  1. We were not charged anything (other than 5-10 to get in) at Gran Cenote. But, that was in 2008.
  2. how will you get it there? It's covered in fondant so that would get messed up in a suitcase. It will also take up a lot of space. With airlines charging by the bag, space is precious. What about replacing the cake cutting tradition with something else inspired by the location of your DW?
  3. Yep, it's still my avatar. They let the CD keep running after the ceremony & everyone else was cleared away. We didn't have a reception, but this was our first dance.
  4. Thanks! You can actually order them right through zazzle & type in whatever you want on the back. $400 for such a short time does sound like a lot, but when you figure that many people getting dressed, packing up their instruments & showing up it makes sense. One thing I really wish I had was a mariachi band playing as soon as we headed down the aisle. I saw one wedding where they busted out into a dance right there after the wedding. But, it was really hot on our wedding day & after the toast, people headed somewhere cooler while we took pictures. So maybe it wouldn't have really added much. The sound system was free for us & we had music playing from a cd we gave them. Mike & I walked out on the rocks & danced. A picture from that is on our wall. Maybe it's still my avatar? I think it's weird to have the tent & the bamboo. If your wedding is during a sunny part of the day or during summer, rethink not having the tent. Most of our guests are from south texas & used to the heat, but june in mexico was unreal. It was so sticky. I think everyone would have been miserable without shade. We were only having a quick ceremony, but they have to get out there before you. Then things will always run late, because it's just more laid back in mexico. I was ready early, but my ceremony still started late. So total it was probably about 45min-1hour outside for our guests for a 15 min ceremony. That tent was a lifesaver.

So far, the only thing I have paid for is the photographer. I felt so weird that all they did was take my name. I kept expecting to get there & they'd be like, "Morgan, who?" But, I saw my name in the book and that really was all they were going by. It was a very relaxed system, but they got it done. And yes, this hotel is way cheaper than others. Everything was fabulous. They just don't charge a lot for it. Seriously, my wedding was a bargain & I couldn't get over how much we got for around $400.
  6. I made the Jamaica cards today. All postcards are in my Zazzle shop here -> Retro postcards Mexico and Jamaica
  7. I just realized I didn't have a picture of my postcards in the first post. I started this for my brochures, but these mexico postcards have been by far the most popular thing I've made. Â Â I'm working on ones now for Jamaica & other popular DW locations. Â In Zazzle, you can type onto the back of the postcard to personalize it. I suspect people have been using these at Save the Dates or for OOT bags.
  8. In 08 a day pass was not required for vendors. I just let them know who was coming so they would let them in. They can't eat or drink without a pass. I think there was a cheaper 1/2 day pass option if you wanted a vendor to be able to eat dinner. It depends on whats in their contract and how long they are staying. OH & it might be different with private receptions. Â
  9. They have a salon at the hotel now. It wasn't there when I got married, so I can't really say much about it. Â I guess it depends on what is more important to you. I was happy my guests were comfortable & shaded. It was such a hot day. The tent also shaded us which made for great light for the photos. Â Totally agree.
  10. I finally watched the finale episode. Before, I only skipped to the end to see who won. I loved Ellen doing the dance with twitch & starting off hanging from the door like katie. I teared up though when Alex came out on crutches. I'm still not over losing Alex in the show. I hope he does the next season.
  11. are you guests staying 2 weeks? If we switched, I'd want to go farther south to akumul or tulum. Most of our guests left the day after the wedding. I was happy a few stayed around, because it was fun hanging out with them once I was totally relaxed because the wedding was over.
  12. nooob here. can you post a review on someone who isn't a forum vendor? I tried to review my anniversary picture photographer & I couldn't figure out how to add someone new who wasn't on the list already. Everyone on the list looked like they might be forum vendors.
  13. Back with pictures! I see the images on my first post stopped working. I can't edit to remove them. But, here are our pictures from Oahu ]
  14. That might be the hotel I'm thinking of. One of the hotels in RM has a cenote & they perform weddings there.
  15. I'm finally starting to like adechike. I LOVED the chair dance with him & kent. I kept watching it over & over. Without alex, i'm back to routing for lauren who was my favorite when the contest started.
  16. Photographers will usually have you sign a model release which gives them permission to post your pictures on their website/ blog or use in materials like their business cards or a print ad. They should also give you the option to opt out or state if you don't want your name used. Very rarely do you see full names posted on websites. You might have to pay more for a photographer if they will not be able to use any of your images on their site (or they might be less willing to work with you on prices/ packages). Often you can get a good deal if someone is excited about adding a hawaii wedding to their portfolio, but they would not give you the same deal if they can't use the images. Be sure to tell them up front. I would think the easiest thing is to make sure they know you don't want your images easy to google (no names on them.) And make sure they know you wouldn't want to be tagged on facebook.
  17. congrats! Can't wait to see what you come up with as an oahu specialist.
  18. Oh & before there were any BDW catalonia brides, I was able to find some people on trip advisor. Many of the pictures I posted in this thread were from trip advisor brides.

Who have you been in contact with at the resort?? i have been in contact with Laura....and she's pretty nice and she gets back to me pretty fast considering my wedding is so far away. You two can start a thread for this other catalonia to keep it seperate. If you put the hotel name in the title, it draws more people in to the forum. I was the only Catalonia riviera maya bride on the forum for a long time, but more started finding this place.
