Hello NothernGirl, I know a lady who sells all of the attached mexican bags, most of them at a very reasonable prices, but she is Mexico city. She always provides me for all my favor bags, even mexican pashminas and she can provide everything by color for example there is a purple bag and mexican pashmina that was custom made for a wedding we had in at the beginning of March, all in purple and lilac colors (first 2 pics). If you like them you can PM me and I will pass you her email address. Happy planning!

Hello albertalou, There are lots of venues in the mayan riviera, it really depends on the budget you would like to spend you can have private properties such villas or locations starting from 3,500 usd. aprox. small hotels that can become private or semi private such beach clubs were you do not have to pay for a site fee. There are also some all inclusive hotels that can offer very private locations without having to pay a site fee. Beach clubs are affordable and as Ceelou says Blue Venado can be a great option since is one of the less expensive ones. Happy planning!

Dear JanetandDan, Congratulations! My suggestion will be first to define your budget because from that you will be able to know if you can hire a wc and define the location that will suit your needs (beach club, european hotel, small hotel, all inclusive hotel or private villa or location). Once you have the location you will be able to define all the rest such as vendors and details. In the wedding tips section you can find the 7 steps to get your wedding started that might be of help for you to know where to start! http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/a/7-steps-to-get-your-wedding-started Happy planning!

Priests
Yazmin De La Mora replied to melissa2014's topic in Destination Wedding in Riviera Maya, Cancun & surrounding areas
Hello everyone! I have been working with Priest Bernard Quinn for more than 10 years. He actually marry me and he is a bit serious and not really a smiling person but is very sweet and nice. I have worked with Priest Hogan as well and never, never had a problem with them. My first suggestion will be to arrange all your paperwork and have it ready, minimum two months in advance. The local Priests in Playa del Carmen need to have the permission from your Parish and Priest in order to be able to marry you. If they do not get that permission they will give you problems. My second suggestion will be to be on time on the wedding date. You have to consider that every Priest has many many marriage ceremonies during the same day and all of them in different Chapels so they have to run in their cars driving from one place to another and if you are late, it will be a nightmare for them. So you have to be on time if you do not want the mass to be started without your bridal party or to be cut in half because the Priest has to go to hold another wedding somewhere else. Happy planning! -
Hello everyone! I love to work with many different symbolic ceremonies but I believe is important to let you know the difference between them. There are plenty of Cosmic ceremonies and spiritual ceremonies all of them are BEAUTIFUL and very emotive.....BUT please do not get confused. The "traditional" Mayan Ceremony is not a show it is for real and a very ancient ceremony that has to be performed by a Mayan Shaman and there are only a few in the area ( I guess only two). Shamans normally becomes shamans by legacy, inheritance, because their parents and grandparents so it is very important to have it in mind. Here are some videos so you can have a better idea: Happy Planning!

Blood Test?
Yazmin De La Mora replied to Carley's topic in Destination Wedding in Riviera Maya, Cancun & surrounding areas
Hello, The Justice of the Peace normally only speaks spanish and as Carley says a family member a friend or the wc on site can help with the translation during the ceremony. There a different Justice of the peace in the area and all of them are assigned to cover certain areas along the riviera maya, so ask your wc if the Justice of the Peace assigned to your hotel speaks english because sometimes they do and you do not have to worry about that. Note: If the Justice of the peace english is not that good, you might prefer that a family member or a friend do the translation. Best Regards! -
Yes, there are lots of couples that get married in their country and then come to Mexico to have a symbolic ceremony. The Justice of the Peace can perform also a ceremony but with a symbolic certificate. For all the above ceremonies only Bride and Groom complete names are requested. No paperwork at all. Best Regards!

Hi, Once you get your wedding certificate, it will come with an apostille. An apostille is an internationally recognized notary certification, done in the country of origin of the documents, and usually issued by the State Department of each country. In the United States, contact the Secretary of State in the state where you live. In Canada contact your nearest Mexican Embassy Office and ask for the Authentication Document which serves the same purpose as the Apostille document. We suggest that you bring at least one complete set of copies, plus the originals. Hope it helps! Happy planning!

Blood Test?
Yazmin De La Mora replied to Carley's topic in Destination Wedding in Riviera Maya, Cancun & surrounding areas
Hello Carley, Both of the resorts you are mentioning should have doctor on site, not a clinic but at least a room accommodation where they are available for the hotel's guests 24 hours a day. If you decide to go with the wedding package that the hotel offers, the doctor on site or a lab company suggested by your wc on site will come to your room, lobby or the doctor's office to do the lab test. Do not worry, they will show you the new needle before doing the blood test. You can ask them to use gloves so you can feel secure and comfortable. Besides that, the type of hotel were you will be staying are 5 stars so you should not worry at all. Happy planning! -
Hi Scottsteph, It is true that it can be a little more difficult due to the blood test and all the paperwork the Justice of the Peace requires but they have reduce some paper work so now is getting much easier than before. Hope the info below helps. The Civil Ceremony is the only marriage in Mexico which modifies the marital status of a person from single to married, whether under the regimen of division of property or joint ownership of property and it is the only one that is internationally accepted, therefore your Marriage Certificate is legally binding in Mexico. The Marriage Certificate is recognized by 65 States that are Members of the Hague Conference on Private International Law like the United States, Canada, France, England, Germany, Spain, Switzerland, Ireland, Belgium, Italy, Denmark, Netherlands, Sweden, Japan and most other countries. One of the requirements is that the couple and their four witnesses be present three working days before the date of the wedding for delivering and signing all of the documents required by the Civil Registry. The Matrimonio Civil is performed by the Registro Civil via their Judges. The wedding is in Spanish and during the Ceremony; a text from Melchor Ocampo, a nineteenth century Mexican poet, is recited, declaring the couple as husband and wife. Requirements 1. If the Bride & Groom or Witnesses are foreigners, they must submit their Passports and a valid immigration form and/or Tourist visa, provided by Customs upon arrival at the airport. 2. Prenuptial Lab Tests and Medical Certificate, specifically for blood type, H.I.V. and S.T.D. with results in 24 hours. The results are valid for fifteen days. 3. Marriage application (Civil Registry). This is normally ready for you both to sign at our initial consultation meeting upon your arrival in Mexico. 4. If Bride & Groom are Mexicans, Birth Certificates (Certified). 5. Official picture IDs of the Bride & Groom and the four witnesses. (normally drivers license) 6. If one of the contracting parties is under age, the written consent of the parents must be provided as well as a copy of their ID, and they must be present on the day of the wedding as the witnesses and/or a matrimonial dispensation granted by the Secretary of the Municipality. 7. If either the Groom or Bride is a Widow(er), the Certificate of death of the deceased spouse must be submitted.* If the Bride is a Divorcee, a year must go by before remarrying and a copy of the divorce certificate must be submitted.* * Please note: All foreign documents (birth certificate, divorce decree, death certificate, etc.) which are to be submitted to Mexican Officials for any legal procedure within the country, must have the legal Spanish translation (to be done in Mexico) and must be certified by-an APOSTILLE. A Civil Marriage in Mexico constitutes a Legal act that generates public documents of record; if you fail to comply with the requisites as stated above the Marriage cannot take place. For all the above info you might need to ask your on site wc for assistance to fill out the forms and send all the info to the Justice of the peace. We strongly suggest to do the lab test in the area. Happy planning and good luck!
