Anyone with a lace dress?
jajajaja replied to uhleesa's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
Oh there have been a TON of lace dresses for DWs. Personally, I think they are perfect. The dress you linked is beautiful. I wanted a dress like that in the beginning but I couldn't find any that looked good on me. My dress ended up having a lace overlay and beading. -
If anyone is interested, we had a slow cooker recipe thread once. I will try to dig it up. http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...t-recipe-8832/

What's something you saw at a wedding that made you swear...

LMAO- at least he didn't remove it with his teeth! -
Franklin is totally creepy! Erin the best part about the books is when she talks about fashion.... lol! Can't recall any example, but IMO that's what really dated the book. Soo for writers out there, that's a good thing to remember. Don't include clothes that the characters are wearing as a strong detail. I like Jessica so I'm glad she's still around. I loved how she killed the dude and then lost him.

Those look so yummy Tammy! But you are such the chef! Everything you make looks so good.

The ultimate summer drink: Watermelon Cooler
jajajaja replied to Alyssa's topic in Martha Stewart Wannabees!
Hmmm... I printed the ingredients and I'm giving it to bartender Steve. Let's see how he fairs. He likes to make drink concoctions and surprisingly he's pretty good at it. I worried if the watermelon juice would be strong enough to mask the vodka. It's hard for me to drink vodka since I've thrown it up so much. HA! I'm classy. -

Ohhh skillet lasagna. I like the sound of that! At first I was retarded and couldn't figure out what you do with the noodles- but I get it now! They are broken up! LOL I so need to start cooking again! And I'm totally checking out that WW book! Thanks for the recommendation!

Your bday is 4th of July? Awww lucky duck! I've always thought that would be the coolest bday. Everyone is usually off work and wants to party. Mine falls around Columbus day... jealous? Thought so! Happy early bday! The head spinning was really gross. I was like WTF? I get that they can have hate-sex, but I just sat there disgusted. LOL Freaking FB for faking me out and makign me think there would be a sexy, steamy, too hot for TV sex scene.

First, I would check in here: Unofficial Barcelo Maya - Index because they have MANY threads on just that topic. However, word of warning (and I hope I'm not offending anyone that was married at Barcelo Maya or belongs to that site), I think they are OBSESSED with Barcelo Maya so if you are looking for objective, balanced opinions, you might not get them. But they have EXCELLENT information about the resort. However here's my take and we have vacationed/travelled a lot: Rooms- sufficient. However, beds were really hard (didn't bother me actually cause our bed at home is too soft), but a few in our party complained about it. BUT the sheets had that rubbery cheap feel and they didn't put anything on the bed other than sheets and the comforter- which I NEVER sleep with at hotels. It creeps me out. So we weren't as impressed with the bed. Food- we thought the food was good the first couple of days but then we just got sick of it. They had little variety in the buffets/grills so I felt like we were eating the same thing over and over again. I'm a little pickier than my husband and even he complained about how bland and boring the food was and he eats everything. Breakfast was the worst because literally same thing every day. Dinners weren't too bad because you can mix up with the ala cartes- which weren't too bad. We really liked Capri (seafood) but felt the steakhouse and Italian were good, but nothign to write home about. Alcohol- we debated doing Club Premium and in hindsight we would either do it or book at the Palace instead. Couple of reasons- 1. room location. We were in the VERY last room in tropical so we had to walk quite a bit to everything. Ok to burn off calories I suppose. But we didn't luck out on room placement and with Club Premium you get the ocean view rooms- which should be liberally stated. All rooms are off the ocean quite a bit... but still "ocean view". 2. Alcohol!! The alcohol is pretty poor. The only tequila they serve is Jose Cuervo so we didn't do any shots and actually ended up going to Sams and buying some nice brand tequila for like $20. I was suprised with the quailty because for our wedding in PV, we stayed at a Barcelo resort and they had much better alcohol selection. But for vodka they had smirnoff and rum I think they had bacardi. Not bad but when in MX, I like tequila! Resort- GORGEOUS! Probably one of the prettiest and most expansive resorts I've been too. I didn't realize how large it was! I saw pictures but until you get there and walk it's another story. Pool- perfect! Enjoyed many days here. LOVED IT! Beach- Awesome. Snorkeling is really good here. We actually did an excursion to Xel-ha and a few days later decided to try snorkeling at the resort. We were completely shocked how good it was and it actually trumped Xel-ha in this area. Bring bug spray.... they spray every night for mosquitos but I still got many bites! Just had to throw that in! So to sum it up- for us, we said we would go back and try Palace instead. I was just disappointed with the food and alcohol. For some people it's not a big deal, but we like to eat and we really like to drink! lol

The 4th is on Sunday, but that's what DVRs are for! Comeon HBO lol. This espisode was ummmm... interesting. It seemed to follow the book a little more closely so I was kinda excited about that. Not that I'm against them not following the storyline, but just that we can see all the characters in the books! My hubby thought I was ridiculous fist pumping for the first Alcide sighting. What the heck was with Bill and Lorene's sex scene? UGH GROSS. On FB, True Blood called it the most talked about sex scene on tv which totally made me curious to see which one it was. I was hoping for maybe Sookie and Eric! But damn, what I saw was not what I was expecting.

Hmmm... I don't know if there is an actual luau that you can reserve privately- or if you do, I bet it would be a huge chuck of $$$ because of how many seats you would have to buy out. However, maybe see if there is a company that has fire dances and such and have them perform. Not a full blown luau, but a great peice of entertianment. Is this for your reception? Or just a group event? I guess for a group event this idea might not be as good. Not sure if this helps: Fire Performers and Fire Dancers OR Party Planning - Honolulu, HI - Dizanne Productions She also has fire eaters and fire dancers on her list of performers. Maybe you can do some type of ala carte act with her!

Congrats Dina! We will be in Oahu at that same time... I'm celebrating my 30th bday! I fell in love with Oahu on our trip there last Oct and can't wait to go back!!

Old thread- but we are going back to Oahu and I was looking at different stuff. Anyways, last Oct (2009) we went to both PCC and Paradise Cove. My hubby surprised me with PC as a gift (actually the whole trip to Hawaii, but that's besides the point.) I'd never been to a luau and he'd been to Germaine's and PCC's before so he picked PC based off reviews. Here's what we thought: Beautiful location! Actually quite breathtaking, as is nearly all of Oahu. I didn't like the pre-luau activities because I thought they were kinda lame, but I could see how children would really enjoy them. I just didn't like walking around with 100+ people from location to location and I couldn't really see or hear much. Food was mediocre- the guy next to us actually found an earing in his food. He was sitting here eating and spit out a earring. Quite disgusting to say the least. Hubby bought the upgraded seats (I don't remember what the package was, but we sat in the very front and had extra drink tickets.) I do not recommend the upgrade. We had extra tickets, but the lines were so long and half the time our servers forgot our drinks so we had like 4-5 tickets left over. It was a flop. The show itself was fun- I think the performers are age range 18-20ish. They looked like they had a great time and I enjoyed that aspect. However, at the end we didn't really feel like it was worth the money and I was disappointed since it was the first luau I had ever been too. Pictures from my shitty camera phone because I broke my digital camera on the trip! So we decided to to go PCC- they had the show "Ha- Breath of Life" running. It's not really what you would think of as a "luau" per say, but more of traditional luau dancing in a more theatrical format. I LOVED IT!! We had a blast and I was just so enchanted with the show. Beautiful story and 110% professional. I would recommend this show to anyone. Food- it's basically a buffet (at least the package we bought... we didn't buy an upgraded one after we were disappointed with PC, we didn't want to spend more money!) The food again was alright.... but I think we only paid $70-80 per person for the dinner and show so it wasn't a huge deal. We spent double that for PC and it had the same caliber of food, except at PC our meal was plated (because of the upgrade) so we didn't have the freedom to choose like you can at a buffet. Yes no alcohol, but frankly, we didn't really notice since we barely got any at PC. THe luau is not on a beach so it's not really the luau you would picture in your head. BUT I would still recommend it over PC any day. I simply loved the show!

A week away.. AND No Dress!
jajajaja replied to creoletexan's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
Oh totally check in! I would be freaking out too! It will give your peace of mind to see that's she's started something- hell even pinned it! If not, take them somewhere else and pay to have it done ASAP. I know it totally sucks, but you gotta do what you gotta do! -
Oh I'm so sorry to hear this. A loss of this magnitude is always so devastating. While you and your family are in pain now, take comfort that he went peacefully and he is now related with his love. In the meantime, I hope it gets easier for you. I'm sure he knows just how much you loved him.

Mine were nominated so I need to get out there and see if I'm forgetting anyone!

I'd loan mine too but I gave them back to my friend to reread. I think about 5 people have read them so they have had quite a life thus far.

You can buy a package on amazon for like $35 if you can't wait... lol! I really enjoyed reading the books.
