  1. Yay! Congrats Nurse Sarah.. I'm sure I'll have alot of DIY questions for you!
  2. We are getting married in Maui on the beach and so far none of my family/friends that say they are going have minded that they would have to stand. I'm sure our ceremony will only be about 10 mins long though..
  3. BTB - Shelley (beachbride) Newlywed - akh
  4. Wow.. thanks, this is great. I'm getting married in Maui so I'll be sure to read this thoroughly
  5. Got my copy yesterday at Costco Have just started reading it woot!
  6. I have 3 tattoos.. a black restricted cat on my left hip, a triquatra triangle on my left foot and a dolphin jumping out of the water on my right ankle. None of them hurt very much in my opinion though.
  7. Haha.. that's funny.. that sounds exactly like something I would say in the same situation
  8. Wow.. sounds like a great birthday.. enjoy your day (and night!)
  9. Haha.. you are so funny.. definitely Martha Stewart of BDW.. those are great! I haven't really decided what I wanted to do yet but I love those placecards.. I know who to come to when I do have a plan.. Quote: Originally Posted by beachbride here are some websites: table numbers/placecards fish soap cake ha! ha! 10. That's a great idea.. it seems like alot of the brides here have starfish themes or accessories.. I wonder if i could find some tropical fish ideas for Maui.. hmmm
  11. I wish I could afford to pay for our bm's and gm's accomodations but we can't.. We have also offered to pay for their dresses etc. My MOH and BM expected to pay for their own flight/accomodations so that hasn't been an issue (in fact they are already saving for the trip). We also picked a low-season time so it can be more affordable for our guests. I bought a book that is all about planning destination weddings and in there is says you aren't required to pay for your wedding parties' travel or accomodations.. so it's hard to know for sure when everyone says something different. If we have any extra money left over after the planning and OOT bags etc I would love to give some of that for the bm's and gm's accomodations but I don't want to promise that and then not follow through... Oh, I should also note that my MOH and BM would be sharing a two bedroom condo with their significant others anyways... so for the four of them it would be fairly cheap... and I think that our BM and GM would share a two bedroom condo too with significant others.. anything to keep the costs down
  12. Wow.. that second doll really looks like her! Haha for awhile there I had a huge beanie baby collection going on.. who knows how much money I spent on those damn things... grrr Now the only thing I buy religiously is books from my favourite authors
  13. Thanks for all the great advice! Greatly appreciated March is the deadline for the deposit on the condo only if they want to be near where we are. Their flights they can research and book as they find the time or wait for a great deal to pop up on expedia or something. Apparently Westjet usually has a seat sale every october sometime but then you are taking a chance..
  14. Wow that dress looks great! And can't beat the price of course
  15. I haven't built a wedding website yet, but I think it's a good idea. Some of my older relatives don't have computers/email so I would have to send out some kind of package to them anyways... Thanks for the good suggestions so far!! 16. Yes, I quite like your brochure idea. Did you make that up yourself or get it professionally done? If it's not too difficult I would totally do this myself to save on some money.. 17. Thanks Shelley.. I guess I should also state the obvious here.. our guests don't HAVE to go through this condo contact. They can completely arrange their own thing but I figure most will want to be around where we will be.. and the condo contact will be providing deals on the condos that are booked..
  18. I see alot of threads about when to send STD's and more formal invitations. For our wedding in Maui, we have a guy who we are going through to rent condos. This is the cheapest way to do it for our guests as there is no inclusive accomodations there. No biggy. He says for our wedding next nov. 2008 he would need to know by march 2008 at the latest for everyone who is coming and to contact him so he can keep us all fairly close together (within 5 mins from each other if not right in the same complex). March is also when a deposit on the condo would be due.. with the remainder being paid in full 2 months before the wedding. So would sending out STD's by end of october seem reasonable then? All the close family/friends that know about the date etc have already indicated that they are saving money (which is good). Also, I have alot of info I would need to send including rates for 1 and 2 bedroom condos on the beach or across the street and car rentals. I'm not sure how I would fit all this info on the Maui postcard I wanted to send as the STD... ? Knowing a bit of the timeline I've outlined here, when would you want to receive all this info? Any suggestions/advice is greatly appreciated!
  19. So far this is what I think we will be doing/paying for: Bridesmaids dresses (my personal expense) OOT bags Wedding reception Possibly a luau on the following night as they are public I'm thinking of arranging maybe 1 or 2 days of group activities if people are into it, but I wouldn't be paying for any of that (at least not as this stage) We really can't afford to do much more than that unfortunately I think most people are just excited to be going to Maui for a week.. heh
  20. Wow I'm such a newb at this whole wedding thing, I didn't know these existed! But I love them and think I want them now for my wedding... gotta love this site
  21. I dunno... I just started looking online first. And figured out what I DIDN'T want... and found styles of what I do want. However I haven't gone to any stores yet to try anything on... maybe once you try on a few you will figure out what works for you and what doesn't.. once you narrow it down a bit it might not be as hard as you think...
