Also, some places give lots of perks for a room block. I think getting a TA is always a good decision. Avoid putting down deposits for your guests. People will always back out. I think over 70 people told us they wanted to go. 4 months before the wedding only 20 are booked. Getting an estimate is really hard.

I just bought a lot of 8 luggage combo locks on ebay for $18. I'm going to give them to guests in their OOT bags along with some safety tips. It sounds like they often target wedding parties because they know when they won't be in their room.

AHR is after honeymoon reception. I used a paintpen to paint the name of each guest on a cup. Then I did rubons to add the pictures. The link is in my post to more details about my cups on the forum.

I need to get it hemmed. I don't have to get anything else done which is great.

It's a great opportunity to reuse a BM dress too. We had a cheesy theme, cheesy music, and coursages for all the ladies. They were a chainlinked garland of flowers from AC moore. It was easy to hook them on a piece of elastic & make enough for all the girls. I'm wearing it in this picture. We posed on the staircase for a bunch of pictures, too just like highschool. We plan on doing something similar for the AHR, but it will be a red carnation for the hair. I bought a $10 column from ac moore for the next prom for people to pose with. The next theme will be "it's a jungle out there." Here are some other theme parties that were fun The 90s party (my favorite) dress like a disney charecter finer things party (still being planned)- top hats, monacles, classical music, canes, mustaches, boas, gloves, etc. It seems like every party requires a costume lately.

I'd suggest elements if you are just starting out. You can probably get a copy on ebay for $20-$30. I have elements v4.0 & I really like it. The red eye reduce is really good on this version. You can do so much with elements. I just upgraded to the full version recently because I've been spending a lot of time photoshopping & feel limited with my options. But, really elements is a great program. I'll post the steps for how to remove the background later. It's VERY simple & quick so it shouldn't be a problem to do it for a lot of pictures from the AHR. I'll also find the ebay seller where I got the cheap green screen. Mine hasn't come in yet, but I'll post some examples once it does.

I just got this idea yesterday & I'm really excited about it. I bought a cheap green screen on ebay ($27 for a 9 foot by 12 foot green muslin curtain). We will hang it up at the after wedding fiesta. People can take their pictures in front of it & I'll photoshop them into a Mexico scene. There might even be one where they can have a picture with us like they were at the wedding. Here is a link if you don't know what I'm describing Pulp: Juicy bits from OP Crew: Green Screen Photography for Holiday Parties We will also use this at my bachelorette party to make pictures of us in NYC like we are the Sex & the city girls. Every year we have a prom party with a backdrop for pictures. This might also work nicely for that next year. The next theme is a jungle theme. Here is a picture from our "dancing under the stars" prom.

A friend asked me to photoshop this picture of her cousin. She didn't take pro pictures in her cap and gown, but really wanted one. I tired to make this snapshot look like something that could be framed. I also took some of the sunburn off her face & enhanced her skin. I am still in the learning stages of photoshop. My guess is I will always be learning though. There is so much to do with this one program. If any of the pros have some suggestions for me, I'd love to hear them. I ordered a guide off amazon that should be here soon so I can get more tips. Most of what I know is just from playing around with it or getting some tips off the internet. I really had trouble getting the background cleanly removed because it was so colorful. It reflected the bright colors off her robe. I think I should have run over the edge with a brush turning the edge greyscale before erasing the background. Just for fun:

I used her ideas for inspiration to make mine. Go though a link like www.vistaprint.com/minicatalog to get a cheap deal. Mine were $7 for 25 brochures shipped. I also have the template on mine so it should help you get started.

http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t11130 Good tips here. I plan on getting small combo locks for our luggage. I'm going to see if I can find a good enough deal to get some for our guests. I'll keep stuff hidden in a dirty sock. Mostly, we'll avoid taking anything valuable.

I don't think ben would count as one of the 6. He wasn't on Oceanic 815. The coffin was kind of small.

I know this dream happened because we were talking about how your husband is also a scientist. The thing about the quiet lunch area is because I was looking for a place to eat lunch with a friend yesterday so we could talk in privacy. I love dreams. Mine area always crazy. I was also an assassin last night (not the same dream you were in). I know that was because I had watched Lost before I went to bed & there was an assassin.
