Jillian Harris is the new Bachelorette!!
jajajaja replied to BachataBride's topic in Celebrity Gossip!
Umm ya he does. $$$$. The Bach contract was leaked sometime ago. Just for signing up and making it to the top 20 guys (or 25 in Jillian's season) they get $10K. The further along they go in the process, the more money they make. I think the final 2 were getting like $100k or something like that. Think about it- you really think these people put their lives aside for MONTHS with no job for love? Doubtful. Kudos for Jillian for dealing with this crap fully exposed. I'm liking that she's keeping it private. However, I'm guessing all is not as cool as what they are playing off. Can you girls really look at your FI/DHs and say "ok, no worries if you left me for a short stint and went and hooked up with 2 chicks only to come back to me and propose?" Maybe I'm looney but that would NOT be cool with me. -

I would like to agree, but then I remember that really stupid moment when Deanna came back to talk to Jason last season. They previewed it like she wanted him back but then showed them "talking." I know I watched it and was like "okaaaay??" It was a totally stupid moment that had no point and they had no shame airing it. But yes- this is tv. -

OMG- gross. I just read that US weekly link. I hope it's not true, but if the girls had texts and emails to prove it- yikes! -
That sucks. I have no advice to offer though- . Just one food for thought- many people say they will attend DWs and don't. So maybe you don't have to feel so bad about stealing eachother's thunder because who knows if those people would even attend either wedding to begin with! But it really blows that she's so nice and you like her. It would be much easier to deal with I'm sure if you hated the chick and wanted to do things in spite her. haha.

I agree. I'm over the Maryanne plot. Keep with the vampires and bring on the weres!

This season is starting to get really good. I'm not a total nerd, but I caught some show yesterday about ComicCon (is that it's name). They had everyone from True Blood there and they announced that they are releasing a new "soda" that looks exactly like True Blood. Kinda gross. Also- Tara is BEAUTIFUL. She looks so much better than what she does on the show. I can't figure out why Jason was shot during the last episode. They can't kill Jason off! So much more in his future- at least according to the books! But then again, I'm not sure the show's writers have even read the books. haha

I was away for a week and finally got to watch the finale and ATFR. WOW- I'm surprised show chose Ed. I didn't really care who she picked, although Reid was my fav. I'm just surprised how she went very quickly from being confused on what to do with Reid to accepting a proposal from Ed. Ummm- that doesn't seem quite right to me. And then on the ATFR show, she still seemed somewhat confused about Reid. I felt bad for Ed, who sat in the back and most likely watched the whole weird/awkward exchange. Totally LOL'd at Reid's comment about the "fantasy suite." Toooo funny. What was up with ABC showing the exploding lava after Ed and Jillian turned off the lights? Ummm- that was just a tad perverse. Still funny though. Overall, Jill looked happy with Ed. They are a tad too "cutesy" and clingy for me. I def wouldn't have them over for dinner. Those couples drive me nuts. haha -
Adorable Kate. I love the yellow. It's so fresh and clean looking. Gorgeous grounds too so you lucked out there!! Love the farmer's market flowers- laid back, yet still beautiful. Congrats on having another huge item off the "to do" list.

Sit down with your FI. Determine what's important to you- first and foremost. Go through possible scenarios and figure out if a DW is REALLY that important to you. Determine if certain people MUST be present and if so, what flexibility can you offer to ensure they are there. Once you have this figured out, plan your wedding as desired. I would not ask for recommendations/opinions. As you have found out- everyone has one!! Those that want to be there will figure out a way to make it work- especially if you have put extra thought into circumstances that may prevent them from going. Those that don't want to go will find an excuse no matter what. For some, it was a deal breaker if their family couldn't attend the DW. For others, they have discovered that, while it hurts, they still really wanted to have the wedding of their dreams. You just have to figure out what works for you. Good luck. It's a tough process, but YES, it's worth it.

I hope she reauditions Erin. But if she doesn't, I don't blame her. I think they were very hard on her in Vegas. She did that Sonja peice so well that Sonja used her as the example but then obviously nerves go the best of her and she didn't do as well for the judges. They HAD to know her potential and they gave so many others a second chance. That had to sting. As for what the judges say, I can't comment much on. The last few episodes I have mostly fast fowarded through them!

LAME. That's all I can say. I was SOOOO disappointed with last night's show. Nigel hyped it all up and then nothing.... I did enjoy seeing Hok again and I loved getting to watch some of the favorite dances. Rewatching those just made me realize how sad this season is. The same caliber of dance is not there IMO. Hubby and I were talking this morning about the show. We both wondered if Nigel has always done the "casting" thing for the show or if this year was the first year he decided to forego the best dancers and only pick those that he thinks the voters would like. I think this season was the first time I have heard him say that. Unfortunatley, I don't think he found a lot of dancers that connect with America (and Canadian non-voters. ). Ironic. I still can't help but wonder how Natalie would be doing (Katie's roommate that was cut early in Vegas.) I'm not commenting on Evan. Enough has been said. I DO feel bad for him though. I would hate to be the person that continues to hang on as more talented people go home. It kinda reminds me of that poor red-headed kid on American Idol that one year. He actually looked relieved to go home because America was beginning to hate him. He was pulling a Sanjiya! I agree that the 100th show should have featured past dancers more. Skip the Katie Holmes crap. If she isn't going to perform ON STAGE or actually sing and dance, then bring on the real dancers! I thought her number was a little too easy and I can't really give her props. Who knows how many cuts it took to produce that? I'm sure she shines on broadway, but for this show- I was disappointed to say the least. She did look gorgeous though!

Congrats for standing up for yourself Brandy. I hope you learned a great lesson! You shouldn't have to take your FMIL's disrespectful shit just cause she's your FI's mama. You certainly DO have to be respectful of their relationship, but there is no reason that you have to feel like you can't speak your mind if needed. If you didn't stand up to her, she would continue to walk all over you.

I believe so Yael. And I agree- my life is controlled by TV. I even watch tons of crap in the summer. Thank goodness for the invention of a DVR!

Tyce D'Orio (if that's how you spell his name) sounds like Tasty Oreo. Or Toasty Oreo. Something that's oreo and good. I think it's unfair that we don't get to watch SYTYCD Canada!!
-
and I forgot- Travis rocks as a choreographer and I LOVED Ellen. She made me not fast forward through the judge's commentary.

This show was SOOOOO boring last night. I was VERY disappointed. We had some unexpected company show up during the last half the show so I was kinda distracted. The hip hop was fun, but I wasn't impressed with Kayla. She looked like she was going through the motions and wasn't comfortable in the dance. Jason did a really good job. Tasty Oreo's routine was fabulous. Melissa was just so gorgeous and Ade really was the strong man. LOVED it. I was kinda pissed that they made some slow dances (aka- the waltz) even more sloooooooow. I feel bad for the dancers. Not their fault. Why did even the cha cha become slow? Anyways, I agree- something was off with Jeanine last night. It almost looked like she may have been emotionally spent. I wonder if Lorianne was really bitchy and tore her down. I don't like that chick. Hopefully, she is able to regroup and come back next week with a revived spirit. She is def at the top of my list! Evan definitely needs to go. PERIOD. I also don't really like when judges announce their favorite. I know it's a big compliment, but it skews the fan base. If they wanted to have the power to name the best dancer then they shouldn't leave the voting in teenybopper hands!

Let's not get caught up in semantics
jajajaja replied to SSNM's topic in General Wedding Planning Information
Future Mrs. Howell, Look up the rules for your county. Each one is different. I doubt you would be able to apply for a license and get married in the same day. BUT you can do that in Vegas! Also, no you do not need to have a legal license to get married at your resort. If you aren't going for the legalities, it's just considered a "symbolic" ceremony. That's what we did- married in Vegas, "symbolic" ceremony in MX. It was just easier that way for us. Good luck. -

WOW! I just stumbled upon this thread and I seriously want to kick that dude in the balls. SOOOO wrong. I'm sure if he send that email to all his possible clients, he doesn't have a business to stand on. -
my face is always shining! (shiny face)
jajajaja replied to boscobel's topic in Beauty, Exercise, Diet
Carly- I think the shine after you wash your face is a good thing. Mine does too- it's more of a "glow" but I love the way it looks- squeaky clean! But for the shine thing, YES I have that problem. My skin is an oily/dry combo. Soooo annoying. My recommendations- try some blotting paper. I LOVE it. I got mine at The Body Shop. I use it nearly every afternoon and I'm in gross awe of what it takes off my skin. Maybe try an astringent? It's suppose to cut down oil on your skin. I will have to check out that lemon tip too. That sounds refreshing! But I also wonder if the acid from the lemon is too harsh. I will research that! I also can't believe you don't wear a foundation. Your skin is beautiful! You are lucky girl. -

He has a blog at EW.com. Def married. He said that his wife commented that she is surprised that so many of the men are single after watching the MTA. LOL He's actually REALLY funny. -
Oh geez. I will never ever talk about my MIL again! I agree with the girls. Your FI HAS to put his foot down and not let her bully the both of you. That's exactly what's she's doing. If he has an honest discussion and she plays the "mean" card, that's just her being manipulative. He needs to recognize that and get over the guilt. My mother can be a tad overbearing. She's ADHD and would seriously call anytime she had a thought. I don't answer my phone and she stopped calling me. My sister gets phone calls all day long, because she tolerates it and allows her to do it. If I were you, no phone calls answered unless it's convenient for you. Also, that is SOOO out of line for her to make comments about your house- even if it WAS dirty. If she's going to be distant, aloof and straight up nasty, then she needs to keep herself over at her OWN house. I seriously wouldn't tolerate that shit. I would demand respect and if she can't give it, well then it's her loss when you guys stop talking to her and putting her furniture together. That is beyond wrong. Have a heart to heart with your FI. Let him know how much this bothers you. Tell him that if his mom can't be civil to you, then you don't want to be around her. It's his responsibility to rein his mom in. You should not be put in this situation and you shouldn't have to tolerate it just because she's your FMIL. You DESERVE respect- even if she doesn't like you.

Boo Hoo - Clothes from last year fit an 8 year old
jajajaja replied to SDSteph's topic in Beauty, Exercise, Diet
I think it's ok to be bigger than an 8 yr old so you shouldn't beat yourself up. Plus now you can get new clothes while also doing a good deed by giving your old ones away. -

I don't think he is doing spoilers this season because he isn't really privy to any info. Last year he had an "informant" who was on the show supposedly. I haven't checked out his site this year because I was really pissed all the fun was ruined for me last year by reading it ahead of time. Plus the guy is a huge douche and it's tough to stomach is big ego. However, I've read that Reality Steve is doing everything in his power to show ABC as scripted and they are the DEVIL. He's lost his marbles.... He did have a Wes interview in which, from the sounds of it, Wes may have broken his contract from having loose lips. I dunno- I didn't listen to it. I would have vomitted in my mouth too many times. Anyway..After that fiasco last season, I truly believe that the producers stepped in when they saw that her & Reid getting closer & when their ED became not so wonderful the second time around, and they said, let Reid go and we'll bring him back for you. Interesting theory. Could explain the weird exchange between Jillian and Reid. I saw that with my very own eyes. I guess we shall see, but I'm sure we will never know the real truth. I don't think it's totally scripted, but after all these seasons..this show knows what gets people talking. This was done on purpose (I believe) I don't think it's totally scripted either. Maybe "guided" is a better word. Oh & I wanted to Add, Jillian seemed like a Bitch to all of them at the MTA. I don't know what it was, but she seemed really strange. Aloof and distant! I thought she was being kinda cruel to some of the guys that she did have a connection with- like Michael. She didn't really say anything to him- at least it wasn't shown, so maybe we should give her the benefit of the doubt. I also think ABC is being VERY careful with this season after last season's unravel. So maybe Jillian had a long list of things not to say, so she just decided not to say anything so she didn't screw up. I would be nervous of accidentally running my mouth if I were her. I don't know why I'm so obsessed with this show. It's not natural. I guess I have no drama in my life so maybe that's why? Either way, it's sick!
