  1. Thanks ladies! I have 85 invitations to make, so I was hoping to learn from you all Paula, I am def going to try the "Tape n Roller"... and if that doesn't work, I can try Am'ys method of trial and error (hehe)
  2. Thanks so much for sharing that with us and I am so sorry that you had to go through that, especially on your wedding weekend! I have heard a few stories about customs in Mexico, and the all sound a lot like yours. Quite honestly, if they are going to give me a hard time I wish they would do it before they rip open my boxes... I would pay them extra to save me the hassle and time of putting everything back together! Obviously I wish we didnt have to deal with crooked and sleezy customs people, but atleast you got all your stuff into Mexico!
  3. Christa - I know a while back you told me you had some advice about adhesive and scissors... girl, I need your help now! I am finally done buying all the pieces of my invites - paper, envelopes, starfish, etc - and am ready to put them together (woo hoo!). I was wondering if you could share your knowledge of adhesive... that's right, adhesive. I swear, if you told me 1 year ago that I would be writing a post on the internet asking for advice about glue sticks, I would have laughts at you! But seriously, I need your help... what did you ladies use to glue the invites together. If it matters, I am using Paper Source flat cards and woven grass paper.
  4. I think all you girls look amazing in your dresses! Too bad there aren't any pictures of my dress on the web
  5. I saw really nice ones last spring at Brooks Brothers... I just did a quick search and couldn't find it. I bet you have to wait until their spring line comes out
  6. Congratulations Anna!!! Your dress is so beautiful, you must be so relieved to have found "the dress"!
  7. I don't wear MAC so I don't know how expensive it is, but I L-O-V-E this line at Sephora: Bare Escentuals at Sephora ... I use their "bare minerals" loose powder every day. It costs about $25 per container, but it lasts forever
  8. Woah, did you put deposits for all 40-something guests on your credit card? Maybe I misunderstood your post, but that's what it sounded like. Either way, it is never too early to suggest your guests book their trip. Just be sure to explain to them the benefits of booking sooner than later, aka, they will save tons of money!
  9. Gorgeous pictures! Everything looked amazing - the dresses, table settings... and of course, both of you! Congratulations!!!
  10. Sorry I am so late on this, but how beautiful! You look amazing... I can't wait to see more pictures!!!

  12. MY favorite ones are at Lord and Taylor (LordAndTaylor.com - Abas Passport Cover) but they are $28! I know this is completely unhelpful, but I wanted to share

I should have mentioned that we didn't have an engagement party either. After we got engaged people just wanted to send us gifts... and who were we to argue?!?!

Although, in my defense, I am dealing with a particularly crazy breed of FMIL friends - my of her friends actually called her to ask if I didnt like the gift because I signed the card "sincerely" instead of "love" ... kill me!
  15. Our WC at Occidental suggested doing the renewal of vows pacakge to save us money since we are bringing our own Rabbi. We had our legal ceremony in Boston in July, which we called our "Marriage Day" ... we told our immediate family but decided against telling anyone else. We really want our friends to get the "full experience" in Mexico
  16. MY advice is to send out thank you notes as soon as you get the gifts... I had an unfortunate incident with a guest who actually called my FMIL to "confirm" that I liked the gift because I didn't send out a thank you note quickly enough. Obviously that person just sucks, but I think it's best to send them out quickly. As for thank you cards, I just ordered simple ones from Papyrus with "Galit & Steve" on the front.
  17. If they insist on a party, why not suggest a dinner party where all the guests bring is food and a recipe... that way you don't have to get gifts you dont want AND your FMIL doesnt have to spend any money (bc the guests are bringing the food!)
  18. I am sorry you had such a crappy experience! I have only ordered from them once and got everything ok
  19. I have never heard of it. It seems like a really good idea, but I would be worried that no one would know to go there for your gifts
  20. We registered almost right away. As soon as we got engaged, FI said "I want to get a gun and shoot things at Crate and Barrel!"... it was kind of sad when we got there and our "gun" kept malfunctioning (it was like he took it personally)
