This is very interesting. I saw one long time ago on TV and the things she told the owners completely shocked them. Does she do all readings over the phone or did you actually see her in person? It's crazy to think if I were to call from Oregon, she would be able to communicate with my dog while she's on the East coast. Weird...in a cool way.

Looking at dresses tonight!

So I was thinking of placing palm leaf fans on every chair for the ceremony, but I was wondering if they were even essential. Since the wedding is late in the day, will it be hot enough for them to be necessary? I would like to take one less thing, but if it's nice for the guests I will do it. Ann, I thought you did some. Did your guests use them?

My Reception Pics at Evita's Restaurant Ocho Rios

Looked like fun. LOVE your favors and table names. Cute ideas. The picture of the two of you at the bar is adorable. I love how your DH is looking at you, completely smitten. Congrats. -
Never thought I'd be in this boat -- devastated!

Wow. This is a really rough subject. I do understand the differences in cultural customs, but when your family came to America did your dad think that his children would not eventually be affected by Western influences and traditions? Even if cultural differences weren't part of the issue, this seems like such a weak subject for him to take such a strong stance on. I'm really having a hard time wrapping my head around his ultimatum. He may be disappointed, hurt, angered, etc because he doesn't understand, but I would never think this would something that would cause a parent to separate themselves from a very important day in the life of their child. Honestly- there are worse things. Just out of curiosity, does your mom have his last name? Hang in there. I bet he will eventually come around. I hope your family points out how petty and foolish he is being. Get with the times, pops. -

Beautiful. Thanks for sharing! Loved your bright BM dresses. Very pretty. Thanks for posting them Stephanie. -
I agree with the other brides that mention west coast Mexico. Since I'm a west coaster as well it has been very convenient for my guests to book a quick flight to Mexico. You may find some want to only make a weekend of it (so a quick flight means less time traveling-especially if they are only going for a few days this is important.) Some will stay a week. Your guests will want a vacation too! I planned my wedding during spring break to accommodate my family but it does make it more expensive for EVERYONE when they have to travel during busy times. Just one thought to keep in mind. And your budget of $20K is easily reachable. I think we stayed around $15K- which we included everything in our budget wedding related- rings, attire, cost of travel/stay. Good luck and happy planning.

Cute! My FI keeps telling me the first thing he's going to do after the pictures is jump in the ocean. I'm like whatever floats your boat. I'm glad your mom gave you the opportunity for a spontaneous memorable moment. Looked like fun!

Looking at dresses tonight!

I waited until the last possible moment to dress shop. I was not looking forward to it because I knew the dress sizes ran super small and I didn't want to feel like crap. I waited until I could lose some weight (barely did too) but honestly, once I started putting on dresses the anxiety melted away. I was only really discouraged that they didn't have more dresses in my size to try on. They had a ton of 6-8's and I am NOT that size. The larger dress shops seem to have more variety in sizes. I wasn't able to try on my dress because it was a size 6, but I tried on a dress similar to it's cut and style and loved it. I ordered my dress without trying it on and since it just came in, I really love it! Just keep trying. Don't get discouraged about the sizing. All women go through it. My size 5 bridesmaid had to order a size 12 dress. We all whine about it together. -

Cute wedding flip flops on sale
jajajaja replied to tvt's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
You know what's funny- we sold those at the gift shop in our casino but we charged $98 for them. People bought them like crazy. When I saw them featured in some magazine for $40 I was like OH MY GOODNESS. I couldn't believe that people paid $98 for flip flops, but I really couldn't understand why people paid over double their value. Craziness. But they are super cute. I like the saying on the sole of them. -

Yes post! I hired Elizabeth too. I'm dying to see them! -
I considered finding someone other than the bridal store. Thanks for the tip Julie. It's going to need a lot of alterations. It's sad that I have to stand on a stool for it to be the correct length. haha Thanks for all the compliments ladies. Choosing the dress is so hard and as I watched all the beautiful dresses posted on the forum I couldn't help think if I had made the right decision. It's definitely not the traditional white, so I prayed I made the right choice. I think it will look great next to the sand though.

I don't know if it will be that easy for me. I'm only 5'0. It's really long. Luckily they can remove the beaded hem and simply reattach it after its been hemmed. I hope that's not too costly or I might volunteer my help in sewing! Christine- I thought your dress was gorgeous too! I'm partial to lace/beaded dresses. I love how ornate they are.

Sweet. I may get that. My lashes need all the help they can get.

Yah, so my dress is finally here. I ordered it back in July so I have been a jumbled mess hoping I made the right decision. This was my first time ever trying it on!! So scary. Forgot to take pics at the bridal shop, but I made my sister put it on me at home. Still need the alterations but here it is: I think my little dog likes it. lol Detailed front. Top needs to be taken in!! Or I need to schedule a surgery ASAP. Back. Whew! I can't wait to see if after alterations. I have to have it severely hemmed at the bottom. I'm standing on a stool here! Plus I'm having the hips taken it. Way to much fabric. But yah, one less thing to worry about.

Whoa Jamie- what is this mascara? It peels off? Sounds interesting.

Hi Holley, I'm another LC bride but I too have never been there. March is coming soon though! It goes by so fast. I really suggest you check out the Las Caletas thread (if you already haven't). It's a ton of reading- I think we are at 93 pages but honestly, we have talked to just about everything. I booked the "deluxe" package. I know packages have changed since then so I'm assuming it's the largest. I only have 18 guests going so far. When I first booked, I booked the "intimate package" (there was only 2 packages and this one was considered the day time one.) I found out that this package shares meals with the daytime guests at LC. I wanted my own private dinner so I upgraded to deluxe. It could have changed since then. You could always ask Nicole or Kelley. We are staying at the Barcelo de la Jolla Misamoya. (I still can't pronounce the name. haha) It's more southern of Dreams so it might be considered inconvenient for some. They are remodeling it right now so it should be totally upgraded for future trips. Happy planning.

Ok, I'm at work too and had to watch a little bit of it. I couldn't download it, but it kept buffering. I'll try when I'm home. BUT was it really that rocky on the boat? YIKES! That boat looks smaller than the other ones that Jamy or Ann's party took. Was it? Now I'm scared because if they have smaller boats for smaller parties (which mine will be) there will probably be more motion in the ocean. haha. Tons of my family gets motion sickness and I told them no worries, since it's a big boat. Oopsie. Thankfully I'm going over earlier too. I don't want to be sick!

I love that cake topper! I haven't considered buying one cause they all seem a little boring to me, but I love the sassy bride. Haha- that's me.

Wedding Gowns - You VS Model
jajajaja replied to ~Melissa~'s topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
I like it better without the straps and gloves. hehe Very pretty! You look like a little girl all excited. I can't wait to go try on my dress. It came in early this week but I haven't had time to make an appointment to do my first fitting. EEK!
