  1. Weight-Loss Success Stories- Samantha W. - Weight-Loss Success Story - MSN Health & Fitness Before: After: Weight and Me I was always a really skinny child but once puberty hit I began to gain weight. I slowly gained over time but was never really big. I got engaged to an amazing man and it was like I stopped caring what I looked like. I just ate and ate. I put on 90 pounds in a year. I was miserable. People don't look you in the eyes at that weight. It's like you don't exist. That just made me eat even more. The Last Straw My mom mentioned she thought I might not be healthy. That was a nice way of saying what I and everyone else knew, I was morbidly obese. Thanksgiving I went to my future in-laws and my fiance's step-father kept making jokes about me being fat. I left in tears and vowed by next Thanksgiving I would prove how good I could look. I decided to start New Year's Day 2006. How I Did It I watched what I ate in 3 stages. The first stage, I ate any unhealthy food I wanted but not in the huge amounts I had before. That stage lasted about 4 months. The second stage, I ate only things that were low fat. I could have as much as I wanted but it had to be low in fat or no fat. The last stage started 3 months ago, and I finally started to count calories. I have not exercised while dieting so it has been all through food portions. The hardest part was eating a little bit and stopping. Your body gets full from small amounts but we just keep eating. The Key To Success I made a choice, I made a goal and failure was not an option. I did not think I could do it but I was going to keep trying. I focused on the long term over short term. Food will make me happy for 30 minutes, but weight loss will make me happy longer. I started at size 22 and bought a pair of size 16 pants--that was my goal. I also wanted to weigh 180 pounds. It was my goal for the year. Derailers and Strategies Food derails me. I love it. It tastes great. I had to find healthy foods that I love to keep me from starving all the time. I enjoy the healthy foods and eat tons of it. My motivation is looking good in my wedding dress, but mostly being healthy and no longer being someone people feel bad for. When I Slip... Try to stay calm. Realize the food is in my stomach and the only thing I can do about it is make a plan for next time. What I did wrong this time and how I will deal with it in the future. When I Soar... When people do not recognize me. I've lost 130 pounds and my hair is longer so it happens a lot. People look at me funny and say "You remind me of someone." A girl I know used to make jokes and tease me about being fat, now I'm smaller than her and she's dieting to look like me!
  2. Our resort performers performed every night- one night they were fire dancers, the next disco dancers. They also worked around the resort during the day. They obviously are over-worked but they must like it. I would bet money that they aren't an outside group, but more employees of the resort. Just ask the WC.
  3. Your dress photographed so beautifully. I knew it would though! I love the orchids- a great touch! I love that your bridal party did the TTD too! So cute. You looked gorgeous and you can see the love. Congrats again!
  4. Happy birthday Paula!! Eat tons of cake.
  5. Jaime you little turd! LOL I hope you are having a fabulous time!
  6. And pretty soon you're going to be sitting here at BDW wondering "how the hell did time go so fast?" Before you know it, you will have been married for a year. Enjoy every second!
  7. My thighs are too fat so I'm sure my guests were thankful they didn't have to watch that. LOL We didn't do garter or bouquet toss. We only had 20 people and 3 were single. It just seemed silly.
  8. Does Subway count as outside catering? LOL
  9. So can the vendors bring in their own packed lunches? Or is that a no-no?
  10. No pictures! Bahhhh. It would be fun to do "cookie angels."
  11. Hmmm- I hope he waits until after the wedding. Since we have been married, I can start to see the thought process shift a little. My hubby desperately wants kids and I want to wait until finances are a little more stable. We aren't bad off, but I am just scared of being unprepared financially for children. Anyways, he just told me that he wants to sell is car and downgrade to one that's not as nice. He wants to put the money towards paying off some debt. His car is a total "toy" car so I can see it getting sold quick to some other single guy that wants some flashy car. We used to fight over toys all the time- we have a boat, 4 cars, and a 4 wheeler. We have since sold the 4 wheeler and are working on selling 2 of the cars. yay. All it took was getting married for him to start to settle down.
  12. Maura- I doubt the site would allow it, but could you have like sub sandwiches brought in for them? I guess since it's a cultural custom, the vendors will already understand. However, I could NEVER work that long without food. I'd be grouchy and horrible to deal with. Thank God I'm not a vendor because my health issues wouldn't allow for me to go without food for that long! With that in mind though, I always have food. Steve says that's one of the things he loves about me. I always have some type of snack/bar in the purse just in case. LOL- I guess a way to his heart really is the stomach.
  13. I bet it will only be in the morning. IF it does rain, i'm sure it will be a light sprinkle and it will still be hot. Try not to freak out! I bet the weather man is wrong.
  14. Very cute. Which one did Andy pick out? Steve would NEVER do that. He does point out tops sometimes when shopping and I will throw him a bone and get one once and awhile.
  15. Pack the dress, veil, starfish, groom- all else is golden. I'm a past bride, so I know best. LOL
  16. Thanks for the reminder. I need to double check I got the DVR to record!
  17. Great review. I'm so happy it turned out fabulous for you! This will be so helpful for other EDR brides.
  18. Oh LOL. My hubby would have been so pissed. It sounds like that stripper just went AWOL. No wonder he had such a terrible time- wait........did you tip her to be bad? haha
  19. Abbie, I think most photogs eat. It was in our contract to provide a meal- plus I think it's nice since they are working so hard. You really don't want pics of you stuffing your face right? LOL They didn't sit with our guests but at a table tucked away for the "servants." haha just joking. LC sets up a vendor table I believe because I saw our minister over there eating too.
  20. I'm a little late- happy anniversary! I can't believe it's been a year. It seems just like yesterday looking at your teaser pics! Congrats- I'm glad you guys got to have a nice dinner!
  21. haha adorable! I think it will make people smile.
  22. Oh I'm so sorry! I've had bad haircuts and cried my eyes out FOREVER. I totally know how you feel. It's probably not as bad as you think it is, because we are always our worst critic. Is there a way you can pin it back or style it so it's not obvious it's way shorter? I always get my hair done at the salon, but I hate the way they style it. Have you tried to style it yourself?
  23. Wow- that's a crazy stripper. I wouldn't care if my man went to a strip club for his party, but HE didn't want to. Now if he came home with welts and ripped boxers, I may have been a little more peeved. Kudos to you for keeping it positive. It does serve him right!
