pouchie replied to twinkletoes's topic in Jamaica Accommodations & Site
I hope to get married on the beach but it depends on the wheelchair accessiblity. We will decide when we get there. -

I know my guests would like to have hard liquour. I would have preferred to only have the open bar from 9-11 pm, but I believe the $10 pp applies to the entire four hours. Correct me if I'm wrong please! I myself, would personally be satisfied with just the beer and wine! I am pretty sure the $10/ per person applies to all night. I thought the same about the hard booze but we have quite a gap in between our ceremony and reception so I am sure most of our guests will have their fill of hard booze in between. hehehehe. Most of our guests I think will be ok with wine & beer. (I hope!!)

If I cancel the disco (which I already had the DJ hired for), and moved the reception to the Plantation, I think that would solve all my problems. I'm not really sure I would like to pay $10 pp for the open bar though. That is kind of stretching the budget. Approximately $1800 for four hours including DJ, open bar, and rental of Plantation. Does that sound right? I don't have much time to decide! The wedding is in less than three months! You don't have to pay for open bar. We have over 70 people coming to Jamaica for our wedding that would cost us over $700.00 for open bar at an all inclusive so we decided against it. The plantation serves Beer, White Wine and Red Wine so we figured people could drink that while we have dinner.

Our wedding date is February 7 but we Leave for Jamaica January 26.

Thanks:) I would re-send your email she has missed a few of mine.

We have rented the plantation for 4 hours as well. Chandlyn says there is lots of room for dancing there so I thought it would be better then moving to the disco. That way you get to enjoy your reception set up a little longer!!!

Post your centerpieces here
pouchie replied to bethtamar's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
All these centerpieces are georgeous. Are you guys bringing them down with you? I just don't know how to fit everything I need to bring in my suitcases.... -

I am not worried about having a big fancy cake. Just an idea if you want to dress the simple cake up; offers some really beautiful tropical flowers for cake toppers. I think it would really make the cake look nice for pictures and it would keep it cheap!! I will try and find a picture, I saw some on her website.

Does anyone know the ceremony order for ROR?

That's all I can think of right now. Anything else? Thanks! Thats a good question!! I havn't even thought of that part.. -

I included all kinds of information about air travel, transfers, Jamaica in general, things to do in Ocho Rios, and info on our resort. Many of you were interested in seeing a copy of this. I was going to mail hard copies to the girls that asked for them but I'm a procrastinator and a lot of girls asked for them so what I did instead was transferred most of the information into a Microsoft Word document so that I could post it here. There are some pages missing, but they are pages that I got directly from websites and printed out. For example, after the page on air travel I inserted a page from the FAA's website that had a list of all items that are not allowed to be carried on the plane and a page regarding the new restrictions on liquids in carry-ons. After the page about the Riu I printed out the PDF fact sheet and map from their website and included that. And after the page about renova spa and salon I printed out their price list from the website and included that. Other than that the only thing missing is my cover, 3 day itinerary, and wedding day timeline that I made in Print Shop. But all the pertinent information that some of you may want to use yourselves is in this attachment. That way I don't have to get extra books made and mail them (1 they ended up costing more than we thought 2 I leave for Jamaica in a month and I have a ton of stuff to do). Plus this way you can edit them and use them yourselves Let me know if you have any questions. Your booklet is great. So much useful information.

Flowers, Photographer Riu OR

I was also bummed because we were hoping to have a videographer for the ceremony and the disco. You can only book consecutive hours though. So I would have to pay for the ENTIRE day, just to get video for the 3 hours I wanted. I can't belive all the problems that everyone is having with Michael. So you can't hire him for the videography unless you book the whole day -

The day of my wedding I actually witnessed him get into an argument with a photographer that was staying at the resort and was on the guest list. The groom ended up threatening him before he ended up leaving the wedding ceremony. Of course he still showing up at my wedding, but he didn't want 2 threats that day so he secretly told my photographer and videographer that he didn't want to see them at any other weddings at the resort. Chandlyn had no control over this, but I refused to pay him $200 when I personally did not have a contract with him. That is good information. I have an outside photgrapher as well and was wondering how it would turn out. I am worried I don't want him bothering us on our wedding day. I was going to hire him for the videography but I don't want to have to pay him $200.00 for not doing the photgraphy. -

I don't think you have to pay any extras for outside guests. I think the $50.00 includes dinner and drinks unless you decide to go with an upgraded menu then you would pay extra per person on top of the $50.00. Are you paying for your outside guests to come for the day? We might have a couple guests staying at a different resort and I wasn't sure whether we should pay the visiting fees or them?

I asked for a picture and they told me they didn't have a picture of the basic one but they sent me pictures of the ones I could pay for.

What is in the included dinner option. I thought that I saw it on here before, but I can't seem to find it. Thanks!!! I am pretty sure you need to pay additional for every person eating for the upgraded menu even though they paid $50.00 for a day pass. The menu that is included is pretty good for free. I looked at paying extra per person for an upgraded menu and for open bar but I have 65 guests booked so far, We can't afford to pay for upgrades. There is also dancing available in the plantation if you were looking for another option instead of renting the disco.
