The coral reefs actually have a lot to do with the ecological systems and the survival of certain species of fish. In Jamaica they would actually dive down during our snorkeling tour and BREAK off a piece of the coral. It just seemed so unnatural to me. I do not get the whole collecting shells on the beach. Maybe they are trying to rejuvenate the large amount of beaches that were washed away from the hurricane?? Just my 2 cents That is terrible! One thing that I really liked about riviera maya was how they work to maintain the ecosystem while still making it a place for tourist. Coral needs to be protected. It is a vital part of the ecosystem. There wouldn't be good snorkeling without coral.
  2. I bought a used camcorder from amazon. I might just resell it after the wedding. Depends on how much I enjoy using it. It was about $130. Then I bought a longer life battery for about $30 & a case for it.
  3. http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t12483 I bought a bra from walmart called "shantini lite". It was only $17. Much cheaper than the victoria secret one. It stays on great. I plan on testing it on a hot day too. A friend of mine said she wore one on a really humid day to a BBQ & it stayed on fine. It won't lift, but it will create cleavage by holding them together.
  4. Collecting shells is a problem for the animals that live inside them. Probably just a few shells on the beach, especially the flat ones, don't make a difference. But, any shell that would be an animals home & protection shouldn't be picked up. Think about how full those shops are with shells. They don't use the best practices when collecting them & can harm the coral. So I just avoid stuff like that all together.
  5. You could go to Coba which is closer. I'm planning a group trip to coba & then a trip to a cenote afterwards.

Maybe if enough of us complain, it will get passed on to upper management .... Way to go! I do think it will make an impact.
  7. Monica, your cups turned out so cute. The rub-ons do take a while. I just plop in front of the TV & do them so it doesn't feel like it takes forever.
  8. i think the time limit is 20 minutes. Its higher quality too.

It's a really great program. http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t6873 Also, check out Vimeo. Much better than photobucket & you tube. Vimeo, Video Sharing For You

  12. You could always skip the OOT bags & just give guests a nice welcome letter. I think I've seen several size 4 dresses for sale on the forum.
  13. I lost these beautiful earrings my grandma gave me. I was so upset with myself. One day I found them in the pocket of a bag I never used. No idea why they were there. I also lost a watch once. I tore the place up looking for it. I gave up & bought another. Then one day I went to sell an old printer on ebay. The watch was inside the printer. I really hope your ring shows up. Sometimes you have to stop looking to find it. You could get a silver & CZ temporary ring. Sterling Silver Jewelry & Cubic Zirconia Jewelry @ Inspired Silver This website has beautiful stuff.
  14. I posted this in October when I was still getting comfortable with photoshop. I was much more familiar with powerpoint. Using a program like photoshop or lumapix to make the whole thing is better. That way you don't lose resolution with powerpoint & have to add it back with photoshop. It works, but it's better to avoid doing that. My postcards turned out great following these steps, I just know it's not the best way to go about doing this. It's funny for me to see these old threads. It feels like it was so long ago I started learning how to do this stuff, but it was only 6 months ago.
  15. Victoria's Secret Coupon Codes - all coupons, discounts and promo codes for victoriassecret.com

  17. I went by today & got the brown tank & white shirt with blue flowers on the top. They are both really cute. I also picked up a few other things while I was there. Thanks!

So far, I believe everyone has been able to use their own photographer without a problem. Heidi just used Robin and while I was at the rsort I saw another photgrapher taking wedding pics. So I think this is more of a photographer trying to hold onto some business rather than a strict resort policy. What if someone tried to bring in a local photographer? I think the way people get around it is by saying the photographer coming with them is a friend. It's not as bad as EDR because everyone has managed to get around it, but I still think they should change their policy. Maybe not as drastic as to consider a boycott.

I believe she will find another beautiful resort which has more respect for their customer, and the customers choices in regards to their wedding's. It is unfortunate since it looks like it is a beautiful resort. It can't hurt for her to shot EDR a quick email & let them know why she is taking her business elsewhere.
