This is totally a decision only you and your FI can work out. Everyone has different priorities. We wanted a DW so we didn't waiver when his parents hinted about not coming. His grandfather has never flown (other than to WWII) so he said he won't come. FI's brother has major finance problems so he can't come. We decided that although these people will be missed, we wanted to do the wedding we dreamt of. That was important to us. His parents ended up coming in the end, btw. I have a feeling that your FI's family would end up going in the end as well. They probably just want to bully you into doing it their way in the meantime. We had people try to do that. If it's what you really want, stick to your guns. Only suggestion- have a heart to heart with FI. Find out if he is still willing to have a DW if his parents or other family members won't come. If you agree that it's best to continue on towards a DW, don't look back. Enjoy the wedding YOU wanted.

I tried to steal three times from a banned member- now I barely have any points. hahaha- I'm a gambler. I admit it. Anyways, after I suddenly became poor I looked up the odds of being successful at a theft. Its really bad odds. Only 3 people have been successful out of like 27 attempts. Don't do it!! haha

haha Abbie. That's a completely ridiculous story. Seriously- people have designated colors they wear? That's just silly. If I were you, I would tell SM to try to keep in mind what the wedding is really about and the bride's dress is the ONLY dress everyone should be concerned about. I'd serve her up a dish of guilt really quick so she will stop the petty stuff and move on. With all the stressors in weddings, this should be the LAST thing you worry about. Geesh people!

Oh I didn't take it as you calling it "cheap." I just didn't want you think it was an unexpensive alternative. Just the "wedding day" aspect of the wedding is a little over $6000. I only have 20 guests so I guess I did spend nearly $300 per head when all is said and done. Keep in mind this figure is for everything- gratuities, transportation, decor, food, alcohol, taking people over to Las Caletas early, etc. However I think there is a BIG difference between paying $300 per head to have a 3 hour sit down wedding at a resort than to have a wedding in which you pay for a secluded area complete with a catamaran and seven hours of open bar. To me, it's more like an event.

Ok I'm retarded. I thought this was a slideshow of giving birth. I wasn't sure at first so I read the comments. Now that I know what it is- adorable. The pictures are so beautiful. So much better than my JCPenny's baby pics. Lucky little baby.

My sister is 22 as well and I paid/planned my bachelorette party, paid for half her dress (she picked out a more expensive one that I had anticipated) and really not done much else. In her defense, I probably would have been worthless at 22 as well.

To me, it sounds like the other WC is just trying to justify her costs in hopes that you don't know any better. I wouldn't call LC a "lower priced" place either. The thing is that you pay x amount per head for apps, dinner, alcohol, boat ride, ect. Then you also pay the "total package" price. Not really sure what that covers, but it ensures a private event, a beautiful location and an unique wedding experience to blow your guests away. You can add extras but the cost to add the extra is up front and advertised on their website. It doesn't change per bride so you don't have that "cheated" feeling when you find out someone else got something cheaper than you.

I can PM my contract to you if you would like. It's VERY basic. Plus I didn't have a lot of extras.

That sucks. Sometimes people have no clue and your dad obviously is stuck on the clueless track. I would think he would understand. Other than that- I'm in a rotten mood today. Stupid PMS. So many people I wish I could just smack around. Want me to smack anyone for you?

Hidden costs at Las Caletas? Not really. The wedding coordinator is included in the package you purchase. Everything is pretty up front. Have you checked out their website: adventureweddingspv.com? They have a little area where you can enter in all the things you would want at your wedding and it tells you the total cost. This was the easiest wedding ever!! to plan.

Thanks Ann! I wish I had 60 people going (though my wallet is much fatter because there isn't that many.) I'm sure we will have a smaller boat since we only have 20 people and I'm taking nearly half over the day of the wedding. Oops- this won't make those with sea sickness too happy! FYI to everyone- Nicole doesn't receive messages in which you reply to the original message. That's why she wasn't getting my messages! Whew- glad that is all straightened out. I was getting nervous I wasn't going to be able to pay the rest of the bill because I wasn't hearing from her!

A few people who are wary of the boat ride asked how big the boat is. I tried googling for a pic too. I guess if you have one that shows that its not a small fishing boat that will do.

Yes men totally have "meriods." And just what do they have to be so grumpy/moody about?! I always tell my FI if I could curse him with one day of bad cramps I would. One day he told me I had a low pain tolerance when I was whining about how bad I felt. I totally wanted to smack him.

I think they are her dresses. We loved some from Nordstroms and then searched her site when looking at BM dresses. We ended up not getting one though.

I do too because otherwise my lashes are MUCH lighter than the lashes and they blend in with the fake ones as well. I just lightly brush some mascara on though.

When I contacted my WC about a fun place to have a welcome cocktail reception, she recommended this place :ZTAI Restaurant Lounge and Garden Puerto Vallarta Mexico I've never been there so I can't recommend it, but it looked cool from the website. Scroll through the gallery- the bar looks awesome!
