Long Distance Relationships and Moving
Alyssa replied to The Mandy in Chandy's topic in Just venting or funnies
well first of all i am really sorry about your parents my advice is to have your FI move there, you can start your marriage off in a home with little to no mortgage, you already have a job and MOST OF ALL you can be newlyweds without the added pressure of his family (as wonderful as they are) being around all the time. if you both haven't lived in the same city, and obviously under the same roof - you are going to have a huge period of adjustment after making that change. having a couple of years to yourselves will most likely be a GREAT thing for your stability as a couple and help you build a strong foundation by having to lean harder on each other. then after a couple of years (and when things settle down more with your siblings), when the real estate market stabilizes, put the house up for sale and move to where his family lives. when are you planning on having kids? if you plan to wait a couple of years this would be especially great timing for you guys to just save and have fun experiences together before you move to KY. good luck with everything! -
Laser Eye Surgery - anyone's experiences?
Alyssa replied to Alyssa's topic in Beauty, Exercise, Diet
soooo, just a quick question for all you girls that had laser eye surgery. i had mine 2 years ago in July 2007 and have been PERFECT since - 20/20 vision, no side effects, etc. well for the last week my right eye has had this weird 'twitchy' feeling and almost feels like there is something in it? i don't know if this has to do with being pregnant or just some 2 year later side effect but has anyone else experienced this? -

I also had to go to L & D on Friday because I became so swollen (more than usual). My bp and urine came back fine, so that was a relief. I'm so looking forward to having this baby!! I feel huge and it's so hot now (it was 100 degrees this weekend). I hope I don't scare any of you ladies that aren't as far along, but here's a pic that I took about a week ago (please excuse how horrible I look): You look AMAZING - all belly!!!! i want to see some pics of the baby's room

I can see how you would be frustrated and I don't mean to be offensive, but some things are bigger than weddings. Some things are bigger than shopping for dresses. If it is that important to you, then keep your shopping date. Your MIL and FSIL can make the decision if it's really important to them as well. However, I think you should be happy that they like you enough to want to be a part of this experience. Good luck on whatever you decide, but I just wanted to voice that I don't necessarily think your MIL or FSIL are being unreasonable. Im keeping my appts my only thing is my FMIL seems upset about it. Im sorry but I will not continue to keep changing my plans. After talking to my FI he agrees with what I am saying. We both know he wont stick out at home. He will spend a few days here and there but he has a FI to be with and friends. My FI knows how important it is to me to have my mom and FMIL there but when it comes to his brother they bend over backwards. If he was just out of state coming to visit for a couple weeks it would be the same way War or no war we are always placed on the back burner. Im not trying to come off like I dont care he is over seas fighting the fact is I know he wont be home each day!!!!! I care about him and his safety and I will be glad I can see him too! i think you should keep YOUR appointment - i think the problem here is your expectation that they have to be there. wedding dress shopping is fun but it is not life changing, sorry to be crass but magic doesn't happen. it's more life "wow i am so glad that is checked off my list" it's cool for people to share in it and take part but ONLY if they are available and able. and just b/c he doesn't have his whole schedule mapped out doesn't mean she doesn't want to make herself available to him - 2 weeks might sound like a lot but he will have so many people to visit and things to take care of she probably wants to get every moment she can with him - i know i would and i pass on a dress shopping trip for that anyday. -
Hi Mimosa, i went to Paradisus Palma Real as a guest for a DW and we tried all of the restaurants - our favorite was the Tappenyaki place - it was really good

How do I upload files?
Alyssa replied to emme's topic in Bugs, issues or "how to" navigate forum questions.

Susan! how are you honey?? i am pissed you started this thread b/c you are going to make me spend $$$$ ;0

Heather - i have micro-pave on my e-ring and wedding band and both go all the way around. As for sizing - my jeweler made them both custom and put sizing beads inside on the lower shank - if you look at my wedding pics i think you can see pics of this. it is brilliant b/c you can shave the sizing beads down or put them back as needed (of course by a jeweler). as for the look (and this is just my opinion!) but i don't like the look of the halfway - i really like the brilliance of the diamonds from every single angle and never have to worry about that spin thing - i have a lot of friends who half the 1/2 or 3/4 and they always complain about the spin. i am pretty rough on my hands and rings and wear them both everyday - i haven't damaged them yet. i clean them about 1x a week.
