I ended up with a "light" gold dress. I suppose I could have done an alternate non-white color altogether but I still wanted to feel "bridal." I wore red, blue, purple dresses to my prom. I've never worn a white-ish dress for any other day but my wedding. 2. Wedding Rings I love the idea of wedding rings. I love that they represent commitment not only to each other but also to the outside world. The day I got to slip that ring on my hubby's finger was wonderful. I love looking at our rings and remembering our vows to one another. Not to mention that slight "He's all mine" feeling. LOL 3. The Bridal Party We had one to honor those closest to us. They didn't really have any other role than to walk down the aisle. They didn't have the traditional roles of throwing showers or parties, but instead to show up and share our love. 4. Your father giving you away My step-dad gave me away. I wanted him to walk down the aisle with me to honor him for being a part of my life. I felt it was a way to show him that I do think of him as my "father" figure. It wasn't really about the traditional "exchange of goods" (ie- the old thought of handing the bride over so another can now provide for her) but more asking him to be part of that respected, timeless role. To show the respect and admiration for the relationship we have built. 5. An over-the-face veil (blusher) I think blushers block the face of the bride. I'd rather see a bride walk down the aisle without it in her face so we can see her emotions and see her glowing smile clearly. I think some of the dropped veils are pretty though. I wore a veil for the look. I thought it looked soft and pretty. I thought it would photograph pretty as well. I had a wonderful Folklore class that explored different topics such as this. It was so fun and so educational. Good luck!

Oh I bet your little girl feels so special matching mommy. I love the button detail all the way down the back of the dress.

I tried to convince Steve to join- telling him that there are other grooms, etc. He wasn't convinced or even interested. I also tried to get my sister (MOH) and she didn't care either. Grrr...I wanted someone to share the obsession with me. Now I just promise to not get on the forum much when I'm home. That's why you don't really see me posting much after 5pm or on the weekends. LOL

Play a little photo game?
jajajaja replied to COFPhoto's topic in Post your Destination Wedding & Engagement Pictures!
LOL. I can't wait to start playing too. My parent's friend is a photog/graphic designer. He has all kinds of programs which he said he will be bringing to my house to install on my computer. He said he will give me some mini lessons too. I cant wait to start trying it out and sharing the progression with you girls. -

But I think the California Supreme court ruled to allow same sex marriages right? I don't know if anyone could overturn it since marriage is a state recognized thing right?

Oh that's adorable. They must be so thrilled. Good for them- and California.

Heidi's Planning Pictures (Post Wedding)!
jajajaja replied to h&a's topic in Destination Wedding Planning Journal
Wow- you sneaky one. I had no idea you had so many projects up your sleeve. I love your OOT bags. They are so cute and I'm sure your guests loved them. The colors were fabulous- I love the overlays with ribbon. Gorgeous. The blinged out stuff- AWESOME. Great touch. I absolutly LOVE your serving set all blinged out. Sooo pretty. I want all my silverware to look like that. LOL Congrats on being married. Welcome to the club. -
Sash or no sash?
jajajaja replied to Tobi's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
I'm with everyone- I like the sash. It's more complimentary to the figure. If the sash is going to be white linen, I still think you could do a bold, fun necklace. If the sash was like the one you posted (which I think is cute) then I would go with simple jewelry. -
How fun. I'm super jealous. You MUST report back.

Corsage, bout or nothing at all ??
jajajaja replied to Celina's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
Hmmm- I never even thought about doing it for my aunts' significant others. I mean, I know they are my uncles (or in your case- another aunt. ) We only did bouts for moms, dads, and grandparents. Otherwise everyone at our wedding would freaking have one. LOL -
Where to start.. and then what??
jajajaja replied to ripcat's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
To help get your ideas together, create inspiration files. Whenever you come across something you like, save the pic there. I had ones for cake, centerpieces, details, attire, etc. Your to do list looks good- are you thinking pro photog? That's a good one to get done early. -
Getting "married" before DW?
jajajaja replied to AmandaR's topic in General Wedding Planning Information
Andrea- I worried at first it would take away from the "magic." That's why we got married in Vegas and made it super silly. BUT trust me, it doesn't at all. You are still a bundle of nerves. I kept telling myself "don't be silly. you are already married- no reason to be nervous." Didn't work! I was so in love that day and it felt like our true wedding- for me it actually is. Who cares where we signed the documents to make it legal. The day in Mx is where DH and I seriously looked at each other and made the commitment to be husband and wife. -

do these look good together?
jajajaja replied to Mylee84's topic in General Wedding Planning Information
THey look great together- but I don't think you could pick a dress that wouldn't go with your dress. I was a Maggie bride too. I LOVE the detail of her dresses. -
My Aunt went to the hospital last night.....
jajajaja replied to jajajaja's topic in Chit Chat Corner!
Right now Jaime- no big plans. She is to see the neurologist on Thurs and hopefully from the testing they conducted he is able to determine what the issue is. I'm keeping my fingers crossed they figure it out. Seriously though- the most infuriating part is she won't listen to anyone. She keeps trying to do things on her own and won't ask for help. I get that- a bunch of my family members are like that. STUBBORN. But really- if you sometimes randomly pass out or loose control of your body, would you be standing over a stove cooking? Ugh- she is just so frustrating right now. I even took her like 20 movies so she can just relax and watch movies all day. I don't even think she has watched one! -

I also LOVED the notebook. Hmmm...I got a list one time from the internet and tried to watch some of the "older" movies that I had missed. I ended up loving The Way We Were with Robert Redford and Barbara Streisand.

Those closest to me def know about this forum, but I have to say they don't get our humor. I've tried to share things that I thought were incredibly funny- like our photo/caption thread. My sister said it wasn't funny. Well poo on her because I laugh out loud at them. Quote: Originally Posted by DanielleNDerek I don't check the forum that much when fi's home.
