Excursion vs. OOT bags
rodent replied to MrsTrussell2B's topic in Destination Weddings in Dominican Republic
I was going to say, that instead of an OOT bag you could always just have a welcome letter & meet the guests page. I think it would be a nice touch to welcome your guests. But, it doesn't require a bag of goodies. -
Perhaps Marco can suggest someone else who would be available at 6:00? But, maybe it is worth waiting the extra 30 minutes to have him be your officiant. Possibly you can work on getting the extra 30 minutes for music. Or maybe there are other ways to adjust your timeline. Take pictures before the wedding?

Cancun Studios
rodent replied to KirstenRN6's topic in Destination Wedding in Riviera Maya, Cancun & surrounding areas
There is a search bar in the upper right side. There have been many posts about Cancun Studios. You should be able to find your information. -
I went crazy looking for it one time too. Ann found it for me. This time I knew a trick to find it. I know so many of the pictures are posts from this site. So I right clicked one & checked the properties. There was the web address for this photobucket site.

Excursion vs. OOT bags

For example, one room will have 2 aunts. I will give them each a tote, cup, & hair clip. But, they will just get one first aid kit, pen, notepad. http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t16807 All my stuff packs up tight. I did cups that stack in each other. The oriental trading stuff comes in bags that have it all squished together. I'm a heavy packer, but Mike isn't so I'll be taking one of his bags for wedding stuff. I'm not taking wedding decorations to cut down on what I need to pack. I also tried to keep my bags practical. I wanted to give guests things I thought they could use. I thought OOT bags was one of the most fun things to make. But, if you aren't that in to it, don't do it. I find it easier to charter a van than to rent a van. I don't like renting vehicles internationally. I'm always afraid we'll wreck it & owe all sorts of money. We rented a car in Paris & they billed us extra for no reason & we couldn't do anything about it. -

Like on house hunters international they will say a house is 100,000 pounds equivilent to 200,000 dollars. But, it doesn't exactly work like that because they wouldn't be paying in dollars. So I read $12,000 & think wow that's one expensive ring. Well, I still think $6,000 is pretty expensive but I'm cheap We need an emoticon of tammy pulling levers. That's how the interwebnets work right?

Excursion vs. OOT bags
rodent replied to MrsTrussell2B's topic in Destination Weddings in Dominican Republic
I planned easier to pack OOT bags. Also 50 guests only has to be 25 bags (1 per room). I don't think you have to do OOT bags though. I'm not familiar with DR, but I found cheaper excursion options for my guests in RM. I'm chartering a van & taking them to the ruins. It's less than $15 per person for the van & admission into the ruins. Maybe you can find something like that in your area. Another idea I had was to take everyone to a great lagoon for snorkeling & pay for their equipment rental. That would also have been inexpensive. -
Photographer

It could either be between your wedding & reception if there is time. Or the next day for some trash the dress shots or just day after pictures together. Search around the forum & you will find great photographers for every budget. Some hotel photographers are good but others are not. I was not impressed by the option my hotel had. Have you already booked this hotel? Another option would be to switch to a hotel that lets you pick your own photographer. I really hate the "no outside vendors" policies. -

The luckless 28 year-old's dreams of giving his sweetheart, Leanne, 26, the ultimate proposal have literally vanished into thin air. Hajji, of Hackney, east London, had concealed a $12,000 engagement ring inside a helium balloon. The idea was that she would pop the balloon as he popped the question. But as he left the shop, a gust of wind pulled the balloon from his hand and he watched the ring -- and quite possibly the affections of his girlfriend -- sailing away over the rooftops. "I couldn't believe it," he told The Sun newspaper. "I just watched as it went further and further into the air. "I felt like such a plonker. It cost a fortune and I knew my girlfriend would kill me." Hajji spent two hours in his car trying to chase and find the balloon, without success. "I thought I would give Leanne a pin so I could literally pop the question," he said. "But I had to tell her the story -- she went absolutely mad. Now she is refusing to speak to me until I get her a new ring." He is hoping the ring will still turn up. "It would be amazing if someone found it," he added. I just became curious why a London paper would give a price in dollars. So I looked up the story & it said 6000 pounds. To a person in London who gets their salary in pounds, isn't a ring that costs 6000 pounds more like a $6,000 ring? It would just cost us $12,000 because of the exchange rate for the dollar.

Who else if 5 months away? What have you done already?
rodent replied to rodent's topic in Chit Chat Corner!
Here is my 3 months to go update. I realied I should have just titled this "June brides" because the title gets out of date within a month. I'm surprised how many things I've repeated (guestbook, hairflower, booking photographer). I know if I planned again from the beginning I could do everything better, but it's cool that my stuff improves the more I learn. Planning the wedding has been a great learning experience. Your DIY stuff is getting so good! I saw a little typo "Someone who has traveled out of the Canada." Unless that's how you canadians say it.

Oh, I found the picture. Don't know how I missed it before. I wondered how people knew what your dress looked like. I thought maybe they saw it somewhere else. You do look beautiful.
