My *long* Dreams Tulum Review...finally

So basically I am taking every advice that you gave and writing it down to make sure I do those things. I noticed that you loved your photographer...where did you find him and was it extremely pricey getting him there and paying for the services (if you don't mind me asking). I am excited to hear back from you and have someone to get advice from. Thanks! Shannon Hi Shannon, Congrats on getting your date picked out. Planning a wedding is so much fun, enjoy the process b/c it is over before you know it. I hope my review didn't scare you too much. Our wedding experience was amazing. I just wanted to point out things that I wish had been different. You lose an element of control with a destination wedding, which can be good and bad. Don't stress over all the details, but have a list of the things that are the most important to you and make sure the wedding planner (not sure if it's still Sandra or if Landy has taken over) understands them. I actually found my photographer on Craigslist. He is a regular on the forum now. His prices were reasonable in my opinion; it really depends on what your budget allows. If you have any specific questions, feel free to send me a private message. -

Thanks and you really look stunning! Thank you. I believe the platinum is the steak and shrimp, which is what we had. Lobster was an extra $20 or $25 per person, from what I remember. We didn't think it was worth it so we stuck with the shrimp and it was awesome. Everyone loved it. -

Good to know about the cocktail hour, I am going to ask Landy if she can set up some sort of actual bar area so guests can walk up and order drinks. It seems like a lot of people did not do an actual reception at the wedding is this so? I have about 30-40 guests coming to ours so is it a large enough crowd for a dancing reception?3. Laura, your pictures are beautiful! Are you getting to Dreams a few days before the ceremony? I recommend going to the two spots (one by Seaside Grill and the other by El Patio) around the time of your ceremony and seeing which is better. If I had it to do over again, I would've chosed the area by Seaside Grill, it's more private. It's on the opposite side of the beach so I would guess the sun would be a little better there, too. Let me know if you have anymore questions. Good luck with everything! -

We worked it out with him ahead of time. I highly recommend doing Trash the Dress pictures. Of all the pictures we have, most of our favorites are from that session. I also of course, highly recommend Jean-Marcus. He is awesome to work with and his work is amazing.

Best - eyes & butt Worst - My oily skin and my big rib cage. I am thin, but proportionally, my waist isn't defined and my rib cage is like too big for my body, so weird -
Strip Club for Bachelor Party?
David and Laura replied to TammyWright's topic in Just venting or funnies
I said not sure. If I was forced to choose, a strip club is way better than a stripper that comes to the house/hotel room. I have heard many stories about what goes on, and it is not something I would be ok with. I totally trust David, but I definitely don't like the idea of strip clubs. Why? -- Who likes the idea of their boyfriend/fiance/husband watching naked women dance around, let alone getting a lap dance from one. It wouldn't be ok if it was at your home and he was by himself (unless you are into that kind of thing, haha) so why is it ok when he's at a bar with his friends? The whole "he's coming home to me thing" is great, but I think if given the choice most (although not all) women would prefer that their husband not go to strip clubs if they weren't worried about coming off as controlling or insecure if they didn't allow it. Luckily David isn't into strip clubs so that makes things easy. -

Did you wear normal clothes to go in because you knew it was a problem, or just out of pure luck? You are right that there is no sign prohibiting professional photos or wedding pictures. I was so disappointed, and am even more so now that I remember you were successful at taking pictures there (I had seen these pics before, but had forgotten) Oh no! So sorry to hear that. I wore normal clothes in b/c I heard it could be a problem; I didn't know for sure. I was a little nervious, but no one said anything once we were inside.

The dresses are from the After Six line by Dessy. We bought them at a local bridal shop; I think they were around $180. Here the link to the Dessy's website. After Six Bridesmaid Style 6275: The Dessy Group The color was celestial blue with an ivory sash. I went with the new georgette fabric, it was light and flowy, just what I wanted. I was married at Dreams, Tulum and the drive is not that bad. Be sure you get a private transfer and it's fine. If you get a shared transfer, you have to stop at other resorts along the way to drop people off. We have used this company twice and they are awesome Tulum Mexico Airport/Hotel Transportation- Entertainment Plus.

The best beach/beaches you've been to?
David and Laura replied to starchild's topic in Honeymoon Forum
There are so many great beaches. The Virgin Islands are beautiful and it's fairly easy to island hop depending on where you stay. We stayed in St. John for the first half of our honeymoon, and went all over the islands. Here are a couple pics. Trunk Bay, St. John Hawksnest, St. John Deadman's Beach, Peter Island I think the best beach I have ever been to was in Green Turtle Cay, Bahamas. It's a really small island off the coast of Abaco island. I don't have any pictures, but here is one from google. You can walk out forever and it stays shallow and the water is super calm. -
VS bottoms tend to run big from my experiences, and they don't seem to correspond with their panty sizes. I wear a small in their panties and an xs in the swimsuits.

RIU Wedding Perfume??
David and Laura replied to PrecisePlans's topic in Jamaica Accommodations & Site
I wore Virgin Island Water by Creed. I fell in love with it when David and I were out shopping one day, but I didn't buy it. He surprised me with it on the day of my Bridal Shower. Here is the description: Virgin Island Water captures the tropical splendor of scents carried in the trade winds of Sir Francis Drake Channel near Ginger Island in the Caribbean • Top Notes: Essence of copra (the white inner portion of the coconut); coconut today (a liquid derived from the sweet sap of the palm tree); lime of the Antilles; white bergamot, and mandarin orange from Sicily. • Middle Notes: Hibiscus, ginger, ylang-ylang, and Indian jasmine. • Bottom Notes: Sugar cane and white rum of the Antilles, musk from Tonkin. -
Having been married, my advice is to keep things as worry free as possible. I can guarantee that no one will notice your table linens being too short, they will be too focussed on you and the amazing place you are getting married. If you really want to bring them, don't rent them; buy them and leave them. You won't want to have to deal with gathering everthing up and repacking it. I didn't realize how much stuff I had until I packed it (dress, OOT bags, suitcase, gifts). I am an overpacker, but just be aware of how much stuff you have. It's not fun to carry all that stuff through customs, especially if you have to do it on the way there and on the way home.
