I agree with everyone else!! If you were okay with it before her comment then go with your gut...also, pictures of things look totally different online..are you able to take her to the store w/you and try it on for her...she may have a different reaction?? -
Chair Ties on White Wooden Chairs?
michelle08 replied to michelle08's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
Well they only have the white linens...but Maye says she can get the linens or the runners and I just emailed the both about the chair ties yesterday... so we will see... I don't know about the napkins...i didn't ask that? -

jen here is a picture that seems like what you are talking about. Although I love the look...I think it's a little more formal than what I am going for...that is whay I wanted the white table clothes. Plus, again...all these linens add up. As it is, I didn't want to get the chair ties because on ebay they are $2 each and that's like $80 bucks. I don't know if I can rent them from the wedding coordinator for cheaper...I have an email in. I am imagining not. -

You have a pretty small group, but did you look into Heavenly? You can take the gondolas up to the observation deck and you can get married way up there and you can overlook all of lake tahoe including the lake! you can then have your reception there too or still have the reception at the cabin. Also, Regan Beach or Zeypher Cove... -

Chair Ties on White Wooden Chairs?

So you don't think the light pink would look good? I was thinking if I did this I would do pink ribbons and a white table cloth with a brown table runner? Is this weird?? -

Okay Jen...although that's a good idea...you are talking to the biggest tightwad on the face of this earth!!! I am having them move the ceremony chairs to the dinner tables afterward because I don't want to pay for 80 chairs...only 40!!! I know that might be tacky but I don't care!!! -

For example, I just shipped some pashminas to my WC who was in Austin, and she is going to divide them up between her luggage so they don't see 50 pashminas, instead they see a few mixed in with her clothes etc. All customs is looking for are items for resale...so if it has your logo or something wedding-related on it, you're fine, but for example, with my travel pepto & tylenol, etc I'm going to divide it all up among bags. It's a pain, but I don't want to worry about it when we land! I do have an active mind...I need quit thinking of worse case scenarios...okay so if I go with the oot bags then I will just divide the stuff up...Knowing me, I will have stuff in such random places I will forget about it! one time I went on a cruise and at the airport I took out my brush and my make up to "pretty up" and then put it back. Well then we got on the boat and I was trying to look for my make-up and brush and I couldn't find them anywhere!!! I swear I tore up everyones luggage!!! I went all week w/ out my makeup. I shared my mom's and i didn't like it! Well guess what...when I got home I found the brush and make-up in the little pocket on the back of the suitcase! Then I remembered that I put it in there because it was such a cute little spot for it!!!! I am an airhead!!!!

Oh, and we have a favor for them for the dinner after the wedding, a little flip-flop picture frame that will be their place card holder. That's it. That sounds like a good idea too...I'm so concerned now about bringing stuff into mexico and people likeing it etc...decisions, decisions...

Alternating Place settings?
michelle08 replied to michelle08's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
Good...I tend to have weird ideas sometimes...and I am totally a visual person so good to know it doesn't sound that off the wall! -
Okay so I of course I like all these ideas and want them all but don't want to busy up my tables. I thought about having a single daisy stuck inside each napkin for the place setting. I also want to have the starfish with the tag on it at each place setting to show where people will sit. I know i can use both. I was wondering if it would look wierd if for the girls I put the daisy in the napkin with a tag saying their name and for the guys put the starfish in the napkin w/ the tag saying their name? This way it will alternate every other plate....

That looks really good! Since I live in Sacramento I originally wanted to have our wedding in Tahoe before FH chose Mexico! We were going to do the same thing. I wanted our wedding a little more casual and so I thought renting a cabin on the lake would be awesome... I am still probably going to do my bachelorette slumber party up there and rent a cabin too...thanks for that site I am goign to look through it... -
Should I send invitations to.....
michelle08 replied to royfa's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
I sent save the dates even to those people who had already told me they couldn't come. I am also going to send formal invites to all the same people who got save the dates! Mostly because I am not spending much money on the invites at all! I am going to buy those ones from oriental trading I think that are blank and I can print my own stuff on them. I think it's like $20 for 50 or something cheap like that and I only am inviting like 50 people. If I had alot of invites to send and I was actually spending money on nice ones, I may think differently? There are some distant family members who aren't getting invites at all and will get an announcement after we are married. It's hard, but I agree that some people would like to have it to keep or feel special about being invited. Afterall, it's not always because they didn't want to come..sometimes it's just because they really can't!!! However...looking back my really good friend ( I was supposed to be in her wedding in Hawaii last year but I was in a bad financial position and couldn't go) didn't send me an invite...only a save the date? -
Import Fees?

Then you will each kind of stand toghether with luggage but have him hand his form to the customs agent and he will press button. If he gets green have him grab ALL of the luggage but maybe leave one with your clothes. You will act as if this is your luggage and go through the same procedure. Most of the international airports are a mess each time a flight arrives and you can do this pretty easy. Just go over the system with your family or FH. That doesn't sound too bad. FH and I will fly out solo so we will have to get our plan in place...I will have to make sure this is one of the conversations he actually listens too!!! We get to the inspection table and there are like 3 people working. So 2 of them start on our bags. The girl who was inspecting the duffle bag was on her cell phone and kind of halfway paying attention anyway. She did pick up things like the neck safes, playing cards, dominoes, etc. and look at them a second. The inspector next to her looked at it too, then asked me if I was getting married. I said yes and they zipped our stuff up and let us go. That was it, no hassle. Maybe we were lucky? Someone once mentioned being in Cabo I think and being asked for receipts to verify the value of the items. I don't know how common that is, or if Cabo is more stringent than PV, but we had no problems whatsoever. Leaving PV they inspect your luggage again, and I had some leftover trinkets that the lady inspecting thought were cute. She called another lady over to look at them and I asked her in Spanish if they had kids and wanted them. They did so we gave them 2 bags of stuff and lightened our load at the same time ) Yeah I guess it's just luck of the draw...I think it's great you both benefitted at the end!!! -

Import Fees?
michelle08 replied to starchild's topic in Destination Weddings in Puerto Vallarta & surrounding areas
This thread is giving me mixed feelings!!! I am glad it was posted because it's great information...but I don't know if I want to go through all this trouble?? I would think that the best way to not get questioned too much if you get a red light would be to have things spread around... So is it really possible to give the bags to FI if he is first and gets a green light? Or do they really catch on to that? another reason not to do oot bags and maybe buy gifts down there?? Hmmm -
