Quote: Originally Posted by michelle08 I looked into hiring a planner in the very beginning before I even found this forum because I had no idea if I would be able to book vendors, etc... The first planner I was going to hire was charging like $1600 and I just couldn't handle paying that because I knew I would only need help with vendors and day of coordination. So then from her i found Maye and she was only going to charge $600 so I was like well in the big scheme of things (budget) what's $600 and this way she can handle all the vendors and day of coordinate because I didn't want to set my own tables and translate my own ceremony nor did I want to ask one of my only 26 guests to do it. She mostly did what I wanted She booked all my vendors and the only one I questioned the price on was the transportation...everything else I was satisfied with what she had and if I wasn't I asked for lower but didn't research any other vendors. The day of coordination was spotty but it was still better then not having anyone at all. So to me that was the benefit of having a wedding coordinator for my vendors and day of coordination. I didn't care about being anal and researching all of that...I just went with what she had and I didn't want to be dealing with that part of it. But with the "wedding" details, that is what I knew I would take charge of and not need her visions or ideas or anything and that I didn't need her at all for except to rent my centerpieces from because although plenty of people brought all their stuff with them I didn't want to hassle. So I got exactly what I paid for and that is what I am saying about each of us have our own vison of what we wan on this day and with that how much we can do ourselves and want to do ourselves and what we can't so we have to be true to ourselves and realistic and then pick a wc accordingly and hopefully they will be honest with you and provide you what they promised. ok that makes sense. I didn't realize she also did centerpieces & set stuff up. Also, without the forum I understand how it would have made getting vendors much easier.

Does anyone have a hair flower for sale?
rodent replied to Kat81's topic in Buy / Sell / Trade Archives
try etsy. I think 4 inches is a good size. mine was more like 5, which was bigger than I wanted, but I liked the flower so i wore it. -
Time to start the post-wedding DIY projects. I plan on making a coffee table book of our wedding pictures (and several other versions to give our families). I plan on including pieces of our ceremony script and lyrics from the songs we used in the ceremony. Most of these songs played after our ceremony when we had a champagne toast. Is this the right way to quote a song lyric? Should the title of the song be in Title Case? This is what I have so far. I might not use it all... Song Lyrics Where you are that’s where I want to be And through your eyes are all the things I want to see In the night you are my dreams You’re everything to me ~ “Love of my life” by Dave Matthews featuring Carlos Santana It's not always rainbows and butterflies It's compromise that moves us along My heart is full and my door's always open You can come anytime you want Tap on my window knock on my door I want to make you feel beautiful ~ “She will be loved” by Maroon 5 How do you do it, make me feel like I do How do you do it, it’s better than I ever knew ~ “Stellar” by Incubus Won't you kiss me On that midnight street Sweep me off my feet Singing ain't this life so sweet ~ “This year’s love” by David Grey Where I go I just don't know I might end up somewhere in Mexico. When I find my piece of mind I'm gonna keep you for the end of time. ~ “Soul to squeeze” by Red Hot Chili Peppers It's a beautiful day Sky falls, you feel like It's a beautiful day Don't let it get away ~ “Beautiful day” by U2 You crush me with the things you do I do for you anything too… Each moment, the more I love you… Lovely lady, I will treat you sweetly Adore you… So much you have given love That I would give you back again and again Meaning I'll hold you And please let me always ~”Crush” by Dave Matthews Band Celebrate we will Because life is short but sweet for certain Were climbing two by two To be sure these days continue. ~ “Two Step” by Dave Matthews Band Pieces of our ceremony script This beautiful setting should remind us that, like the ocean, human life is an ebb and flow- The life of the spirit and emotions- moves in cycles. To be in a relationship does not guarantee an eternal summer. To make a sincere and honest commitment does not promise, an end to all struggle. What a good relationship does offer, much like this ocean, is the opportunity for renewal. It recognizes the abiding, shared hope that after every winter, spring will come again. Marriage has been described as living in love with your best friend. Love is one of the few constants in the universe. It is reality, affinity, and communication. Only love is capable of joining living beings by their deepest essence, uniting, completing, and fulfilling them. Believe and trust that the words you have spoken have the capacity to create the marriage, family and life of your dreams, and that the rings you exchange will have the power to return you to your vows. I give you this ring, as a sign of our marriage, and a lasting reminder, of the vows made between us today. I give you this ring, as a reminder that I will love, honor, and cherish you, in all times, in all places, and in all ways, forever. I'll put the words of the hand ceremony on a page that has a picture of us during this part of the ceremony These are the hands of your best friend, young and strong and vibrant with love, that are holding yours on your wedding day, as he promises to passionately love you and cherish you through the years, for a lifetime of happiness. These are the hands that will work along side yours, as together you build your future, as you laugh and cry, as you share your innermost secrets and dreams. These are the hands that will countless times wipe the tears from your eyes: tears of sorrow and tears of joy. These are the hands that will massage tension from you neck and back in the evenings after you’ve both had a long hard day. These are the hands that will comfort you in illness, and hold you when fear or grief engulfs your heart. And these are the hands that when wrinkled and aged will still be reaching for yours, still giving you the same unspoken tenderness with just a touch. These are the hands of your best friend, smooth, young and carefree, that are holding yours on your wedding day, as she promises to passionately love you and cherish you through the years, for a lifetime of happiness. These are the hands that will hold you in joy, excitement and hope each time she tells you that you are to have another child; that together you have created new life. These are the hands that will hold you tight as you struggle through difficult times. These are the hands that will comfort you when you are sick, or console you when you are grieving. And these are the hands that will give you support as she encourages you to chase down your dreams. Together as a team, everything you wish for can be realized.

i really like them, especially the 3rd one. -
if you have to double check everything, how is having a WC really helping you then? I didn't have a WC so I really don't know what they do for you.

Is your ring Cathedral set?
rodent replied to tvt's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
i looked at it again & it seems like her's isn't as close to the stone. there is a bigger gap for things to get between the stone & setting. my ring sits up really high. I thought it was going to get caught on things all the time or rip my latex gloves. I'm surprised it's never an issue. I just googled cathedral set rings & I do think there is a bigger gap on hers. So ignore what I said. I've never worn a cathedral set, so I'd trust the girls that have them. -

real vs fake flower in hair?
rodent replied to Amy715's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
my friend wore a real flower & it wilted in just a couple of hours in the sun. I went with a fake one. I attached it to a comb & my hairdresser put it on after doing my updo. -
mike saw this & said, "so that's our pet?" i'm sure he thinks I'm so weird.

I had spoken with a WC at the ElCozumeleno in person because we were going to go there, but things changed so I feel like I am a little late doing all of this. Adam and Kelly are so busy they just want to know where and when to be there. They are doing the symbolic ceremony. Did you just leave the date open and let her decide? We don't really care. Was your wedding free? We have a group of 18 staying 7 days. Thanks for your info I picked the date & time & told elena what I wanted. The wedding was $350. Since your group is less than 20, you can have dinner in one of the restaurants for the reception for free. it's not private though. We were fine with not having a private dinner. We picked the mexican restaurant. I have pictures of both the mexican & itallian restaurants on the catalonia thread. I don't have any pictures of the japanese steakhouse yet. my camera died that night so I'm waiting to get pics from my guests. that place probably wouldn't work for a wedding reception though. but, i suggest making a reservation there one of the nights. it was a lot of fun. also, they cooked up the fish our group caught for free. The $350 fee included so much. it was a really great value.

Bride and groom are Kelly Dahl and Adam Owens. setting the date with the WC was the hardest part. are they doing legal or symbolic? if it's not the legal ceremony be sure to emphasize that in the email so elena realizes she doesn't need to wait until she knows the judges schedule. elena is the WC & she is really nice. She does a great job but is also really busy. She always replied to me quick with everything but setting the date. her emails were very brief but I got all the info i needed. i don't know why setting the date is the hardest part. I called the hotel every hour last 4th of july until i finally got to talk to her. then she said, "email me." well, i had already emailed my request 3 times. after the phone call she got me on the books.
