  1. And Morgan- I call men B's too. Actually none of my words are really gender specific. I use them freely on everyone and anyone.

I was on paxil and one time I went on a trip and forgot to pack my meds. I felt like I was on crack! I woke up really early at the hotel and wanted to go run around the building or swim in the pool. My parents (I was 17 at the time) told me to chill out but I couldn't. They finally let me go walk the hallway but every step I took I felt like someone was shocking me. It was so scary. The doc switched me to zoloft but I had the same thing happen. I eventually read up on the meds and read all these horror stories. One girl drowned in the pool because she has shocks like that and it caused her body to tense up. Anyways, I refused to be on it anymore and I had to gradually decrease the dosages. It was HELL.
  4. LMAO- who was the runner because it certainly wouldn't be me! That's awesome Jamy. I get so cranky when I'm waiting in line and I know it totally ruins the experience. What a great way to save all that headache.
  5. I'm going to bet that although they are complete asses right now, they will end up having fun and regretting that they acted like that to begin with. Since they don't travel much, I bet they are worried about MX. I had a few people like that- they thought I was taking them down to crime central. They just don't realize how nice it really is. I bet they will have a fabulous time, then regret for dragging their feet and buy you a REALLY nice BBQ to make up for it like my inlaws did. LOL

I sent him an e-mail last night to see if there is anyone he can recommend in the area. I'll send you a PM when I hear back from him. Thanks Rebecca! That's so nice of you. The 2nd hospital said she didn't need to see a neurologist because her body was reacting in a "normal" way. I know it sounds so odd, but when you think about it, it does make sense. Her brain is completely overstressed and they said she was having neurons fire so rapidly that her brain didn't have time to process them all. That's why she convulsed. Later, she began to pass out right and left because her brain was shutting down and trying to make the neurons stop firing. It was the craziest thing to see. She would pass out for 20 secs and then pop back up normal for about 20 secs and then pass back out. She may still schedule an appointment with a neurologist to just follow up but yesterday the closest appointment we could make was in 2 weeks. That's why we were freaking out so bad! The 1st hospital sent us home and said "see a neurologist" but we couldn't get her in to see one for 2 weeks. That's madness. The part that pisses me off the most is that they DO have a neurologist on staff. We asked the ER doctor several times to get her to see the neurologist at the hospital because we did not want her to continue this for two weeks. He ignored us a few times, but then once we started to get really pissed and all the STRANGERS in the ER started to get pissed with us, he told us he would go check with the neurologist. That asshole never returned and we waited for about an hour for him. We have been discussing sending a letter to the hospital and to our local newspaper. However, we didn't get home last night until 10pm so I'm not sure if anyone is still thinking clearly. We will be taking care of this though. It's so wrong that she was treated this way and the ER watched us cry our eyes out as she continued to convulse on the floor. After the fact, we wished we had used our cell phone to record it all but of course, you don't think like that during those situations. Girls I can not tell you how bad it was. Honestly! We are not talking one to two convulsions. We are talking convulsions one right after the other- some 2 mins apart, sometimes every five minutes. They were definitely different categories of how hard they shook her body. She was conscious through it the whole time and knew she was shaking like that. The only time she would lose consciousness was when they got really bad which happened at least every hour.
  7. Hi girls, Thank you for all the kind wishes and thoughts. Today has been one of the most emotionally and physically draining days. I feel like crap and I def. look like crap. After my aunt called me, I basically walked across our company to her office (yep, I work in the same building with 3 of my 6 aunts.) We all pow wowed in an office trying to figure out our next move. We all left work shortly after and went to the same hospital she was discharged from last night. After waiting for a few hours, they discharged my aunt again. We were all so shocked because we thought for certain they would keep her since she got worse. They didn't. They told us that she needed to see a neurologist. They didn't know what was wrong and didn't provide us with anything other than go home and make an appt with a neurologist. This was obviously unacceptable to us. We (7 women and a husband) sat in the hospital waiting room with my still convulsing aunt trying to figure out our next move. We all had phones out calling various health care professionals begging for help. Meanwhile, my aunt continued to have convulsions every two minutes. Some were more powerful than others. Some made her convulse so bad she would fall out of the wheelchair even though we would try to keep her in it. Several times we called for help but no doctor or nurse would come to our aide. We were in the FUCKING ER WAITING ROOM! No one would help because they discharged her. My aunt was so hungry so I got her a sandwich and she would eat between the convulsions. We finally decided we were going to drive her to the next hospital 30 mins away. We wheeled her out to the front of the hospital and as we were waiting for my uncle to get the car, she began to convulse horrifically. I can not describe how horrible it was. She looked possessed. Strangers began to shout for help and not one single person came outside to help us- no nurses and no doctors. We felt we couldn't take her to the next hospital in the condition that she was in, fearful that something worse would happen and we wouldn't be able to revive her. We went back in the ER and this man that had watched my aunt convulse in the ER waiting room began yelling at a nurse that it was ridiculous they were not helping her. Finally, they took her back into the room and took my uncle to fill out paperwork. They left her convulsing all alone in her room for 45 mins. She was so terrified and no one checked on her. We were all in the waiting room thinking she was getting medical care when she was actually all alone. They brought her back out and had given her another muscle relaxer and told us again they couldn't do anything for her. Frustrated, we decided to take her to the next hospital. Along the way she continued to come in and out of consciousness. She would then thrash about, hitting her head on the window. Once at the bigger hospital, their care was completely different. They immediately rushed her back and had a doctor look at her. They kept her under observation for about 3 hours and the doctor said she has pseudo seizures. He said she is suffering from stress and this is her body's way of telling her to deal with it. He prescribed her anti-anxiety medicine and talked to us all about how she needs to change her lifestyle, etc. He reassured us that her convulsions were not harmful to her body. It was just scary to watch. He gave her some other pills that would basically make her sleep most of the next few days. He said she is continue to stress her body more and more so she needed to take a few days to relax and sleep. She will continue to do the convulsions, but he said we should watch her and make sure she will not endanger herself in the process. He encouraged her to work on this problem through therapy along with finding some stress relieving methods with her primary care provider. We all felt like we had been racked over the coals today and I'm still so pissed at the first hospital. I can not even tell you how horrible they were and how they would sit there watching her convulse on the ground and not offer assistance. It was so heartbreaking. I have cried so much today. I can't even tell you how scary it is to watch a loved one do that. Its terrifying and you don't know what to do. We felt so helpless. We yelled, we cussed, we did everything that we could have possibly done to be an advocate for her, but we felt so defeated by the hospital. Thankfully, the second hospital seemed to care and treated us with so much respect and empathy. Now we all just pray that they are right and we can find a way to help her find some peace.
  8. OMG- one of my aunt's just called me bawling. My grandma is in tears and she is a rock. My aunt is currently in the ambulance as we speak on the way to the hospital and her convulsions are much more violent this time. My aunt said she was convulsing so hard she could hear the gurney in the background lurching around. I hate feeling so helpless like this.

Awww thanks Glenda. I would rollerskate to NY for you too! As for commitment, I guess I didn't think about other stuff. Goodness it is right. I'm in WW and haven't lost a POUND. Seriously, I suck and every day I eat a cheeseburger and think TOMORROW I will be better. I also have an unfinished scrapbook at my house and I haven't printed off ONE wedding photo even though I obsessively put them in order. Weird. I just read yours too and it seems prety accurate. That's exactly how I think of you- and it's pretty telling that you are a lawyer too. You keep your cool and not let emotions get the best of you. Plus you seem to give some of the most logical advice on the forum!

  11. Alyssa- who cares if you look like a control freak? You don't have to be around this person for the rest of your life, so who cares if they think you are over the top! You WILL though remember all the details for the rest of your life, so ensure they are right.
  12. I know she was placed on a new medication a few weeks ago and was experiencing problems with it. Her dr adviced she stop taking it immediately and she was scheduled for a check up this week. Her primary dr feels that it could be related so I guess we shall see. I need to call my cousin since I'm not getting updated fast enough. We have too many people in the family so I must not be at the top of the pecking order. LOL They took all the medication she was on to the hospital though so I dunno. They weren't concerned that it was drug related. Thanks so much for your kind words. I was hoping someone would have some info that would put my mind to ease- the internet just isn't providing enough answers! I find much more information here! Thanks again! I'll keep you all posted as well.
  13. It's ok I cuss like a sailor too! Steve HATES it. He's too much of a goody goody. LOL

I like change! Your strength: Your superstar charisma Your weakness: Commitment means nothing to you I think this is wrong. I just got married! Your power color: Fuchsia sweet! The day after he was acting very weird, my sister took him back to the hospital and checked him in. He was there about 2 weeks and fully recovered. Apparently he was having a reaction to a prescription medicine he was taking and the doctors gave him small dosages of it to stop the seizures. Once that happened he was fine. I hope your aunt recovers soon, it seems very odd she got sent home. Does she have an appt. with the neurologist yet? Her daughter was calling to make an appointment this morning. I'm not sure if they have made one yet. So your BIL was having like a withdrawl from a medication? I had an episode similar but I wasn't seizing. I was having misfires of neurons- basically every time i moved it felt like I was being electrocuted. I had to be slowly wheened off the med because my body was having withdrawls. Very weird. I'm happy to hear that your BIL was just fine. I just can't believe they sent her home because she just didn't have convulsions once. She had them so often that they had a hard time doing tests on her.

  19. She's in and out of consciousness. She doesn't remember seizing but she can kinda tell when it's coming on. She says things like "here comes another one." She is very drugged up so she isn't really to coherent. She had convulsions and collapsed when they were walking out the hospital doors. They ran and got a doctor and he told them that they still just needed to see a neurologist. That's just crazy to me!
  20. Last night, my aunt was transported to the hospital because she was seizing. She's not epileptic but she was having violent seizures that caused her to even foam at the mouth. Even after reaching the hospital and recieving some type of shot, she continued to seize roughly every two minutes. They gave her a MRI and didn't find anything. They also did bloodwork and found nothing abnormal so they sent her home after giving her a ton of muscle relaxers and advice to consult a neurologist. She seized several times on the way home. I was on pins and needles the whole night because I knew she was transported to the hospital, but my family is so huge I didn't want to be one more body in the waiting room until we found out the seriousness of it. I'm kind of dismayed how the hospital sent her home after 3 hours and had no idea what to do. They didn't even hold her for observation. I talked to one of my aunts this morning that's watching her and she said that she is still having a convulsions. I don't get it- why would they send her home? Is this normal? I am so worried!

  22. Ok I see what you were saying. I agree that most people don't even know what the legal limit constitutes as. I think states/counties should do a better job of educating the public in general. Why not have booths set up occassionally in which people can drink a beer then do a breathalizer. That way they understand how quickly the legal limit sneaks up. I would hope we could use a small portion of all the fines associated with DUIs to educate the public. I was fortunate and volunteered for one of our college's training course for police officers. They had volunteers drink shots of alcohol every hour or so and then we were tested- breathalizers and sobriety tests. I mainly did it for the free booze. LOL They then arranged rides for us home. It was a great learning experience for me too because I learned how quickly I became intoxicated. After that, I would have never felt comfortable driving after drinking.
