I'm SOOO excited to get that black dress in the mail. I feel like after the wedding it's going to be my LBD. The April 09 wedding is going to outdoors at a dairy farm/ B&B. I imagine our dresses will be pretty casual. The place is so cute.
  3. I have been a BM 7 times with 2 more on the calendar. Counting the time I was a flower girl & my own wedding, that makes 11 weddings. I thought that deserved a collage.

I wish I knew a way around this I understand it's the photographers art and all, and that is how they make money, but it's pictures of ME for jeebus' sake, and it's not like I'm gonna go advertise with my pics or something. pictures on a website are too low resolution to print so even if do a screen capture, you can't make a photobook with them. a year will go by fast. I have friends who have to wait 4-5 years for theirs.

  9. beautiful. I love cherry blossums. It seems like they just pop up in a day & make everything look so beautiful.

Afterall, he's looking, right? Don't beat me up...I'm just saying how it is for a lot of ladies out there. We are already our own toughest critics. These are the same women that have issues with their men watching porn. "What, I don't give you what you need?" Me? Like the other ladies here, I wouldn't care. Hell, I've been known to point out beautiful women to him. But I do know lots who would. Especially if they come in from the beach wearing their bathing suits and see their men sitting on the bed reading Maxim. very true. I'm not going to throw them in. It's not worth possibly upsetting someone. The guys can just read the tabloids I'm throwing in for the ladies. Instead of airbrushing in those, they tend to try to get the celebs looking their worst
  11. You look so beautiful. can just members see the random thoughts section?
  12. Does this mean your FSIL's party is tomorrow at noon?

It's great, especially as the silly thing gets carsick. But she's moved cross-country in a car, and does get used to it. Re: Pods. I really, really thought this was the way to go! But when I called to get an estimate, they told me that neither NYC or San Diego have parking allowances for them, and there's certainly no room on our "property" to park it. (love apartment life in New York, LOL!) Wonder if we could pack it up fast, and unpack it fast, so that parking wasn't an issue. Since Mark is going to have to work from the day after we leave Mexico, coming back to NYC post-wedding isn't really an option. Although I LOVE the idea of our stuff moving across country while we're sunning ourselves on the Caribbean shore. =) Just have to figure out a way to handle it all... If we drive, I'd have to put all we need to live for the next week, as well as wedding stuff, and my bird, in my little Mini Cooper. Having problems visualizing that one, hee. Christine: I would love any and all suggestions for housing you have! (So far I'm looking at the Hillcrest neighborhood, as it seems quaint enough to keep me satisfied and close enough for Mark to walk or bike to work.) Alyssa: Thanks for the concern, but don't worry, we haven't bought our plane tickets yet. We were being held hostage by the Match, and decided it would make more sense to know where we were moving to and when the residency would start before we bought tickets. And man, I'm so glad we waited! Guess I'd better get my butt in gear and start organizing our wedding, since now it doesn't look like I'll have much leisure time as it gets close. I was worried about that since you are in NYC. Is there a facility where you can take your stuff & load it up since they can't bring it to you? Do you have a lot of stuff? I have a friend that moved from Washington to NC by flying her stuff. She shipped all her books media rate. Then she checked everything else on her flight. It was when southwest allowed 3 checked bags weighing 75 lbs each. Also her parents flew with her so she got all their luggage too. Probably wouldn't work for you. That is so great your bird can fly in the cabin with you. I'd be so scared to check a pet.

  17. Also, save all your moving receipts. You can get a good tax deduction even if you don't itemize.

I labeled my boxes really good when I moved from Texas to NC. I also packed a box that was labeled "open first." It had shampoo, soap, showercutain rings & liner, a pot, plate, bowl, scissors, towel...just all the stuff you might want right away. We had driven 24 hours & unpacked a bunch of stuff in the heat. It was nice being able to shower ASAP. You can also ship your car. I think that can be expensive though. Are you moving a bird? Another option is to leave your bird with someone & your car and then get it later. SD is a place you can do without a car at first right? I've seen friends have to move off fast, so they left their cats, dogs, cars, etc. with someone else for a few weeks.
  19. I'm a phd student on the east coast & I see people move to california for postdocs pretty often. They usually use pods. They drop it off where you live now (if the place you live now allows that- if not I think there is another way). You fill it with your stuff & it shows up when you get there. I would not do a UHAUL this close to your wedding. Also with the cost of gas I doubt it's any better. Here is an idea of what you could do: 1 Pack everything you need for the wedding so you have it with you. Also hold on to the necessities to get you by until you settle down again. 2. put everything is a pod & send it on it's way to california 3. get your apartment lined up in san diego (I'm assuming you are renting an apartment). Confirm with them it's ok to have a pod delivered. I've seen them sitting at my complex for weeks waiting for someone to show up. But, I'm pretty sure they have storage facilities too. 4. go have a great time in mexico while your stuff is making it's way across the country 5. when you return to NYC, pack up the last of your things & fly to california so he can get started Would something like that work? 20. I love how much we all hate pantyhose. I haven't worn them in so long. I remember when I was a kid it wasn't even an option not to.
