I just finished a book. Now I'm about to get ready to go out. I don't go out much. I like staying in & have a couple of friends over. But, tonight I'm going to a house party with lots of dancing.

HELP! Advice on my ceremony

He really was great (if that's the same guy). I think it touched me because it seemed so real. So often I think ceremonies get kind of bland & don't really touch on what a marriage is really about. The hand ceremony gets me everytime. I hope I'm not all snotty from the crying. Maybe I should make a recording of it I can listen to on my ipod to desensitize myself -
Help me plan my wedding
rodent replied to Nrvsbride's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
Does the church have a rec room? Could you rent that & cater something? Would eloping get you in trouble with them too? Sounds like you don't want all the stuff, but just want to get married. It's sad these other things have to get in the way. I personally love the idea of having a backyard catered thing, especially since they have a huge backyard. But, if they are against it that probably wouldn't work. I am really happy to hear you are getting married in June. I didn't know what you were doing after the DW was canceled. My brain is full of money saving ideas & i'd be happy to help. -
HELP! Advice on my ceremony
rodent replied to ErinB's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
I think it looks good. Rachel, I also really like yours. Thanks for posting these. I need to start working on our ceremony. We also do not want to have it religious. I'm sure these places are used to a non-religious ceremony & can accomidate it. How does it work? Does the person doing the ceremony contact you some time before to find out what you want said? My date-buddy is working on her's so it makes me feel like I should be working on mine -

Don't get me wrong, I have a great job and an awesome guy and friends. But I'm not doing anything life changing or anything that's making other people have a better life. So tomorrow I'm going to change that. Any ideas? What do you do that makes the world a better place for others? I'm thinking I'm not going to cure cancer (I can't even stop FH from snoring..lol) so I thought I should start a little smaller. It's funny that this is your example. I do genetics research & we always joke about our job being so important because we are curing cancer. My research ties in to cancer research, but I am so far away from anything clinical. But, one of my friends it much more likely to have an impact. So I say my important role is to keep her motivated to cure cancer. I also organize the happy hours for my program. The friend I took the job over from said, "Just think, you will be doing so much good by bringing people together who might collaborate & actually cure cancer."

I have a lot of transcripts! At $6 each, applying to grad schools was expensive.

What do you make your collages in? they look great so maybe that program would be better. I'll work on making a photoshop only guide while I eat lunch today & post it...it should be up in 15 minutes or so

Sending out Wedding Announcements HELP!
rodent replied to Betsy's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
We are sending out announcements (but not having an AHR) I have decided to put a wedding picture on it with our wedding website. Our website will have a link to where they can see more pictures & our home address. That way if they do want to send something they don't have to track down our address, but it would seem like (or be) a request for gifts. I'm going to make mine vista print postcards. -

I don't remember the steps....I'll try to open WMM from work...

Getting "married" before DW?

It is also the 3rd busiest time to visit Jamaica. So we were going to wait until after the 15th since rates drop almost 30%. Maybe we could work it out getting married here first. What about getting married here 1 year early...Is that too far in advance. I just don't know what to do? Sorry for the rambling!! Any suggestions? I know this is corny but I want our wedding date to signify something in our relationship...We met on 4/3, first date 4/14, moved in 2/14 etc. Should I just pick a date to pick a date?? we will probably do 1 month before on the same day, May 21st. -
one thing that often works well is to spilt up the meals & put different people in charge. So one night you might be incharge of dinner & the next night someone else cooks. You can bring board games too. when my friends were up a few weeks ago it was like a weekend long slumber party. It was hard to believe we are 25-26, not 15 when we get together. Another tricky thing is who sleeps where. I think the best thing to do is draw numbers & let people pick in that order. It's hard not to be a little annoyed when you are sharing a bunk bed & someone else has a king and you'll all paying the same.

I know, I love when photographers do neat things with rings. I hope it all works out for both of you! Sounds like y'all have things under control. I had a nightmare that I was getting ready for my wedding & realized I totally forgot to make a plan to meet up with my photographer. So I found my cell phone & she had texted me "1885." So I assume that means I should go to the hotel library & find a book labeled "1885" to get a clue about where she is. There was this really weird guy who was working in the library & he was so lonely because no one ever stopped in. So he tried to make it really hard for me to find the book so I'd stay & chat. All this time I'm getting super stressed about having time to get ready. I finally find the book & it's about the american revolution. Then it dawns on me that the number must have refered to a room number, not a library book. I have crazy dreams.
