FYI: those bags are way cute...I used for another party i did a year or so ago...but they are really small. look at the measurements first. If you want that small then you are fine, but if you want a bag they can put more things in...that won't work too good...

Everyone who is getting help should understand how huge it is to be handed money- it must take some of the stress off. It is a big stress relief to not have to worry about the money side of things. That is my biggest problem with this whole thing. I honestly don't expect to see the $5k his mom says she will give us. It's a nice gesture and I am not complaining...I just don't see where that money is coming from and I don't want myself to be put out financially by this wedding, let alone our family! I have been independent and raised myself since age 16 mostly. My parents had no money and I have always worked 2 or 3 jobs and worked my ass off. I have a hard time accepting money from people. So I know that my mom still doesn' have much money (she has more than when we were growing up) but even her offering to pay for my dress (and it won't cost more than $500) is hard for me to accept. The only thing that makes it easier (and I know this isn't the way to look at it) is that her husband's 3 delinquent children suck money from them as if they were rich!!! It frustrates me because I never ask for money and I know it frustrates my mom because her kids never ask for money! So for my wedding, if there is any extra money she has, I am willing to accept it if she is offering it. Sorry I went on and hijacked a little... -

His mom said she is giving us 5K (she doesn't have a ton of money and has to pay for siblings vacation too) so I am not counting it until I get it. And my mom said she would pay for my dress and maybe try and help in other ways too. They have a friend lending them a timeshare down there so since they will save on lodging, she might kick in a little extra! The rest we are doing on our own. We are trying to save and I am banking on a bonus next march, taxes and we always have kind of 0% offer on credit cards (we play that switch around game) so we should be good. -

It's not the greatest...but it's cheap and it's a way around town...plus there is this limo company down there too that offers the limo ride, food, alcohol all included... I planned my friends bachelrette down there last august...it was pretty fun. -

You are so close to napa you could do a little wine tour (when we went tasting the day after the wedding, there was a bacherlette party at almost every winery). You can set up private tastings, its very cool. Let me know if you need some info on wineries that we went to. Thanks Christine!! That sounds fun...I actually grew up in Amador County which is about an hour in the foothills from Sacramento and they have a bunch of wineries up there and it doesn't cost anything to taste. That is usually where we go. HOwever since I have never tasted in Napa that would be an idea too.... I Love games and I always feel like I"m an old lady or something but I used to have a bunco group but when I moved it ended. we usually try to get the group together once a year but this year we haven't had any luck.... -

I did this for a girlfriends bachelorette weekend in the mountains and everyone loved it. They all bought the wines that they liked for themselves and then the bacelorette picked her favorites and everyone bought her at least one bottle too -- to start stocking her wine rack. Tami, that souds very interesting...I have never heard of it before. So you are a consultant...pretty cool. I will definately check that out for my area. Thanks! -
Is anyone buying their BM dresses??
michelle08 replied to cessyboston's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
I am only having my sister and I let her pick out her dress on her own and it was $60 at macy's. I did offer to pay for it because it was just hers nd I knew she would find a cheaper one. I don't really have the extra money but I felt like it was a nice gesture to do it. She wouldn't let me though. She is my older sister and is better off financially than me so she said thanks but no thanks! I think it's nice you want to do that for them. If it's not in your budget, maybe you can afford like $50 each and tell them all you will but that towards it and you wish you could do the whole thing but you can't. They will appreciate that. Or try and find a cheaper dress or a more casual dress they can wear again so it's not so much of an expense...?? -

That sounds nice too...when my friend got married a couple years ago we went up to Tahoe (it's only about 1 1/2 hrs from Sac) and we rented a cabin for the weekend and some girls came for one night and come for both but we did the lake during the day one day and went out at night and had a stripper come to the house. I don't really want a stripper. She didn't either but felt like she wanted a "traditional" bachelorette party so we did it for her. I would like to do something like this too but I don't know if the laying out at the lake in early May will be warm enough.... So many ideas that are great!!! -

okay gals. I have some time on this, but I'm curious as to what you have or will be doing for your bachelorette party?? All of my friends are married and/or have kids so none of them are much into partying hard, going to bars/clubs, etc... Plus, I'm not really into this so much. I mean I like to go out and drink on occasion but I don't frequent this scene. So I am thinking of a more laid back bachelorete party. I really just want all my friends together and I would like us all to spend the night together and don't really care what we do but I thought I would get some ideas on what else is out there besides going out to clubs??
