So I just had my first fitting on Saturday. The salon called be back today; I guess I was supposed to sign something before I left authorizing them to make the alterations. They quoted me $550 for just the first set of alterations(there are a few other things they want to do at the second fitting). If I have the salon do everything, I am guessing I will end up paying around $700 Does that sound right? I use an awesome tailor for pants and everyday dresses, and I know she does wedding dresses, too. I am debating on taking the dress to her to get a second quote. What do you think?

Hi Cara, Here are a few pictures of the wedding gazebo setup at Secrets. I have more pictures from the wedding planner there, but they are too large to post. I can email them to you if you want. Secrets Gazebo.ppt

Need first dance suggestions
David and Laura replied to ~Melissa~'s topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
You may have already made your decision, but are you familiar with "Everything" by Lifehouse? It's so good! It is a bit long, but you only have your "first dance" once so why not make it last? YouTube - Everything by Lifehouse Find Me Here Speak To Me I want to feel you I need to hear you You are the light That's leading me To the place where I find peace again. You are the strength, that keeps me walking. You are the hope, that keeps me trusting. You are the light to my soul. You are my purpose...you're everything. How can I stand here with you and not be moved by you? Would you tell me how could it be any better than this? You calm the storms, and you give me rest. You hold me in your hands, you won't let me fall. You steal my heart, and you take my breath away. Would you take me in? Take me deeper now? How can I stand here with you and not be moved by you? Would you tell me how could it be any better than this? And how can I stand here with you and not be moved by you? Would you tell me how could it be any better than this? Cause you're all I want, You're all I need You're everything, everything You're all I want your all I need You're everything, everything. You're all I want you're all I need. You're everything, everything You're all I want you're all I need, you're everything, everything. And How can I stand here with you and not be moved by you? I have that dress. I love it! I wore it to a wedding in Miami that I attended with my fiance, his roommate, and his roommate's girlfriend. His roomate's girlfriend showed up in the exact same dress, haha. The color is difficult to match. Gold kind of clashes b/c it's not a true gold (it's a champagne gold) and silver clashes b/c the dress does have a hint of gold in it. I went with simple black heels and a black clutch, but I don't know if that's the sort of look you are going for at the beach. These shoes are by BCBG so they are probably a close color match BCBG Max Azria Ilinka (Champagne Satin) - BCBG Max Azria Women's Footwear. These are super cute, and pretty close color wise Charles by Charles David Rose (Champagne Satin) - Sandals. Both shoes come in black, too. If you are going with the champagne shoes, I would maybe do a fun color clutch, like one of these; there are lots of colors to choose from:Brontibay Paris Liseron Clutch - shopbop.com. If you go with black shoes, I would do a simple black clutch. Hope that helps .

My fiance just sent me this update on Dreams Tulum, post Dean. The info is courtesy of Locogringo.com "Dreams Tulum weathered the storm very well indeed however there is a lot of sand and debris. It will take a few days to clean it up and get it ready so we have decided to keep the resort closed until Saturday, August 25th to do a complete and thorough deep cleaning of the entire resort. Those guests that were evacuated to Dreams Cancun will remain there until Saturday or their departure should they be scheduled to leave prior to then. The guests’ luggage, which was left at the resort last night, will be brought to them this afternoon at approximately 4:00pm so they do not have to go back and forth. All confirmed guests scheduled to arrive at Dreams Tulum between today and Saturday will be accommodated with full services at Dreams Cancun. They will then be transferred to Dreams Tulum on Saturday to enjoy the remainder of their holidays."

Post your wedding shoes

Post your wedding shoes
David and Laura replied to latoy_04's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
Here are my shoes. I really wanted a regular heel (vs. wedge) b/c there's so much more to chose from, but I am afraid they will sink into the sand. Barefoot is not an option for me; there is almost a foot height difference between my fiance and I (5'2" and 6'1"). -
Welcome, Tracy! I am getting married at Dreams on October 26th, 2007 (as long as hurricane Dean doesn't wipe out the resort; scary! . The chapel is very small. It only holds about 18 people. Have you contacted Sandra yet (wedding coordinator)? There are lots of pictures on the site. Just click the search button at the top of the page and type "Dreams Tulum" in the search box.

Hi girls, I am looking for beachy, but classy earrings for the wedding (if that makes any sense). I came across this site (which is awesome, by the way) but I can't decide if these earrings are too cheesy. I want my earrings to be my "something blue" so I would probably go with either the topaz or turquoise accent, and the sand dollar top. Let me know what you think. Gold Resort Earrings - Bangles, Bamboo Bangles, Grosgrain Bangles and Resort Couture from Elizabeth Brady Thanks!

I am getting married at Dreams on October 26th (a Friday, like you), and I know that we are the only wedding on that day. You may be the only wedding, since you're getting married on a Friday as well; I'd check with Sandra. Even if there is another wedding, I don't think Sandra schedules any weddings at the same time because she is in charge of setting them up. I would definetly talk to her about specific ceremony time, if you haven't already.

My fiance and I were planning on getting married in Zihautanejo. We visited in March of this year. We met with the wedding planner at Las Brisas del Mar in Zihua and Las Brisas Resort Ixtapa (they are not at all affiliated). Both place had their pros and cons. I loved the intimacy of Las Brisas del Mar, but there wasn't a good spot for the actual ceremony if you are going to have over 25 people. The reception site at the hotel (their restaurant) was awesome. Las Brisas resort is much larger. The rooms were incredible, and there were a lot of great options for the ceremony and the reception. The building itself was a bit dated. We went to dinner at a place called Tentaciones; it's a restaurant and boutique hotel. Ixtapa Zihuatanejo Vacation Rentals - Tentaciones Hotel & Lounge Pool - Zihuatanejo, Guerrero, Mexico The place is small, but it's incredible. We got to know the owner and were planning on having the wedding there. We would've been the first wedding. When we got home the plane tickets had mysteriously tripled in price. We tried to wait it out b/c we loved Zihua, but the prices didn't budge, and we didn't want to ask our guests to spend $600 to $900 for a ticket. There's only one airline carrier that flies there from the East Coast so there isn't much flexibility. Ok, time to cut this short; it's getting long . Zihua is great, but it's not easy to get to. The cost of a wedding there is expensive (one place charged $17 per hour per person for alcohol). If you have any questions or want pictures, let me know. -Laura

Why did you choose your date?
David and Laura replied to twinkletoes's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
We picked our date because we wanted a short engagement and there wasn't much else available at the resort we wanted. -
I am getting married at 5:00 in Tulum, Mexico on October 26th. After reading all these posts, I am kind of wishing I would've chosen 4:30. It's hard to find the right combination of good lighting, not too many people on the beach, and late enough for the ceremony to blend into the cocktail hour and dinner.

Hi Vi. We are trying to get things worked out with Sandra, but she's not easy to track down. Browsing this forum has made me feel a lot better, though; lots of great feeback and pictures. I am trying not to let myself stress over the details too much and keep an open mind. How about you??

Thanks so much, Lisa!

Thanks so much for your replies! You girls are fast! Lisa, I actually do have a couple questions, if you don't mind . How do the DJ/Announcements work? I am so used to the traditional US weddings where the DJ functions as the "host" (introductions, etc.). Did the DJ speak English or did you have someone from the wedding party make all the announcements? Also, did you bring all of your own music, and if so, did you bring an Ipod or CDs? Thanks!!! Laura
