They are not TSA locks though. They were $18 for 8 shipped. After I won the auction I asked if I could buy another set. I believe this person has more. They look pretty tough, unlike those flimsy ones you get with luggage. I also like that you can set your own combo.

I'll post the steps once it comes in. This is how I think it will work: 1. i'll take peoples pictures in front of the screen. I think I'll need to have them stand on either a green floor cover or some of the screen. 2. use magic eraser in photoshop (one click & the background is gone) 3. select them & paste them onto a new background. The green is good because people are probably not wearing a shade that bright. If it was a black screen, there would likely be overlap with their clothes or hair. It would then be harder to remove the background. I think it might be tricky to get the lighting right. I don't have studio lights. We need to avoid shadows as much as we can. I haven't really figured out hiw this will work. My plan for this weekend is to take people's pictures during the aprty. Then I'll photoshop them through the week & upload them onto a website so everyone can see their picture & take a copy. If it goes well, I'll do this at my bachelorette party & AHR. I'll let y'all know how it goes.

I searched around to see if I could find it cheaper & this waas the best deal. I also read some reviews & it sounds great. Just can't wait to try it. -

I plan on getting a cute travel wedding ring. I already have fake earings I travel with. I don't take anything valuable on trips. Not worth the worrying. My camera is the only thing of value I take, but i keep it on me all the time. I'll have to lock it in my luggage when we go snorkeling. I'll remove the SD card first too so no one will get my pictures. I'd rather have a bunch of money stolen than pictures.

eBay Store - Factory2u2: Hunting Camping Gear, Home Decor Rugs Blankets, Curtains Chandeliers Canopys I bought 16 luggage locks from this ebay seller. They were $36. I believe they have more. I wanted combo locks so people don't have to keep track of a key. You can also change the combos. I think I'll make them all the same incase someone forgets it. Probably a number that is meaningful. Good idea to have that little case for by the pool. I might just rig something up with my laptop lock. I've already spent too much on locks!

I have a pretty casual dress. i didn't want to be running around the hotel in a big gown if I wasn't having a private deal. I plan on just removing my veil & being just a slightly more dressed up hotel guest. If you don't feel comfortable, you can always change into a more casual white dress. I'm glad to hear more people are not planning their own reception. It's really not in my budget. I also know we can have a blast without it. I'm hoping we can just find a less crowded area of the hotel to hang out at. Hopefully that area has karaoke

We all rushed back to our rooms to ensure everything was IN the safe; because if anything is stolen out of the safe it is insured. If you leave anything lying in your room, the resort insurance won't cover it. That's what we were told anyway. Just be smart and make sure you lock everything up. Of all the stories I've heard of people having their safes robbed, none we reimbursed. i'm not sure if they were honest about the insurance. The safes sound mroe dangerous to me. It puts all your valuables in one spot that doesn't sound that secure. when my luggage locks arrive I'll let you know how secure they seam. Sure they could take the whole suitcase, but I don't think that's as easy as pocking some money. i plan on locking all suitcases, not just ones with money/ cameras. So they'd have to get 4 big cases out of our room without being noticed.

I am having a larger group (20-30) and I'm not planning a reception. I figure after dinner we can just do whatever we want. I'm thinking of it more like a group vacation than a wedding.

But I sure can think it Gosh this lady at my job gave me patchouli body oil & incense as a secret santa gift one year, and I hate that smell!!! She's all "Once you said you loved patchouli so I knew this was for you when I saw it" and I know I didn't say I like that stuff, it gives me a lump in my throat...but I thanked her just to be grateful. What was I supposed to say "No, you were wrong. That smells like ass and I won't use it" LOL How akward is that? Yeah, I can totally see that point too. I'd rather get nothing at all than something that's insultingly cheap. I once had a friend give me an ugly shirt & say "I thought it was pretty ugly, but I figured you wear it."

I think I'm just lucky still being in the cheap-is-cool environment as a grad student. Around here people are proud of driving an old car, getting something for free, etc. We actually have parties where we swap clothes with each other & drink cheap wine. I can't stand being around people who are pretentious. I would probably skip that party if you get invited & stay at home & drink the bottle of wine you would have taken. The good stuff

I'm a microbiologist. My last job was testing drinking water for bacteria at the county health department. Now I am in grad school at Duke to get a PhD in genetics. I work in a lab doing genetics research with E. coli. There is talk about having a "what is your job" siggy theme. If we do you can all see E. coli Morgan (me drawn with E. coli). I love these threads. It's so fun to see all the cool jobs people have & know a little more about each other.

I think people who are not avid wine drinkers prefer the cheap stuff. maybe this was their favorite wine. The cheap stuff is usually sweeter and easier to drink. Before I had some good wine, my favorite wine was a $4 bottle of Lambrusco I had at the olive garden. I took it to lots of parties. The funny thing is, it would become the hostesses new favorite wine. I think it might have tasted like koolaid. I can't remember. I've also shown up at a party with a box of franzia, so you now how classy I am. Anyway, I've had some good wine since then & sort of understand the difference, but I'm just not a wine drinker. But, I've become used to good beer & I totally understand why wine drinkers like good wine. When I was home for christmas, I had miller lite for the first time in a year. It felt like a waste of time to drink it. I spend as much for a 6 pack as I spent for a suitcase of beer in college. But its so much better. Anyway, back to the topic. I wouldn't be upset about a $7 bottle. I tend to be Cheapy Mc. Cheaperton though. I also encourage my friends to be the same way. If we are getting together I don't care if people bring anything. Or if they bring a half eaten bag of chips, 3 beers someone left in their fridge, etc. And I also don't care if they take home leftovers. I don't like people to spend money out of guilt or fear of seaming cheap.

I was going to say the same thing. I'm sure this could be edited onto digital footage. There are some videographers on the forum. Maybe they will chime in. The advantage to filming in digital & then editing it to look 8mm would be that you'd have both styles. You could merge the two effects for a really cool video.

I thought I had centered them...though....having really never created anything in powerpoint before....other than stealing Morgans stuff....i had trouble with that. I will try to center them better! I would LOVE to work on yours Courtney! Or, send you this when its done, and you can add your own menu to it. I am going to try to get it right, then print it off and see how I want to display it. I will let everyone know and have a looksee when its done! Thanks girls! I center stuff in powerpoint two ways. 1. stretch the text box so it covers end to end. Then use the text center button 2. turn on the grid (view-->grid & gridlines-->display grid on screen) I use powerpoint a lot for my job so I've gotten pretty use to designing things with it. Installing fonts it pretty simple. I download them from dafont into a folder i made for them in my documents. Then I unzip them & move the file into the C:WindowsFonts folder. Viola, you have a pretty new font. Windows Vista : Right-click on the font files > "Install" Windows XP : Put the font files into C:WindowsFonts Mac OS X : Double-click the font file > "Install font" button. -

They look great! Another fun thing to do it to play around with some fancy fonts. You can get them free at dafont.com. -
