thak you Amy!!!!! -
Jaime, I think the open bar as you mention is better when your group is small and are not big drinkers like Amy's or mines.... From a bottle (lt) you can get 18 drinks , our WC told us that for a wedding of 120 , we will expend about 12,000 pesos in liquor and the corkage fee of 225 pesos gives about 315 pesos per person for 6 hours...

Marriott vs Mayan Palace places to stay???
edna replied to alrager's topic in Puerto Vallarta Accommodations & Site
Amy, I stayed once in Marriot Casamagna and its a beautiful hotel, with excellent service, its very close to the Mayan and I think with much better to offer than Mayan and others in the Marina. My WC told me the that from the Marina hotels he recommends first the Westin and then the Marriot been followed by the rest of them..... Edna -

You've mentioned that you are going to do the buffet and open bar. Is that correct? We are doing a sit-down and corkage fee. I wonder if the bartenders/ waiters actually serve drinks to the guests at their tables? I've gone to family weddings in Mexico and usually they just leave bottles on each table and the bar is walk up service only. Here are a few ideas I have and I wonder if anyone has the same or if they've asked Marco yet. - I want a signature drink (blue margarita) for the cocktail hour and would like to have some prepared for the guests as they arrive. - I wonder if we have a choice for any dinner listed on the menu. Our package includes a 3-Course dinner but each indiviual dinner has its own price on the menu so I'm not sure if we will be charged extra since its not specified in the contract. -Is there a kids menu? I wonder if we can have a seperate area for the kids and thier own mini buffet?? Okay, I think thats it for now I am back! at least for now! I have TONS of WORKKKKKKk but here are some comments regarding your comments Amy: - the bottle in the tables is not longer used in weddings so, there will be bar , bartender and the waiters will serve the drinks for your guests , in that way you can control the amount of bottles being opened and you can return whatever you didnt use... - regarding the options at dinner , I think you need to aks Marco about it, but I think he will ask you to order the amount of x dish and the amount of y dish , and sirve it in that way... I have been in weddings where the ladies get something and men get a different plate, so that might help, in case somebody wants to switch ..... - and for kids, I am pretty sure you can ask Marco about a Kids Menu... they probably have chicken fingers or burgers for them... -
I hope so, because 350 roundtrip is a very good deal!!! Hope the brides thinking on honeymooning take the opportunity....

We like the idea of being that secluded from everyone. But when we were looking at the Cooper Canyon area, there were some really beautiful haciendas in that area that would probably be a little more populated, but not densely populated with tourists.... (I think, based on what I saw) Yes Barrancas del Cobre is a very beautiful trip the train takes you there , but the views are awesome, its more like a rustic place. Here is the link its on spanish if I find some in english I will post it so you can check it on: Barrancas del Cobre Edna

The Quinta Real is very HM and super romantic , some of the rooms have plunge pools overlooking the sea in a hill, a breathtaking view!! Edna

The Dazzling Details?
edna replied to bethtamar's topic in Destination Weddings in Puerto Vallarta & surrounding areas
It seems that I will use Prisar ( Priscilla and Hector Armenio)Prisar Vallarta - Organizadores de Bodas en Puerto Vallarta , they quoted 20,000 pesos. They are good getting good prices from vendors, fast on responses, very well organized and very creative... - Edna -

Jamy , Huatulco is beautiful , there are two very nice hotels which I would recommend: ones is Las Brisas and the other Quinta Real. By the was Quinta Real offers real good packages for wedding , my cousing got married there and was really beautiful. They make you a package with everything: - legal marriage , judge, setting at beach - Religious marriage , including the setting at church, flowers, music, priest. - Reception: flowers, setting, jazz band for dinner, live band, corkage fee, dinner, 2 extra hours, late dinner for "tornaboda", and some other things... it was for 120 people like 25,000 USD ... something like that... I was thinking was an error on my computer, the same happened to me yesterday when I tried to paste the link on this thread.. hope this can get fixed soon. It's Odd that Carlos do not reply on the contract. He sent me some stuff to my address when I asked him. Did you sent the deposit already to secure the date? Edna

Yes live band are kind of expensive but I love live bands, here are the options I got: - Grupo Strella ( is from Guadalajara) they charge around 55,000 pesos for 5 hours including some of the travel expenses: Grupos Versatiles Guadalajara | STRELLA Organizacion Musical | Grupos Musicales Guadalajara they answer really fast. This is one of the best. - Grupo Enlace: ( from GLD too but with offices at PV) they charge around 35,000 pesos for 5 hours. No travel expenses needed. http://www.enlaceshow.com/ Carlos Mora will be very kind on answering your questions. Tell him I sent you and might get a "discount". I have talked him about the forum so probably he will. - Grupo Farra : I dont have a quote but are like a very popular band from PV... one thing I didnt like is they are might want to sing their own songs because they have done some records as its showned in their page: Grupo Farra... La mejor elección para su evento Regarding DJs I have posted some names and emails in other threads. If you cant find it, PM and I will send those directly to you, but average cost for a local DJ its around 500 USD- 1500 USD per 5 hours ,depending on the DJ. Hope this can help you... Edna
