LMAO Tammy. So just out of curiousity, how deep is the "stealing?" I know it's the same venue, but what else? Colors? Themes? Cake idea? Invitations? Just curious. Sometimes weddings can all look so much alike as it is and it's hard to get "fresh" ideas. Since she's your friend, I'd like to think she's not doing it intentionally. Maybe she doesn't realize how similiar it all looks.

Correct me if I'm wrong someone, but I believe the CW has a fall show coming out based on Vampire Diaries so that might be fun to read. I haven't read it, but just so you know House of Night is very teen-ish too. If you have read Twilight, then you won't feel too silly reading them. It's a good story.

Oh my goodness. This is all insane. Ok- while I do get where you are coming from, I think you both should step back and take a deep breath before you kill each other. Weddings are important- yes. They are one day though. Marriage IS forever and hopefully so is family. Your sister is hurting you by being really inconsiderate, but I just want to make sure that it is THAT important to you to take it to this level. I mean- disinviting your sister? I pass no judgement because it's not my life, but I just want to make sure that before you act on anything to take a few days. If you still feel the way you do right now, then go with what you want. As for your cousin planning her wedding within the same year- it totally sucks, but I have a HUGE family and if everyone "picked" a year, some might not get married for 5 years. That might not be the same scenario that you face, but just wanted to give another perspective. I personally think it's unfortunate for her. She picked a date after yours and announced her plans months after yours too. She is at quite a disadvantage so that's her own fault!

I saw you're from Pismo Beach- are your friends? Especially the ones doing the complaining? Maybe you should send them some crime reports for Compton, Stockton, Oakland, etc? Crime is everywhere but I wouldn't be dogging MX too much with the crime that comes out of Southern Cali and other larger US cities. Just looking up Compton- an index rate that shows the high level crimes committed each year (murders, rapes, robberies, arson, assualts, etc.) has Compton at 666.4 (which is double the national average.) I know this is a distance from you, but that's like comparing crime in border cities to PV. They are not even close! Here's a really good blog too- Statistics | The Truth About Mexico He has some really valid points! I hope it helps!

Oh no! You just caused me to add to my ever growing list of to reads!
-
UGH! I think Erin tells me that every time! Ha. I guess I'm just too excited for a new one to get it through my head that it's NOT new!
-
haha I think you and I could compile an eclectic list. I have a list of fav classics but I don't throw those out too much because they generally don't have mass appeal. Jane Eyre was a good one too. I'm not sure if you've read that one. I also LOVED The Awakening by Kate Chopin. She also has a collection of short stories that are great too!

Touch of Dead Hardcover is Oct 6. But I think you have to wait for paperback right Erin?? In the meantime, read these series- House of Night by P.C. & Kristin Cast Mercy Thomspon series by Patricia Briggs. First one is Moon Called. Should keep you busy for a bit. And keep you update on the vampire doings.
-
I'll make sure to take 10th Circle off my list. I love Jodi so I'm sad that she can make a bad book. I just finished Mercy earlier in the month- it was interesting but I wouldn't call it as powerful as her The Other Sister or 19 Minutes. It fits in right above Salem Falls and Keeping Faith. Great recommendations Jenn. Lovely Bones is excellent- but sad. Maybe another consideration- The Other Boleyn Girl. I read that on my HM and couldn't stop. Or some classics- Wuthering Heights. Great, sadistic love story. haha Water for Elephants. Not a typical type of read for me, but I enjoyed the story. THe Glass Castle is SOOO interesting. It's supposedly a true story and people are just so unbelievable. I really enjoyed reading it and I kept bugging my DH by saying "Listen to this..." and would tell him parts of the story because I just couldn't wrap my brain around the way the lived. The Thirteenth Tale is suppose to be good. It's in my "to read" pile. Or the fan favorite that everyone recommends over and over again (yet I haven't read it) Time Traveler's Wife. Or if you want to try a new style of book that will blow you away- The Children of God. I had to read it for a SciFi class and I totally connected with it. I didn't think I would like one single book from the class (which I pretty much didn't!) but for whatever reason this one really struck a nerve with me. Great story.

I'm naughty- I had no idea who Evan Rachel Wood was so I googled her- she already looks vampirish in some pics! Anyways- here's some pics I ripped of her being Queen Sophie:
-
Eric is really old- a Nordic viking so according to wikipedia he's suppose to be 1100 years old in the books, but born in 1046 in the tv series. (I wonder why the variation- but whatever.) According to wikipedia, Sophie Anne is supposedly 1100 years old so born around the early 900's? It seems that Eric and Sophie are close to the same age so why doesn't Eric know the same stuff? Godric (aka Godfrey) has tattoos from the Roman times. Man I love wikipedia. It has a break down of all the books cause I can't remember crap. I read them too fast!
-
Oh no! You girls are adding to my ever growing "to read" list. I didn't mean to rip so much on the HofN series. It's a really good light read. I do enjoy it! I'm starting school this week so I'm really thankful to have an easy quick read where I can put it down and pick it right back up awhile later and not forget what was going on!
-
haha ok- I take it back. I take it back. Anything to avoid the Native American burn. Holy moly- I didn't realize you had such an affliction for Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks love stories. Who knew it would drive you to such violence! But geesh- at one time during this relationship of yours, you did have a "You've Got Mail" moment.
-
I just started reading this last week. How funny. It's totally a light read, but not as captivating as Twilight. Just as annoying though with the teeny bopper dialogue. However, it's a fun read and it's not time consuming- which is definitely what I wanted. I just started book 3 yesterday. Does it drive you nuts that they spell it "vampyres." It drives me crazy. I also didn't like how they didn't really explain how vampires and humans came to co-exist- like when did they come out of the coffin ala True Blood style? But I did tear up at the end of Book 2- so they do a good job telling a story.
-
Aww- congrats JM. But I think you might have to pass on the movie deal. I think it might be too similar to the ultra popular 90's movie "You've Got Mail" . It's amazing that you kept up in communication for all those years. I guess that just proves it's destined. Good luck!

Pretty sure I know what Sookie is- but then again, this series is throwing me for a loop so maybe I don't! I'm just surprised it's coming out this quickly. I love Jason. He was pure entertainment in this episode. I loved the tough guy going all Rambo style with a nail gun. LMAO- only Jason. Tara was SCARY! Thank goodness that is over. Totally annoyed that this whole Maryann thing will carry out until the season finale. I was kinda laughing at the crazy town's antics last night though. They kept cheering for bad stuff- and that was pretty comical. Not sure what happened to the Queen. I'm kinda scratching my head at that ending.

Facebook definitely has blurred the "what's appropriate" boundaries. Some people don't really think about privacy, because really, sometimes we don't have much anymore since so much info is on the internet. I think it's a good idea to maybe "assume the best" and chalk it up to them doing things differently. It keeps it stress-free for you and no sense adding more things onto your plate if it's not necessary. I would ignore the facebook RSVP and wait until she either asks or you have an official invite in hand. Now whether to attend the shower is completely up to you. Typically I would think it would be rude to invite someone to the shower and not the wedding. It's like "hey- give me a present!" I'd also assume that she gave names to whoever is throwing the shower as people to invite. So I'm assuming that you are also invited to the wedding. But hey- you never know these days because people are kinda wonky.
-
I guess the other thing too Kristy is that so many people now send Save the Dates out so now that you mention I have received shower invites prior to wedding invites. However, I clearly knew I was invited because in those cases I had a save the date. I'm kinda thinking that the facebook thing is just to encourage another outlet of RSVPing. I could be wrong. I've had people send invites to me for showers (baby and bridal now) providing a number to call and RSVP. But then I end up getting invited to the event via facebook, which you can RSVP too. I think in those cases some people are using mutliple ways to get an answer because so many people do NOT RSVP. As for the addresses viewed by the facebook group- I think it's weird but it happens. My 10 yr high school reunion was this year and they had a facebook group trying to track down people. People were posting other's addresses and phone numbers and I was like HELLOOOO- privacy. It also asked people to reply with their address, which I didn't but many did.
-
Ok, it is all a little strange, but maybe she just assumed that you would know you were invited to the wedding. I thought it might be a possibility that they sent out invites to people but then she updated her facebook status to remind everyone to RSVP. I don't know. If I were you, I would just straight up ask her. Just casually say "Hey, I got a bridal shower invite but I never received one for the wedding. Are we invited?" While that conversation will be really awkward if she says "no," I don't think hard feelings could come out of it. I mean- it sounds like you really don't want to go and you don't want to invite her to yours. Good luck though!.
-
Ummm...kinda like the ending for Godfrey? I actually teared up reading about him in the book. I wonder if they are making him a new character or something? I can't remember what happened to Hugo in the book. I read this series too fast I think. That heart scene was disgusting!! I'm not sure where they are going with it, but I kinda wish they would just move on from the Maryanne story line. We get it-she's evil and she wants to sacrifice Sam. They keep showing it over and over like it's shocking.

Oh and I thought the judges dance was LAME. I'm such a cynic but come on. THey just wanted to be on the Kodak stage with all those people cheering. And I LOVED Jeanine's comment about wanting to thank the academy. Too cute. Ok..I'm shutting up now.
-
So the last two shows kinda redeemed this season for me- ha I'm so fickle! I hate it, love it, hate it and now LOVE IT! I'm so excited Jeanine won. She's cute as a button and dances with so much passion and drive. She REALLY brought it so I'm absolutely thrilled she won. Brandon- wow, you could see winner, winner, chicken dinner all over his face. He was tasting victory and he stepped up too. I was equally excited for him, but overall, I'm biased and wanted a chick to win. He deserved the title too. Evan- #3? Over Kayla? Over Melissa? Ade? Not so sure about that but whatever. I think his dance with Brandon really proved that he did not belong. I saw him spotting Brandon soooo many times during the dance to make sure he was with him. Kayla- I thought she looked beautiful, gracious and excited. However, her solo disappointed me and I couldn't see her salivating for the title so she wasn't one of my choices to win. However, she's a phenomenal dancer and I agree with Nigel that she should have shown more personality. Now for just random comments: What was up with that kiss between Jeanine and Jason? I remember it the first time around and was like WOW. Then Jeanine admits in her interview with Cat that it was not choreographed. But then in the encore of the dance, they get even more steamier. Is there a little heat there? Just wondering.... Also- Jason and Kaitlyn (that was her name right? crap, I already forgot!) had that Bollywood kiss in the 1st show of the season. I was caught off guard by that one at the time and was speculating a Jason/Kaitlyn romance because it looked like they both wanted that kiss. But I noticed that during the encore dance, Kaitlyn cut the kiss a little more short and it didn't look like she was feeling it. I wonder if there was some Jason playing the field. haha So I didn't listen to any judges really- I had to squeeze both 2 hour shows in last night so I just fast forwarded like mad. It was actually kinda nice.

haha Amanda- he did look sloppy. And then on the The Final Rose is hair was all crazy. I was completely distracted by it. I thought maybe he looked so sloppy begging her back because it kinda went with the "I just pulled strings and flew in from the East coast to be here and beg for you back." But I read something somewhere (it may not even be a fact) but it said that Reid didn't even leave Hawaii. I dunno- all that crap aside, he did look like he was pulling a Wes. Susan- I too want the drama in the seasons. I kinda forget that they are "real" people and not fictional characters. It's hard to sometimes separate that and I've read comments on other websites of people getting all pissy like "they are real people with real feelings." Sure- but not when they are on my tv screen. haha I, of course, would never be so opinionated about this situation if I was talking to Jillian's face. It IS her life, but I still like to talk about it since she's not a real person to me. -

They get a shit ton of money for getting married on tv. Hell- I would do that for the money. I'd crap on tv for like $100. haha Quote: Originally Posted by cdnvb9 and i guess I would have to disagree with your last paragraph b/c thats exactly what happened with me and my fiance. And actually, out of ALL my gfs, only one of them got married without breaking up. I think thats very true life. (unfortunately!) I understand that couples break up and then get back together. I didn't mean it like that at all. I simply meant that he left for TWO weeks and supposedly screwed some girls then came back to propose to her. All of this "cheating" took place in a time span of like a month. I doubt anyone can argue that you are in the right place of mind to get married if you do something like that. That's all I meant.
