My legal ceremony is next week! You have to have 1 witness present when applying for the marriage license and 2 witnesses present at your legal ceremony in NJ. To make things simple, we had my mom be the witness at the application signing. She's cool about not being at the civil ceremony because, like us, she doesnt consider it "The Wedding" . She was married in court as well so she knows the drill lol. The white dress and suits are where its at For the civil ceremony, we will have my brother and FI's sister be our witnesses.

So I'm at work and it doesn’t seem to be here… I definitely have to relax and think about where I left it last. I feel like I wore it on Monday or Tuesday of last week, but I can’t really remember. With it not being in its typical places, everything adds up to me possibly leaving it at a restaurant on Saturday the 5th I really don’t feel like it’s gone, just horribly misplaced; I don’t know if that means my gut is trying to tell me that it really isn’t in someone else hands or in the trash. Anyway, I guess I’ll stop looking for it and hopefully have it pop up when I least expect it. My parents and FI keep telling me not to stress out so much because it’s just a ring and I have bigger things to focus on right now: Civil Ceremony is next Monday and DW in 2.5 weeks! I know it’s just a ring and I have bigger things on my plate, but it was MINE and meant so much to me. Plus if I can’t help but feel bummed out about losing it, then focusing on anything else is going to make my tasks much more of a PITA! Adding on to the list of last minute stressful issues going on with my DW, I now think I have lost my E-ring!! We have searched our apartment high and low x3 and it is NOT here!!! My mom has looked in her apartment and we have checked the cars. All that is left to search is my office tomorrow which I am praying it will be in. Its 100% my fault too!!! I started developing these nasty habits with it the last few months because of its size. It’s a pretty expensive piece and very top heavy. Put it this way, I've resized it 3 times and it still didn’t fit properly. It went from a size 7 (as purchased) down to a 5 which was as small as it was physically able to be made. Then 2 "balls" were soldered to it to size it down once more to a 4.5, which was still slightly big. Now with the recent weight loss, it was NOT fitting my ring finger anymore and I started to wear it on my middle finger. Because of the discomfort in looseness, I was unconsciously switching it on my fingers, putting it down when typing, or taking it off when eating...it was just starting to get into "slip off" size too To make matters worse, I cannot remember my exact footsteps from the last few days… I’ve been on a deadline rollercoaster with work, my BP, and so on!! FI is trying to be as supportive as possible, but you can totally see this look of disappointment being masked. He feels so very bad for me, but of course it’s natural for him to be just as upset with my irresponsibility Ughhh I just want to crawl in a hole and never come out right now

Buy a 2nd dress???
plumsugar replied to Golden's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
I'm a 2 dress bride... Ok, Ok... 3!! :X But the 3rd ended up being THE ONE!!! The first cost sooo much money. When it came in, it looked nothing like when I had tried it on 7 months earlier. I blame trying on the sample which was 3 sizes too big and them pinning it to me to create a shape similar to what it would look like in my size. The outcome in my size bummed me out very much, both emotionally and financially! The second was the "backup" (my rebound lol) to the first after I freaked out. Very pretty and super cheap even after alterations. However, I still didn’t get the "feeling" (and at this point I wondered if the “feeling” even existed or if I was just being a douche). Many girls on BDW were partial to the first too. I'm keeping it, but dying it another color, because it would be fab for a formal party The third no one has seen (not even mom!) and I am IN LOVE. I feel so beautiful in it and can’t stop smiling when I think of it!! So basically, the doubtful feeling will not go away if you are not 100% happy. If your budget allows, I am all for getting something you will absolutely love! Just make sure the second is THE ONE...or else you'll be like me! -

Update... After the long "arse-kissing" letter I sent to the passport agency, SIL got her passport two days later! I am soooooo relieved!! My cousin got her court date changed to the week after she returns from Cabo! Woohoo!!! One couple has definitely cancelled (the high risk pregnancy one). Totally understandable, but I'm still bummed out about it I decided to say "screw it" and am only going to arrange transportation for the one flight with the most guests. I'm not complicating my life anymore! As far as the RSVP's...I think we have all been there at one time or another Chibi! I definitely know I was one of those people to wait until the last minute. It has officially bitten me in the booty lol. BUT, lesson learned and I will never again put anyone planning a big event through that! In any case, things are back on track! Thank you for being supportive everybody!! I don’t know how I would have made it through the week without your words of wisdom!

I am in no way blaming these people for anything going on in their lives right now. It just stinks to know things aren’t going as smooth as they should have been My SIL's passport shouuullldddd pass with no problems, but every document she owned had some issue to it: Her mom laminated her Social Security Card before she ever signed it (lol) Passport Agency still has her birth certificate and she can’t get a DMV ID without it. That's her only 4 point item since she just turned 18 and has no bills/bank cards Her high school year book photograph didn’t have the name of her high school or date of graduation on any of the pages. The entire book only listed it once - ON THE COVER WTF!! Yeah...things like that. She's going to get a copy of her birth certificate today and attempt to get a DMV ID with her social security card, college ID & transcript, then send that in to Philadelphia as a follow up. But its just a stressful thing waiting for a yes or no! I truly feel for my cousin and her situation. She was so afraid to tell me when she called. I told her not to overly freak out about my reaction because my wedding comes second to her girls! She's going to try to postpone/push up the date and I absolutely won't mind if she can’t make it for something this important. But it still hurts like hell that a decision like this may have to be made to begin with. AND she's the only person on my side of the family who was going besides mom/dad/bro. As far as everyone else and the RSVP's... I wouldn’t wish this guest irresponsibility on anyone!

Lately, anything I hear is bad news related to our DW! I just don’t get it! My SIL received a letter from the passport agency stating that she didn’t have enough identification. She just turned 18 so the rules are a little vague on what can be submitted if you don’t have any formal ID's. We took most of Sunday morning getting as much information together and overnight expressed the package yesterday, but there is no guarantee she will get a passport on time or even approved! She is one of my two bridesmaids… My cousin finally received a court date for her divorce/custody battle which her husband has been delaying for over 6 months. The date they gave her is the day she is supposed to leave for Cabo. She’s going to attempt to get a new date, but if they only have something 3 or 4 weeks later, she won’t make it to the wedding. The second of my two bridesmaids… The 2 most responsible couples that were reserved and ready to go may not even make it now. One recently got pregnant (high risk) and the other has just hit some financial problems… We are arranging transportation from the airport to the resort for our guests and I have ASKED NUMEROUS TIMES for their flight itinerary to Cabo. I still haven’t received it from some and one couple even replied “YOU TOLD US!†when I sent them a second email! Two weeks have passed since then and I have yet to receive it from that couple…How much harder can I try?? My RSVP date was yesterday and I received ZERO in the mail! Granted I get a rooming list from the resort every month and know who is going officially, but how rude is it that I didn’t receive any when everything was self addressed & stamped?! I really don’t feel like calling guests to inquire, but what if someone is coming and staying elsewhere? Blah… This is just so frustrating!!!

HELP!!! FI can't dance!!!
plumsugar replied to PrecisePlans's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
FI doesnt have rhythm when it comes to formal "partner" dances either. He is a mess when it comes to Salsa, Merenge, or Bachata. I always end up sad for my feet (and music loving heart)! In any case, we're not going to make our first dance a big production by going to lessons. I think the more you do that, the more fudged the end result comes out because of your nerves, excitement, or if one person hates to dance/cant dance to begin with! We have just decided to choose a song that's extra special to us and wing it; be ourselves instead of counting steps... We're not masters, but we dont really suck when dancing romantical songs either Side note: I do want to do the practicing thing with candles & wine thing though! Great idea ladies! It would help with pulling off a spanish song at our wedding without walking away in a cast lol! -

Post Groom and GM attire

Update: To be a little more casual during the reception, the boys decided to purchase white Cubavera shirts from Macys (about $40.00)! Here's a picture of a similar version: They are so awesome in person! Also, here are their shoes (59.00 at Zappos; got them for 40.00 at Underground Station!): -
Do you ever feel like it's just not worth it?
plumsugar replied to lyrebard's topic in Just venting or funnies
My biggest gripe with the whole DW: The guests!! Not the decorations, or the vendors, or the financials! Those that say they are still planning on going with no guarantee from them; no RSVP, no room reservation. With 7 weeks away…I sincerely doubt they are still planning on going. I mean, can you honestly not know if you’re going to Mexico 7 weeks from now? Those that say, "If it was local, I would have gone!†I can understand that from a financial point of view, but it gets under my skin either way! Every time I hear it, my brain automatically translates, “well if it was free food & booze 30 minutes away, I would have gone!†Those that embellish about the amazing time they are going to have, how emotional they will feel seeing us unite, what color dress/suit they want to wear…but end up being the first to check no on the RSVP. We have gone from 145 invited (ALL of them close family & friends…we’re pretty tight yo lol) to 30 currently RSVP’ed. I have to remind myself that I we are fortunate enough to have 30 going then I get super happy again -

Beach Reception - Dancefloor?

Maybe i'll hire someone to wipe down the dancefloor between songs like an empire does a base lol -
So I'm planning to have my reception on the beach... FI & I keep debating whether to rent a dancefloor to make dancing a bit easier. Granted, I've advised everyone to wear flip-flops or go barefoot...and even though it may be hysterical to see guests drunk with sand all over them by the end of the night lol, once us latinos start doing our super speedy dances, things may get tricky. So, to rent a dancefloor or not. That is the question. Be advised that renting one in Cabo runs from $600.00-$2,000.00 depending on size; ouch. I was hoping to spend $500.00 if I did rent one, but my coordinator is telling me $800.00 for the size I need, which is doable, but still more than I wanted to spend.

tis true, tis true...! ((that's the second time you gave me a moral to my story lol))

FI has been growing out his thick wavy hair for a few weeks now to try to get a different look going. Now that it's a few inches long, he's freaking out over how to style it. So he asked me about seeing a stylist for a consultation. I agreed and recommended that he visit my most favorite hair salon. They specialize in thermal reconditioning i.e. hair straightening (which I get done every 4 months), but are experts in working with natural and artificial curly/wavy/straight hair; I should know…I’ve been through all of those phases with them lol. He said ok, but it would be a few days before he could go into NYC, so he'll see someone local first. Fine. He then makes an appointment with his cousin's stylist. I get a call 5 minutes ago with him yelling, "The first thing she said was that my hair was very healthy....so I should think about RELAXING IT" LMAO! I'm sure that's not so out of the ordinary when a guy requests his hair to go from curly to straight, but isn’t a consultation more of a how to work with your own natural hair? I can’t believe that's all she recommended to him! And you figure she's be a little more in tune with the basic wham-bam glob the gel on guy needs considering she works with his cousin's hair…then again, his cousin is gay so maybe she’s not lol! Needless to say, he's now booked with my guy…..and the ironic thing is, he specializes in relaxing hair, but probably would never mention that to him!
