  1. Have fun Erin. You know I'm sure my in laws think I turned their son into a raging alcoholic. He didn't drink before me and when they arrived at MX, we were at the swim up bar with people chanting "shot! shot! shot!" while DH downed another tequila shot. Their faces were priceless. My parents are visiting this weekend so I have to whip out the q-tips and toothbrushes for cleaning too!
  2. haha Lindsay- on the way there we passed a wrecked catamaran. Supposedly it happend during a nasty storm. Your mom wasn't too out there.
  3. Wooohooo! Although I can't say moving is exciting- ever, but maybe it is when you finally move into your new house that you OWN! Congrats!
  4. The one Amy posted said it's 100% polyester. I can't imagine you would want to wear that- especially in the summer or after 1970. But then again, it wouldn't be see-through.
  5. haha my mom was such a panicky one too. I think they are nervous with all the wedding jitters.
  6. "Rice is traditional, but bubbles are more fun. Help us cheer on the newlyweds as their life has begun." I tried to google more and I didn't find any.
  7. Wow- they do lots of extras for the wedding beautifully. I love the shell centerpieces. So great you don't have to worry about packing things down with you so it's just right. Great review. I'm sure it will be so helpful for the girls. Now I want to plan another wedding there because it's so pretty.
  8. "Blow me!" Ok sorry- I have nothing productive to provide. LOL
  9. Ok we had a thread dedicated to brain storming what the airlines will start charging for. I think they may have read it.
  10. I hope senate gives them enough hell so we can see the prices begin to decline. I seriously doubt it though.
  11. Oil execs defend huge profits before Senate - Oil & energy - MSNBC.com WASHINGTON - Top executives of the five largest oil companies tried to shift anger over high prices to a debate over supplies Wednesday, leading a senator to accuse them of acting like “hapless victims†while racking up record profits. Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., told the executives there’s “a disconnect†between normal supply and demand and the skyrocketing price of oil — surpassing $130 a barrel even as the oil leaders testified — that the industry has yet to explain. J. Stephen Simon, executive vice president of Exxon Mobil Corp., said profits have been huge “in absolute terms†but must be viewed in the context of the massive scale of the industry.†He also said high earnings are needed “in the current up cycle†to pay for investments in the long term when profits will be down. “’Current up cycle,’ that’s a nice term,†replied Leahy with sarcasm, “when people can’t afford to go to work†because gasoline is costing close to $4 a gallon. He asked Simon what his total compensation was at Exxon, a company that made $40 billion last year. Simon replied it was $12.5 million annually. Two other executives, John Lowe, executive vice president of ConocoPhillips Co., said he didn’t recall his total compensations as did Peter Robertson, vice chairman of Chevron Corp. John Hofmeister, president of Shell Oil Co., said his was “about $2.2 million†but was not among the top five salaries at his company’s international parent. Robert Malone, chairman of BP America Inc., put his compensation at “in excess of $2 million.†Sen. Arlen Specter, R-Pa., said Exxon’s annual profits increased from $11.5 billion to $40.6 billion in the past five years and there was no explanation for “why profits have gone up so high when the consumer is suffering so much.†The five companies earned $36 billion in the first quarter of this year. The executives, appearing under oath before the Senate Judiciary Committee, said they know high prices are hurting people, but they said the cause is not company profits but global supply and demand. And they sought to use their appearance before Congress to argue against new taxes on their industry “I urge you to resist these punitive policies,†said Hofmeister. Senate Democrats recently announced an energy package that would tax “windfall†profits of the five companies. That might have public appeal, Lowe told the senators, but oil companies should not be viewed as “a scapegoat†for high prices. That was not what many senators wanted to hear. You have “just a litany of complaints that you’re all just hapless victims of a system,†Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., told the executives. “Yet you rack up record profits ... quarter after quarter after quarter.†“I’m sorry to sound like a victim. I don’t feel like a victim at all,†replied Robertson of Chevron, saying that he was proud of his company’s investments in future supply. Sen. Richard Durbin, D-Ill, accused the corporate executives of ignoring the plight of people suffering because of high energy prices. “Where is your corporate conscience?†he asked them. “The issue is simple,†said Leahy. “People we represent are hurting, the companies you represent are profiting.â€
  12. OMG. I read this and was like why's Yari surprised. Haven't they been talking about this for the past few months. But I just reread it and realized it was for FIRST BAG! Holy crap! I'm fearful because I'm sure all others will follow.
  13. Oh my goodness- it's so pretty but I can only imagine the pain!! My hubby has several tattoos and I remember how painful they looked the day after. My tiny tattoos can't even compare. I agree that the initials just look a little plain compared to how intricate the rest of the tattoo is. I think something a little dressier- font, color, etc. would really be nice. I think clouds or water around would look nice but then that's close to your elbow- OUCH! But if you can hang tough, why not? It is such a lovely way to honor your dad. I'm sure he loves it.
  14. Very pretty! We only had like 20 people (18 guests) and our seating looked so bare. LOL After our bridal party stood up- which was 3 more people, we had like 15 sitting. I'm not sure this would have worked for that few. But it's a pretty idea for larger weddings.
  15. I started it right away- about a year before the wedding. I gradually added information as it developed.
  16. I voted for the bows. I think they are pretty. However, I wouldn't go broke on shoes. No one will see them and I bet you would take them off anyways to dance.
  17. I'm an Executive Admin Assistant for a casino director. I make $40,000 a year which isn't too bad considering my day to day duties are helping the boss problem solve the tough decsions like "how do I get a squashed bug off my computer screen?" No joke. I had to fix that one yesterday because it got squished behind the privacy screen and she thought it was actually stuck IN the monitor. She even called our IT dept for help until I stepped in and solved the big problem. Needless to say, I hope I switch jobs soon. I started as an exec admin right of college and "worked my way up" to this job. I really hope I find a job soon that's more rewarding and offers a little more of a challenge. It's hard though- my job is cake. No stress and I seriously like that.
  18. Oh I'm so sorry! I've totalled a car before and it was not fun. Especially since I only had liability and it was my fault. Totally know what you are feeling. I agree with Alyssa. Thankfully no one was hurt.
  19. Oh I've seen Fuk Yu too! LOL
  20. It looks so comfortable. That will be so nice- you will look gorgeous and be totally comfy!

    Hello...

    Welcome. Happy planning.
  22. Welcome. It's refreshing to see a groom excited for wedding planning. We have a few men on here so you guys can do some male bonding. LOL
  23. We have some crazy ass named customers too. I'm going to have to ask Steve to remind me of a few of them. One I know for sure is Suk Dong. I think that's the way it's spelled. Steve has to announce the name for his slot tournaments and it's hysterical.
  24. I don't think gas prices will be going down in the next 4 months but actually continue going up. I wouldn't wait any longer or you will have a steap price to pay.
