I see your wedding already passed, but I'll post for others who come across this. We saw each other for about 30 minutes before. It was wonderful. He stood on top of a staircase & I walked up to him & gave him a big hug. I liked having that moment semi-private. It also helped me get the nerves out. Seeing each other before isn't just for convenience, but also it can be a really special moment on the wedding day. It's really a personal preference. You can see my before pics at "My Wedding Album" link.

Serious Question about - 24 - last episode aired on 24th May 2010
rodent replied to Mrs D To Be!'s topic in Random Thoughts
Some shows get blocked in other regions. I learned this while my friend was in London a year & couldn't keep up with any of her shows online. You can always look at it as something to look forward to when the wedding is over to combat post-wedding gloomies. -

I may have just posted my non-wedding pictures. If you click the link to "my wedding album" in my siggy you can see my wedding pictures. Other people posted links to theirs in this thread, but their photographer may have removed them by now. -

I posted lots of pictures in this thread. Just scan through it. -
Some people just think a wedding has to be a formal thing. Maybe he can't picture a wedding without a tuxedo. That is his own lack of creativity or adventure. Don't let it get you down. Cloudy days are awesome for photography so your wedding pictures should look even more amazing. Clouds make for a really soft & flattering light. Looking at the picture in your siggy I think you got lucky.

My newsletter tips would help for a TTD, even though they are focused on children. The one that would probably help the most is knowing that it will be a lot easier to do your TTD in good light. Plan to start about an hour before sunset when the light is softer. Most people can get a few nice shots in great light. Now to get your wedding covered nicely, you really need someone who really knows what they are doing & has lots of practice. Weddings move so fast. To cover everything & do it right, a photographer really needs the experience & skill. I had an ultra-budget wedding & was going to skip photography & just hope enough guests got good shots. It was making me nervous. I finally decided to up my photography budget & I am so glad I did. I do think the older family members didn't get why I'd spend so much on photography, but they got it afterwards. They had never seen wedding pictures like mine. After sorting through all the shots my guests took, I was really glad I didn't reley on just those. In the bright sun, most peoples pictures didn't turn out. Now that I know photography, I can see why they didn't work & I can see what it took our pro photographer to get spectacular images while the guests were too dark. It's not even 2 years since my wedding & the photographs mean even more to me now. There are so many that I consider priceless, like this one of my father. A huge print from my wedding is currently the main decoration in my living room. So often I think about how glad I am that the girls at BDW convinced me to splurge on my wedding photography. So my advice would be if you can cut back anywhere else, consider it. Unless you really don't care a lot about pictures. Some people don't which is understandable. If you are going to reley on guests pictures, you might want to take a card reader & a computer or another way to back up the images. It can be hard to get the images from guests after the wedding. Not everyone is set up to burn CDs. I ended up paying per image on snapfish to get some from guests.

Whether Jodee Berry is ultimately successful against Hooters remains to be seen. However, she has already survived summary judgment, which suggests that Hooters will end up spending substantially more money defending this lawsuit than it would have cost them to perform. Our moral: If you are going to use the farce, beware of the dark side.

I was curious what happened, so I looked this up Former Hooters waitress settles toy Yoda suit PANAMA CITY, Fla. (AP) — A former waitress has settled her lawsuit against Hooters, the restaurant that gave her a toy Yoda doll instead of the Toyota she thought she had won. Jodee Berry, 27, won a beer sales contest last May at the Panama City Beach Hooters. She believed she had won a new Toyota and happily was escorted to the restaurant's parking lot in a blindfold. But when the blindfold was removed, she found she had won a new toy Yoda — the little green character from the Star Wars movies. David Noll, her attorney, said Wednesday that he could not disclose the settlement's details, although he said Berry can now go to a local car dealership and "pick out whatever type of Toyota she wants." After the stunt, Berry quit the restaurant and filed a lawsuit against Gulf Coast Wings, the restaurant's corporate owner, alleging breach of contract and fraudulent misrepresentation. The restaurant's manager, Jared Blair, has said the whole contest was an April Fools' joke.

Great website for photo printing, and stuff
rodent replied to [email protected]'s topic in Buy / Sell / Trade Archives
I have been having a much better experience with artscow since my first orders. I started using them when they were new. Shipping usually killed the deal. Now they do a lot of deals with free shipping. I just ordered 3 round 3" magnets for $7 shipped. They are for putting on the diswasher to say clean or dirty. You use one & rotate. I ordered one for me, my mom & bro with a pig picture that is a family joke. I really do love making silly little personalized stuff & artscow is so cheap you can do that. I made my brother a silly christmas ornament. I made my stepdad a tile coaster with a picture of a sign he made. I haven't gotten to see these, but I made pencile bags for my nieces & nephews. Their moms said they looked good, but I don't know if they'd tell me that the were bad. The stuff isn't awesome, but it does the job for something fun. -
I say don't tell him. Another thing that could happen would be that he'd say not to do it. A friend of mine told her husband she was going to take bd pics & he talked her out of it. The thing is, it's really just as much or maybe more for the woman. I did have a hard time keeping it all a secret so I gave him the option to know what I was up to or just know that I'm doing something that day. He picked the secret option. It was nice to not have to make excuses to what I was off doing. my shoot was out of town, so harder to cover. And our place was small so it wasn't easy to hide the box of outfits.

Anyone use beach mats instead of chairs?
rodent replied to RedHeadBride's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
I can't picture it. Everyone will be down low & looking up at you. I know several of my guests would have had a hard time getting up. If it was an ultra short ceremony, maybe But, don't forget your guests will have to get out there before you. -
Questioning if we will have an AHR at all?!?
rodent replied to August2010Bride's topic in At Home Reception (AHR)
I wish we never even considered having an AHR. I just thought it was something we had to do. I spent so much time thinking about it & worrying about it. Then i was so relieved when my brother got engaged and planned to get married right after me. It would be too much for the summer, so we canceled our AHR. Huge relief! My inlaws ended up throwing us a small AHR the day after my brother's wedding. It was great. It was small, simple & I didn't have to plan it. We also canceled the one where we live, because the couple who's house it was going to be at decided to sell. Another relief. I just don't think I was at all interested in AHRs. I wonder why I felt so obligated in the first place. -

I don't like whats on their website & you never know who they are sending to your wedding. Look around here & you'll find many better options. -

Another home question- vinyl/resilient tile

We painted a bedroom in a rental a very similar blue and I loved it. I'll definitly post pictures. We were going to try to get this done in the next few weeks before my family comes to visit. We decided not to rush (we've both been so busy lately.) Now I think we'll just wait until we get our tax refund. That is inspiration for me to get the thing filed this weekend. -
Another home question- vinyl/resilient tile

We bought a house with linoleum all over the first level and it's so ugly. It's also peeling up in the corners. I would love to replace it but the cost has kept me from even looking into it. You can find some tile for $1 a sq foot. The one I picked out is $5.50 sq ft in the store & $3.50 online. I'll probably order from SouthCypress.com: Hardwood Floors, Ceramic Tile, Laminate Floors and Area Rugs at wholesale prices! I'm first going to see if my local flooring company will match, because I'd rather buy from them. They were so helpful & let me check out samples. Their install price is $5.50 a sq foot (going on to a concrete slab). If we didn't ahve the slab subfloor it would be $1 more. I'm still meeting with more people for install estiamtes. We have 1,036 sq feet. The cost of the tile (with a 10% excess) will be about $4,500. Install will be about $4,500-$5,500. Grout will run about $175. We'll remove the old floor ourselves. Hopefully there are not many concrete cracks to repair. We are estimating around $9,300-$10,300. A rough estimate would be $9 a sq foot installed. You can get cheaper tile by buying ceramic. Porcelain is more durable & stain resistant. -
Master bedroom paint color advice needed

I might try to do a panoramic shot so it can be something like 20inches high & 72 inches wide. one weird thing about having the drawers in the bed, is we can't do end tables. I'm thinking about hanging shelves on the walls next to the bed. The room feels much larger with the bed. I thought there wouldn't be room for anything else, but we can easily fit in a couple of dressers. I keep finding things I like on craigslist, but not getting around to picking them up.
