Question for those against dolphin swims/rides...
rodent replied to RyanAmanda's topic in Chit Chat Corner!
And I found this from another website against swimming with wild dolphins. http://www.wdcs.org/submissions_bin/...nt_April08.pdf The dolphin watching tour sounds good, but then the fact that they also profit from swims would make me not want to support them. I'd look for a company that only does the watches. New Zealand looks like an amazing place for dolphin & whale watching! [email protected] <[email protected]> Email this place & they can probably suggest a good company for you -

I do not know of any specific companies. I just googles "swim with dolphins new zealand" and found this website Kaikoura, South Island, New Zealand. Watch and swim with the wild dusky dolphins in the ocean I haven't had time to do more research on it, but from their website it looks like they might do it in a dolphin friendly way. I always try to get my info from a different source though. OK I just came across this. It's just from some random website though. Swimming with dolphins in the wild is an amazing experience because you get the opportunity to interact with these incredibly friendly and intelligent animals on their own turf. Unlike captive dolphins who have no choice but to interact with human beings whether they want to or not, wild dolphins can choose whether they want to stick around and swim with you and if they don't they have the freedom to simply disappear into the deep blue sea which makes it all the more special when they do decide to stay (which occurs on a frequent basis). There is a huge debate raging about the ethics of swimming with captive dolphins and even though there are definite benefits for humans (treatment for depression and disabilities) captivity is harmful to the dolphins as they suffer from stress and illness and have a much shorter life expectancy than similar dolphins in the wild. The demand to swim with captive dolphins also encourages capture from wild populations that are already under threat which is very detrimental to the environment. On the other hand, studies conducted on the effects of humans swimming with dolphins in the wild have shown that there seem to be no ill effects to the animals if it is done responsibly and sensibly (not by chasing and herding them or noisy splashing in the water). The jury is still out because long term trends need to be taken into consideration but until such time as the scientific uncertainty is cleared up or the dolphins move away because they are feeling harassed, responsible swimming with wild dolphins is an ethical way to interact with them and tourism revenues generated provide a strong incentive for dolphin conservation. So if you have a dream is to go swimming with dolphins, going the wild route with an ethical and responsible operator is the way to do it. Here are the top five places in the world to swim with wild dolphins... 1. Kaikoura, New Zealand The best place in the world to swim with wild dusky dolphins because the success rate of finding and swimming with the pods is very high. The dolphins are attracted to the nutrients in the water that are available due to a 1200 meter trench situated just off the coast. -
that is how I feel on all forums but this one.

I want to make a slideshow after the wedding blending together pictures & videos from all the fun. There will be 21 of us going on the Coba excursion in 2 vans. We are going to ask them to drop some people off who don't want to go to the cenote & then come back to pick the rest up. I emailed to see if that is OK, but didn't heard back. We have the vans for 7 hours so I don't think it would be a problem. Maybe I'll have to pay extra for gas. Thanks again for the tip. I really think it will be the perfect excursion for my group.

Hmmm, fast for some slow for others. I might try a different file type. I need to see if photobucket will support png files. Or would a gif be faster? -

My header has a photograph on one side & a beaker on the other. i'd show you but the whole thing is a mess right now. It's still in an experiemental stage so it looks like a train wreck. I'm slowly putting this all together so that after my wedding I can start taking on some projects. I am excited about it. I have really loved the creative outlet I have found by wedding planning. Thanks Janet, I think that will be my title. I might just make it Bloglab.com if it isn't taken. They can all be a branch of Morgan's DesignLab.

I am starting up a business after my wedding (just a side project, not quiting the day job) to design custom blogs for google blogger. I'll be doing stuff like custom backgrounds, slideshow headers, larger pictures, etc. Just all the stuff that makes a blog more unique than the templates. As many of you know, planning my wedding has become a design hobby for me. I want to start up a side project after the wedding to keep doing all these projects. So I'm trying to come up with a name for my website. Blog Designs? Blog Science? I'm calling my design website "Morgan's Photolab" and the tagline is "A scientist addicted to photoshop." i'd love to hear your ideas! TIA!

Great. It took about 1-2 seconds for me the first time, but longer on kristie's computer. Its going fast on her's now. Must have been a glitch. I'm really glad to see it's up to speed now. Glad y'all like it. We are loving the leopard Thanks! -
How fast does the picture on the top load on your computer? It seemed to have a deley earlier. I have it hosted on photobucket so they might have been having problems. The previous header was the same size & loaded quick so I don't know what else could be wrong. Photography By Kristie I just uploaded a new blog header for kristie last night & wanted to make sure everything was working properly. Please let me know how many seconds the picture on the top takes to load. Also, if you know what kind of internet connection you have or just a general "fast or slow" description of your connection. TIA!-

We are chartering two vans with jorge to see coba & visit a cenote. Thanks for the suggestion! My friends & family are so excited about it.

To Have or Not to Have a Bridal Party
rodent replied to SgtPepperette's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
I was going to take the wait to see who books approach. Then we decided just to skip it. I am really glad we did. I would have a hard time picking a MOH. I'm so close to several girls but in unique ways i can't pinpoint one to make MOH. So I just picked 9 honorary bridesmaids & made them all a silly photo present with a sweet letter. Most can't make it to the wedding, but this was a way to let them know I care. I really couldn't be happier with our decision for no bridal party. It has elimintaed a huge sorce of stress for most brides. Even if things go smoothly, there is a lot of work involved. with less than 2 months to go, I can say it's been pretty close to stress free planning this wedding. -

That was what I thought, but I can't find the template. I'll keep looking. Thanks! Just a picture will be simple. You don't need to use any programs then. I think the simplist one I found has a blue bar on the right side and a line in the middle. I picked b&w printing so it came out grey. They might have some example text, but you can just leave it blank.

How do you add that line that runs down the middle so you can separate the left side (where you write your note) and the right side (where you put the recipents address?) Also, for the front side, do you really have to work in photoshop or PP or one of those softwares? I just downloaded the picture straight from my computer with no editing and it looked pretty good. What do you think? no you dont have to. You can upload the picture right to vistaprint & add your text there. I made my postcard with a picture, logo & some text so I had to design it outside of vistaprint. You can use a vistaprint template that has a line in the back. In power point there is a line option in the draw menu.

Enough people have already said it, but we love sarah here. She was one of the original foum members & did awesome DIY projects while planning her wedding. She was always the first to help out when people needed advice on a DIY project. She helped me so much in designing my STDs & invites. So many people wanted her customs designs & photobooks so we were so excited to see her start up a business. You will not be dissapointed

Question for those against dolphin swims/rides...

I just feel passionatly about it because I was so happy a friend gave me the info & prevented me from supporting it. So it is hard for me to hold back & not spread the word. Once I read about dolphin programs it really broke my heart to know what goes on. It also makes to so sad that the type of people who would be interested in something like this are people who love animals & dolphins. I felt like they just must not know the truth about it if they were still chosing to do it. I do many things that I'm sure others out there consider unethical so I'm not passing judgement. We all have to make the decisions for ourself, but it should be done with knowing the facts. Which is why I think it's so important to get the truth out there. -
I live in an apartment. Last fall my upstairs neighbor was a guy who yelled at his wife all night. We were sleeping in the living room for a month. I went about 3 weeks with no sleep & was losing my mind. After he moved out (I think he was evicted) a really loud lady moved in. She played music so loud at night that I had ear plugs & a white noise CD but I couldn't drown her out. I left her a friendly note, but it pissed her off so she started stomping every step she took. Eventually she became tired of doing that. Her alarm clock goes off from 5am to 9am every day. I can block out most of her loudness now with a CD of ocean sounds. She doens't play music after 10:30 because we will call the cops now. If you have the chance, listen to the 2nd story in the podcast & you might not feel so terrible about you neighbor. This neighbor is crazy! This American Life
