I guess this church does not meet the requirements necessary to be able to perform a ceremony recognized by the Catholic church. Needless to say, I'm scrambling to find a church for our 75 guests. I'm especially bummed because this church looked sooo cute in the pictures -- it had a great outdoor element that I thought would be so fitting with the destination wedding vibe. So with that, does anyone know of any Catholic churches in Cancun? I hate to sound picky, but I'm really looking for something that is bright and airy, and embodies the feel of Mexico/destination wedding as much as possible. I've researched online but haven't had much luck, especially when it comes to finding photos of the churches. Any suggestions would be so appreciated! We'll need to book something asap so that our church in the US can continue processing our paperwork in time for our wedding (can take upwards of 2-3 months...eek) There is a catholic Church at the begining of the hotel zone in Cancun. Is big and "airy" The name is "Iglesia de Cristo Resucitado", the address is Blvd. Kukulcan Km. 3.5 and the phone number +52 (99 849 50 35. Good Luck!

  3. My JW Marriot future Bride just told me about all this negative advertisement that she is hearing in Florida about Cancun and sourranding areas. I think it is just a "potilic issue" and can be "normal" that the USA is trying to keep the money expenses inside their country instead of expending money somewhere else. However my only suggestion will be for everybody to PLEASE USE the transportation for the tourism and AVOID using the locals transportation. If your hotel is on the highway please avoid trying to cross the highways or walk after midnight by yourself in dark streets... there are always bad people everywhere... and if you do not know the country, the language or the people do not try to use the local facilities just for save some dollars!!!

Your wedding coordinator must send it to you 2-3 months after the wedding date. The wedding certificate will have a special seal behind (apostille). Your wc should arrange everything for you, do not worry but do not forget to remind her 2 months after the wedding. Good Luck

My Espanol is a bit rusty, but my understanding is it's about $300 US for just the chapel fee for the Capilla Nuestra Senora del Carmen - not including the priest fee or to have the wedding conducted in English. I'm trying to plan this all without hiring a WC if at all possible, because we are just having a small ceremony and MAY have our parents along and possibly a few other family members. So if anyone could provide info on either of these English-speaking priests, that would be great! Hello! Padre Castañeda is great but Padre James is great too! Good Luck!

It was OK, but definitly not good enough for all my wedding pictures. I am sorry, i do not have anything from her work yet but i know that she is very good as a hairstylist (not make up) from lots of comments i have heard about her work. Actually i have requested her last week to come to my house and do something for me to see her work because of the good comments i have heard about her. If i see her soon i will ask her to send me some photos and will send it to you. Regards, Yazmin.

Hello! January is high seasson... the ocean normally is great but the weather is a little bit more "cold" or "fresh" than the rest of the year, specially during the night. If you want a more formal elegant wedding between those 3 resorts i will suggest to go with the Riu Palace wich is in the Playacar hotel zone in the heart of Playa del Carmen. Otherwise there is Dreams Tulum wich is beautiful but totally different style and an hour from Playa del Carmen. Those 2 hotels are totally different. Think about your guests and where do you want to be? at Playa del Carmen or near Tulum? Because those 2 are totally different and away one from the other. Best Regards, Yazmin.

My fiances parents are two of our witnesses-who will be there the same amount of time as us. And the other 2 are going to be found by our wedding coordinator. I understand the blood tests and fingerprinting, but am I missing something Please let me know. Thanks. If you are single and never married before. Do not worry. You just need, Passports and tourist visa. If you want to bring your birth certificate is okay but not necessary. Best Regards, Yazmin.

Can I get the documents certified now (6 months prior to the wedding, or do I have to wait until closer to the wedding date?). Then we bring one or more copies plus the originals? So we need: birth certificates, passports, tourist cards...is there anything else (i.e., driver's license, or extra piece of ID)? Then in Mexico, all the docs are translated? Can I send these to the wedding coordinator early, to save time? Then we go through the wedding ceremony process and within four days - two months later, we receive copies of the marriage certificate? Do we have to do anything to get the certificate recognized in Canada? I really appreciate your help! Erin. If you never got married before you will just need to bring with you 2 things: - Valid Passports and - Tourist visa (given at the airport at your arrival to Mexico) Once you are in Mexico you will need to do the bloodtest wich is normally around $150 to 200 usd per couple if you do it in a Hotel or less if you go directly to the laboratory. If you were never married and your maiden name appears as it is in your passport you do not need to certified, bring your birth certificate or do any translation! In Canada contact your nearest Mexican Embassy Office and ask for the Authentication Document which serves the same purpose as the Apostille document. We suggest that you bring at least one complete set of copies, plus the originals. The Judge will give you 2 certified copies on the wedding date. If you want more certified copies you can request them through your WC with an extra charge each one, that has to be paid in advance or directly on the wedding date. Two months after the wedding date more less, you will receive the certified copies with your original wedding certificate. Best Regards, Yazmin.

  21. Hi! I have already send to you the photos! Sorry, no external vendors allowed there. The beach normally is nice (but since they are doing all the tours there they have a lot of jet skis and boats) but i guess it can be beautiful decorated in the night... It has been raining a lot on the past days so there was much rain water over the sand (puddles? you will see it on the photos). The Hotel besides (Mi Pueblito) has a Chapel for 100 people more less and the hotel is cute but with almost no beach, and again you are not allowed to bring any external vendors. Regards, Yazmin. 22. Hello everyone!! I have seen a lot of confussion regarding the Legal ceremony here in Mexico and it is not so complicated as it seems to be! You should not be worried about a thing beacuase your WC supposed to do everything for you!! My mother is a Civil officiate in Acapulco and the requirements are the same but she is much flexible than here in the Riviera Maya or Cabo but I think, this is beacause there are no so many weddings lthere like here or in Cabo. Here is some information that could help you to undestand better: The Civil Ceremony is the only marriage in Mexico which modifies the marital status of a person from single to married, whether under the regimen of division of property or joint ownership of property and it is the only one that is internationally accepted, therefore your Marriage Certificate is legally binding in Mexico. A Mexican Civil Marriage generates an original Legal Marriage Certificate and a Certified Copy. The Original eventually goes to Chetumal, capital of the State of Quintana Roo, where it is permanently filed: The Certified Copy –duly stamped and signed in ink by the Judge—goes to the couple. Your WC should send to you in about 2 months after the wedding date, the "original" wedding certificate with the mexican apostille or seal that is normally done in the back of the certificate. The Marriage Certificate is recognized by 65 States that are Members of the Hague Conference on Private International Law like the United States, Canada, France, England, Germany, Spain, Switzerland, Ireland, Belgium, Italy, Denmark, Netherlands, Sweden, Japan and most other countries. One of the requirements is that the couple and their four witnesses be present three working days before the date of the wedding for delivering and signing all of the documents required by the Civil Registry. The Matrimonio Civil is performed by the Registro Civil via their Judges. The wedding is in Spanish and during the Ceremony; a text from Melchor Ocampo, a nineteenth century Mexican poet, is recited, declaring the couple as husband and wife. Sometimes the Civil officiate does not speak english so your WC should provide an English translator who simultaneously interprets the ceremony. All foreign documents (birth certificate, divorce decree, death certificate, etc.) which are to be submitted to Mexican Officials for any legal procedure within the country, must have the legal Spanish translation (to be done in Mexico by the Civil Officiant or Registro Civil) and must be certified by-an APOSTILLE. An apostille is an internationally recognized notary certification, done in the country of origin of the documents, and usually issued by the State Department of each country. In the United States, contact the Secretary of State in the state where you live. In Canada contact your nearest Mexican Embassy Office and ask for the Authentication Document which serves the same purpose as the Apostille document. We suggest that you bring at least one complete set of copies, plus the originals. A Civil Marriage in Mexico constitutes a Legal act that generates public documents of record; if you fail to comply with the requisites the Marriage cannot take place and that is why the Civil officiate request you all to be on site at least 3 full working days prior the wedding day in case some documentation is missing or something is wrong, to have enough time to arrange the problem. It gets just a little bit complicate (because the apostille) when Bride is divorced but if Bride is single that is very, very easy. I hope it helped a little bit! Good Luck! Yazmin.
  23. I Have the photos and tomorrow i will be sending you all the information! Regards, Quote: Originally Posted by nylalany You may be at Marina Maroma? Yes I'd love photos! I'll PM you my email. They are more traditional Mexican seafood and meat and offer less options that work for my group, as I don't want to serve shellfish or pork. So now I am thinking that Marina Maroma is not really an option? But I'm still curious for photos! I see on your site that you do wedding catering...do you have menus and packages you can email me in addition to the Marima Maroma photos, and do you offer semi-private beach ceremony and reception locations near to Azul Beach that have a palapa in case of rain? Thanks!
  24. Hello! I might be going this weekend. If you are interested in some phtos. please let me know! Best Regards, Yazmin.
