I've had bridal salons charge me shipping because the dress wasnt in stock.
  2. We have a bunch of pictures together, but usually we are not spruced up. So I was excited to take some pictures where we looked a little fancier. We just went around Duke campus & gardens with a friend who took the pictures. They aren't pro or anything. He just used my little digital camera. But, I have enjoyed having the pictures. I used them for our STDs & other things.

  5. It is really pretty. I'll see if I can also find it for less. Don't forget about alterations when considering their budgets. Hemming is usually about $35-$40. Other alterations can be more.

No one should want their BMs to feel uncomfortable standing in front of everyone. It's really hard to tell how a dress will look, especially in a VS catalog. They put the dresses on perfect women & then airbrush them. I've gotten some stuff from there that didn't even resemble the outfit in the catalog. It's expensive & time consuming to be a BM so they deserve some nice pictures too. Sometimes the girls are just being ridiculous & complaining about every little thing. But, if they truely don't feel comfortable in it then might as well let them return it. In my 9 times of being a BM, only 1 of the dresses was something I would actually pick out myself. The rest were fine, but I didn't love them. But, I didn't feel like I looked terrible in them. I don't think BMs shouldn't expect to get a dress the love, but they shouldn't have to wear one they hate.

The supplies were cheap. The hankys were about $6 for 10 (in the mens department). The embroidery stuff was only a few dollars. I've been told cross stiching is easy. I plan to look for a guide online. I'll let y'all know how it goes once I get a chance to get started.
  8. I'm just keeping my ering. I love the simplicity of it so I don't want to add a band to it. I'll just give him back the ering after we take our pictures before the wedding. Then he will put it back on me. if I ever feel like I need a band some day, it will be an anniversary gift. But for now, I want to keep it how it is.
  9. can you get a dress from davids in less than a month though? I've noticed a lot of VS clothes can be really unforgiving. the whole point of that dress is that it is something that can be worn again & again. If they don't like it, it's really not worth it.

  12. I would normally say less time & a great photographer, but I consider claudia to be great. I really think it depends on the couple & what you have planned for after the wedding. We don't have a reception planned so the most important thing to me are the lovey pictures we will take before & after the wedding.

I think they keep costs down because they don't have the overhead a bridal salon would. usually a bridal salon is in a nice building with sales people that make commission. I felt guilty going into a salon to try on the dresses. But, they were so rude to me that I was happy I wasn't going to give them any money. I couldn't understand why they were so rude to me at first. Then I realized it's because I was looking at BM dresses not wedding gowns. If they are working on commission, they'd prefer to help a bride. When i asked for help they asked if the bride was coming too. She lives in a different state. They wouldn't even measure me.
  14. i got some from fat wallet yesterday. free shipping & returns & a tiered discount. oh, & a free beach bag.

Too many pictures for BDW? Don't be silly! They were beautiful. I loved the pre ceremony pics. I'm so excited we are doing this...and in a couple of months!!!
  17. Standing with one foot in front of the other is slimming too. I have a friend who always does that when we pose for pictures. In the words of Tyra Banks "elongate your neck." I always have to remember that for pictures or I have a double chin. Also, I think a longer necklace will be flattering. maybe something in a Y shape.

  19. I just received a BM dress from TJ formal yesterday. It came in a little earlier than estimated. It fits perfect & I saved over $100. If you google "TJ formal coupon" you can find a 10% off coupon.

Process was easy but orders were just placed so it will be January before the dresses arrive... I just received a BM dress from TJ formal yesterday. It took about 9 weeks to get it, but they estimated 11. It was Bill Levkoff. So I looked up on his website how the measurements work. From that it said I needed an 8. I went to a bridal store & tried on some Bill Levkoff dresses in 6, 8 & 10. The 8s fit. So I felt comfortable orderering the dress. There wasn't a place in town that had my same dress for me to try that on. It fits perfect. I also saved over $100. If you google TJ formal coupon you can find a 10% off coupon.
