She said "Is that your man (pointing to Mike), might want to talk to him about that." Grrr, that was a horrible day at the DMV. It took 8 hours to get our stupid NC license. Then she didn't even give me the option for lighthouse, airplane, or seal as the picture on my license. I made her redo it. I want my lighthouse! I just realized I fought harder for my lighthouse than Miss or Ms. But I don't think they put the salutation on the actual license.

  5. Oh, I thought the flag was a political statement until I read your message below. Great collage!
  6. Reputation points are kind of mysterious. You can give someone a rep point, if you like what they posted, by clicking on the scale in the bottom left hand corner of a post. You can pick to give them positive or negative repuation. Then you can also leave a comment. The person will see these points at the bottom of their user CP. It's a nice little reminder that people appreciate your help & support. We think rep points lead to Karma. But, I don't know that this has been proven. Most of my rep points have a bright green square next to them. Two of mine have dark blue suares. I'm not sure if these means I was left negative rep points. The comments next to them are positive, so maybe someone just slipped up. You can't rep the same person too many times in a row. A pop up will tell you to spread the love around. Also, you are limited to how much you can rep within 24 hours. Do we really know what all the magic of the forum is all about? No. But, rep points are a great way to say "Hey thanks man" without using 500 points to buy a gift. So it's great for newbies & point horders. It's also really quick to do. Go forth & rep! Show a BDW member you care!

They were almost hit by a hurricane during her wedding. Maybe they should stay off the gulf coast.

It does have a different perspective than just the pictures. It was fun seeing what was going on as the pictures were being shot. It was also cool to see what happens right after the ceremony in the 2nd video. I wasn't sure where to go after walking down the aisle.

Can fly into ALB, drive up the Northway ( about 35 minutes). I'd stay outside of Saratoga Springs though as to stay in the twon will be expensive. If he's a history buff there are alot of Battlefiels and Ft. Ticonderoga is a day trip along Lake George. This is located in the foothills of the Adirondacks. Traverse City, Michigan- can be affordable and take a day trip to Mackenaw island. Beautiful lake frontage, lots of little towns along the coast to explore and also several vinyards. These places do sound really nice. If he is interested in these options, I'll get him in touch with you. I'm going to suggest he work with a TA now that I have learned how great they are. Sorry I don't have more specifics. I think it's because he doesn't have a clear idea what he wants. Just a place where they can have a nice, romantic time without spending too much. And August rules out some places due to hot weather. They will need to escape the Texas heat.

She looked like an alien, but you know how hot they draw those aliens. I jokingly said "don't talk to that slut." It was his friend matthew

It makes me think of that seinfeld episode where a girl tells jerry her name rhymes with part of the female anatomy & he called her "Mulva." If anyone is interested to know what my name rhymes with, PM me. I just don't like putting my name/ address/ stuff too personal on the internet.

I don't think any of us think it's silly to be passionate about your name. I am excited to be out of school & build a professional identity some day. Some of us do take the name change lightly, but just because we don't have that attachment to our names for various reasons. As a pro photographer your name becomes tied to your reputation. I wouldn't be changing if I was in your shoes. A great thing about a destination wedding forum is that we are obviously all fine with not being traditional.

Do you also have an easy picked on by school children last name, too? When I substitute taught I went by "Ms. Morgan." The kids would always ask what my first name was, but I wouldn't tell them.

  16. UPDATE they are going to Vail, CO My brother is getting married this August (two months after my wedding). So they will have recently returned from Mexico. They also want to avoid the carribean in August due to hurricane season. They will be flying out of Houston, TX. Someone suggested lake Tahoe to them. He wasn't specific about what he was looking for. Just something nice & affordable. It has already been an expensive year (several trips, my wedding, their wedding and possibly buying a house). California is off the list because they were there recently. North Carolina is off the list because if they were in my state I'd want to go see them, but visiting your brother on his honeymoon isn't really right. Also, it's hot here in August. A place that has nice weather in August would be good. Suggestions for locations? Places to stay? Things to do?

It was at that moment I knew I would hyphonate. I'm not a feminist or anything like that, I just wanted to keep that part of my identity. I was very fortunate that my husband (my FI at the time) was very supportive of my decision. Like Mr's? Ewww! I don't like that at all! But, I feel like the definitions of words evolve over time & Mrs=Mr's is way outdated. If you hyphenate are you Ms.? I've always prefered Ms to Miss. Miss sounds like a little girl to me. At the DMV they told me I couldn't pick Ms if I hadn't been married before. I always thought of Ms as an option for not wanting to be Miss or Mrs. I'm excited to be Dr. eventually & just drop all the Miss, Mrs, Ms stuff.

Sarah, Thank you.... too funny! I saw this wedding (beach weddings - lots of BDW girls watched it). Anyway, they had their logo EVERYWHERE at their wedding. It was even drawn with gold in some places. I think it was on their aisle runner. Just about every place you could squeeze in a logo. It might have been projected on the wall too.

Yep, I think for most of us it's coming down to our own personal situation more than being traditional or not. Not even personal preference really. If I was about 3 years farther along in my career & liked my last name I'd hold on to that sucker. One last name I would never change to is Morgan. I was always worried about falling in love with a Blank Morgan and being Morgan Morgan. I didn't even care to get to know guys with the last name Morgan.
