Some day that week I am supposed to go to a friends house to learn the michael jackson thriller dance. Is it wrong to let my wedding date get influenced by Mandy's wedding date & thriller lessons?

Can they shorten their trip? Couldn't they at least go for the weekend like 3nights-4 days type of thing? Is there traveler's insurance? If so you can usually cancel or at the very least change the dates for a shorter time. I think that makes a lot of sense, but they should have brought that up before the commitment date. Most of my guests are staying only 3 days so it's a quick & cheap trip. But, If $2000 was too much, they really should have told you something before they screwed you like this. I am SO ANGRY for you! If they told you in advance they couldn't afford it or were even just concerned about the cost, there would have been so many options. It really sucks that they even waited until it was too late for the trip to go to anyone else or anything. I can not believe they knowingly stuck you with their bill. I seriously can not believe this. it wouldn't have been wrong if they just said they don't have the money. What is so wrong is how they waited until it was too late to say something. That is so cruel. Do they know you will now have to foot the bill for their empty seat? OK I have to calm down. I think I need to say a few serinity nows for you. -

Wouldn't you just be out the deposit? Isn't that what a deposit is? The ammount you lose if you back out? I can understand them saying $2000 is too much IF it hadn't already been paid. But, once it gets paid they can't back out! I know it's too late for you, but I think it really helps with a DW to never be counting on anyone for anything. To fill your required numbers, to pay you back a deposit...nothing. -

The teacher took this mark twain quote "Get your facts first, and then you can distort them as much as you please" and did an evolutionary graph of how it was distorted throughout the internet. It was pretty funny. So maybe the quotes you used were so distorted it wasn't even plagerism anymore

To get FI engagement anniversary gift?
rodent replied to christenew's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
We are getting married on the same day as when we got engaged so I don't have that problem. If not, I might just do something sweet that day. Like put together a silly card or something. One year Mike sent me a "happy cheeseburger day" email because it was the anniversary of this day we went to lunch together before we were dating. -
Quote: Originally Posted by SunBride I just made photobooks for my MIL and SIL (also a bridesmaid) last week. I can't wait to get them. I'm going to make myself one too, but I don't know if I will use mypublisher. There were some things about the program that bugged me, like trying to fit the text into their little caption boxes (there is no way to make the caption boxes larger or move them around, and they only have like 10 fonts to choose from, and most of them are plain boring fonts). Although they have lots of different page layouts, sometimes they still didn't have anything to match my needs, i.e. I wanted 5 photos on a page, one of them vertical and the others horizontal, but they wouldn't have any layouts like that, so I'd have to change my photo choose to either more horizontals or more verticals (just a random example, but this happened to me several times). Also they have different styles of layouts, like some are more classic and plain, others are more fun / collage style. But you have to use the same style for the whole book, whereas I would have liked a mixture of classic and fun layouts (the classic ones always have the photos straight, there are none that are like diagnal or layered). I also didn't like the wedding background design and colors, they only have one choice (for the wedding background), and I didn't think the color went well with my photos. So I just stuck with plain white background. So those are some of my complaints about mypublisher, but overall I'm still happy, I just would be happier if I could find another company that is more versatile. Shipping to Canada is expensive unless you are ordering many of the same ones. Shipping is 17$ + 5$ for a duplicate (But so if you are ordering 3 different books it would be 51$ for shipping! ) There is no shipping discount for larger orders unless you are order multiples of the exact same book). In my case I want to put together different books for myself, my ILs and my own family, because I want the book to have more of a focus on those people who it's for. At least I will use duplicates for MIL & SIL, and also for my Mom and my sister, so that will reduce the costs. I suggest getting a program like lumapix (if you have a PC) to make your collages. After working with a program to make my collages, I can not stand to use a template. You have the ability to lay out your pictures whoever you want in any size.

Are you having your honeymoon at the same resort?

I'm sure you'll be satisfied in Mexico, after all one can't really complain about being on vacation...lol (it beats being at work!) Brazil is on our list of places to go too, fun! Yep, my brother's wedding in Texas in August & Mike's college roommate's wedding in Ohio in September. We are also both in the wedding party. Since I moved to North Carolina 4 years ago, I have only planned one vacation that wasn't going home for Christmas or a wedding. Once I leave grad school, all my friends here will dispurse across the country. So that will probably make for a bunch more out of state weddings. Sometimes I think I need to stop making new friends so I can start taking non-wedding vacations. Or at least not be a BM anymore. But, I haven't been to so many places in the US, so I figure that's how I'll see the country. One wedding at a time I do RSVP "no" if I'm don't want to go atleast. All these weddings are just people we are close too. And I love shaking it on the dance floor the way you can only get away with at a wedding dance. They may not play Baby got Back, Da Dip, and Rumpshaker in clubs anymore, but it will always be at a wedding dance. And I've got to keep my macarena skills sharp. OK, I'm done -

Price wise it would have been less costly without the additional flight but being in Jamaica - alone - after being in Mexico with everyone was refreshingly awesome. Plus we stepped off the plane as newleyweds and got to make memories in a place that was only ours, we shared Mexico...if that makes sense. But yes, a vacation 6 months later would be nice too That's great that it gave you your second wind. I worry I'd be burnt, sick & tired. Also, it's really hard for Mike to take off more than a week from work at a time. Then we have 2 more weddings this summer. Precious vacation time. Our plan is if we don't feel satisfied with our honeymoon time, we'll get a cabin in the NC mountains when we get back. I really want to go to Brazil or Costa Rica next. But, I want to do a ton of planning before that trip to know all the places I want to see. And with all the riviera maya planning & wedding planning, it would be too much to do. So I think planning the next trip will be how I prevent the post wedding blues. -

It freezes up on me even when I'm making short videos. have you tried rehans pan zoom effects? they really enhance movie maker. It's $8 for the download.

Nibblet only gets to listen to the edited version. I haven't made the edited version yet, but I plan on it. A friend might use this mix at her wedding so I need to clean it up. I also like the edited versions of most of these songs better. "I'm not a player I just crush a lot" is so much funnier. -

rodent replied to evtalbot's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
we are staying at the same place for a week. Most of our guests are only staying 3 days. I think it will be more relaxing to not worry about packing up & changing hotels. I don't think I'd like back to back vacations. I imagine I'll be pretty worn out after the week we have planned. I would rather save the vacation money & go somewhere 6 months or a year later. -

My music is MP3s, not MP4s like itunes uses so I haven't had this problem. But, I think what you do is burn the song on a CD & then save the song on your computer off the CD. It should then be an MP3 you can use in movie maker. You can crop the songs in movie maker. Betsy ended up using photostory which she said was easier.

OK, so now knowing it's not just a numbers thing or age difference then I change my vote to do what you feel best with. Whats the cheesy saying? Friends are the family we pick for ourselves. There is nothing wrong with being closer to friends than family. But then there is that blood is thicker than water saying. Oh, I don't know which saying to go with. Let us know what you decide.
