Signature Cocktail?
Alyssa replied to gracefulsteph's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
Thank You! we were just talking about this last weekend - we are definitely going to do it - we are thinking about having a signature alcoholic and non-alcoholic drink at all of our events as well as bottled water. "welcome party, ceremony, reception, farewell breakfast" at least that is where we are at now - i really like the idea of a drink option for the ceremony - especially since it is so HOT -
Hi SlimmerShadier (cute name) Thank you for the info - we were considering some of the villas we saw on both St. John and St. Croix - the one thing we were worried about is having everyone stay at different places and losing that 'let's meet at the bar, gym, spa or beach' thing that is so easy when everyone is at the same place. how did you deal with that? i also heard that the Westin is gross and really out-dated - that is a shame thanks and Congrats - BTW - your photos are really beautiful

Hi Ladies, a friend of mine has this wedding dress to sell! long story short - they are no longer getting married - she asked me to get rid of it for her and left it at my house. It is a J.Crew, size 4, fitted Ivory Gown. 100% Silk, lining is 100% Polyester - style # RN77388. It is not from this year's collection - I think she got it 3 years ago when they 1st got engaged. Never been worn but sitting in my closet for a long time. needs to be cleaned. Perfect for TTD! $50 + shipping Here are some pictures.... Thanks, Alyssa

for all of you weight watching and dieting brides - My Food Diary :: Online Calorie Counter w/ Diet Journal & Exercise Log is another great option - i read about in SELF mag and started using it a couple of months ago - it is $9 per month - NO contract. it is really cool because you find out things about your eating habits that you might not realize! Good Luck!

The First Family Fight...Children at the Wedding
Alyssa replied to Alisarosenbaum's topic in Destination Wedding in Cabo
i hear you - just my opinion - nothing personal. i am grateful that someone would spend their money / vacation days / etc. traveling around the world to even want to come to my wedding. some brides do have a vision and that it that - if the guests aren't ok with it - at the end of the day it is up to them not to accomodate. And for any bride who has a plan in her head for what she wants on her special day.. I think it's unfar to call that sad. I agree the day is about love and sharing with family and friends.. But for us.. the point of a DW was not to make it about community.. but an intimate affair. -

Nini_Bride - i couldn't agree with you more...the day and experience is about love and sharing and community - that is why you are inviting people - to share in your joy and happiness not to be 100% available to you and only focused on you. I feel sad that some brides use the "it's my day" line to mask what is usually totally unacceptable and selfish behavior to impose on 'friends and family' -
Hi - We are getting married in USVI next September - we haven't booked it yet but are close to it (at Carambola Beach Resort). We looked extensively at St. John and love Caneel Bay but it is just too expensive for our guets! did you do a Villa? or a different resort? which one? thanks! alyssa Quote: Originally Posted by slimmershadier Aw, thanks for all the nice thoughts, gals! If anyone has any specific questions about anything St. John-wedding related, I hope they'll feel free to ask. I had a lot of time to plan this thing and I'm harboring a lot of extraneous info.

i went to a DW in Dominican Republic last year - very similar. the ceremony was at 1pm. after we had a champagne toast on the beach, did the hava-na-gela (spelling?) traditional jewish circle dance with bride and groom on chairs (right on the beach - it was really cool!). everyone hung out for probably 1/2 hour then split up. they had their reception at 7pm on the beach. the break in between was really great - a lot of people napped, some went to the spa, others were at the beach together. i was the MOH and have to say - i loved the break in-between, especially since it was SO HOT. i hope this helps!

Natasha - those are AMAZING! did the graphic desinger create actual rubber stamps or are those stamps printed on the inside paper? Do you have any of the templates? Did you have to cut the paper or did you print on 8 1/2 x 11 and just fold it? sorry if you already answered these questions somewhere else a long time ago but i just got quoted $14 PER passport from a designer/printer and really want to make them myself so i can afford to have them!

your welcome - i hope it comes in handy! it's funny though b/c i originally had like 35 categories - it definitely took some playing around to consolidate them.

Congrats! My FI and I went to a destination wedding (he was best man) at Fiesta Americana Grand (Imperial Suite) last summer - it was great!!!! I have some photos of that and the resort if you are interested. Also - just a couple things that we picked up on while we were there: the hotel doesn't tell you but if you use the 'in-room coffee' they charge you $10 per day. you may want to consider putting coffee/tea packets in our OOT bags? get to the pool early and get a spot (especially if you have a big crowd) Overall - we really had a great time and thought that the resort was wonderful, relaxing and a great venue for a DW!

Welcome and congrats! we have done a lot of research on the Carribean, specifically USVI and Puerto Rico so just PM me if you need any help at all!
