  1. We stayed at Barcelo La Jolla De Mismaloya which is south of Dreams. I'm not sure if you are looking for a wedding to take place on the beach. If so, this is probably not a good resort for that. We were married at Las Caletas so we didn't get married at the resort. If you plan on having a wedding off resort grounds, this would be a good hotel. It is far from PV, but it is easy enough to ride the public bus into town for 6 pesos (roughly, 60 cents.) We did this for two weeks and it was easy and convenient (the pick up is across the street from the resort.) I liked how far we were from PV too since it seemed to keep the group together more. We did many group trips into town and we all enjoyed each others company. The grounds at the hotel are AMAZING! It was so beautiful. The recently remodeled every room in the resort and they were fabulous. One of my guests received a room that was not quite up to par though (their door was cracked and wires hanging from the wall) and the front desk promptly relocated them to a beautiful room. All 22 guests stayed at the resort and all loved it. The food is good, but it does get monotonous after awhile. We did dinner a few nights in town during our two week stay. I plan on doing a full review of the resort and include some pictures soon. I'm still trying to catch up my laundry. If you have questions about the resort, just let me know.
  2. Congrats Jen! That came quickly! I hope you have a wonderful time and enjoyed every minute!
  3. Tami- seriously try not to stress. As a bride that JUST finished it all, there really is no reason to stress. You don't even notice half of the things the wedding day anyways. You simply enjoy getting married and celebrating with the people you love. All the minor details go unnoticed. I worked last minute like no other to get the wedding programs done- on the wedding day, I didn't even see them, let alone know that people actually had them during the ceremony. I understand the need to want it all perfect but in all honesty, no one even notices the minor details. My ceremony music got TOTALLY screwed up. I could hear them switching through like 4 songs to find my bridal entrance one. Some people didn't even notice- some did, but they said it wasn't that big of a deal. All I could do was laugh. No worries girl. It will be so much fun and all this stress will seem silly in the end. At least it did for me.

Allan was fun to talk to during the day and I would think he would be a good MC for a wedding. Great review though. That sunset picture is to die for. I don't think I saw the sunset the day of the wedding. I didn't even notice it. We may have been eating dinner at that time. The sun didn't set as quickly as I thought it would so all that worrying about daylight was for no reason at all.
  5. So sad I missed you before you left! Have a wonderful time Betsy! Can't wait to hear all about it when you get back. I know you won't even think about your FSIL before the wedding- keep you eye on the prize. hehe
  6. Oh that sucks. So it's just the boob area that won't fit? I would think a fast diet would help- my boobs are always the first to go. I hope it works out- if not, have a pashmina or something to help hide it some. No one will notice- they will be looking at you the whole time! And that's easy enough to hide for pictures.
  7. Yay! Have a wonderful time Trisha. It goes so fast. Just remember to take it all in. And don't sweat the small stuff- really, no one notices. I accidentally burned a small hole in my wedding dress trying to steam it with the hotel's iron. NO ONE NOTICED! I nearly had a small panic attack the day before- but the day of, didn't even think about it. So trust me, nothing is worth the worry.
  8. Oh my goodness. Thank you all so much for the well wishes. We have finally returned home and it was all such a whirlwind. It's unbelievable how fast it all goes by- we spend so much time planning and then poof- it's gone. When it's all said and done, I'm so glad I was chill about the wedding. I didn't worry about a thing and it still turned out magical. I tried to take moments to just breathe and take it all in, but it was so hard. The night went by so fast and I think it's only cause you are in a daze half the time! I was so sick too- I had the worst cold. I had half a voice and my vows were said with a croaky old witch voice. I don't even think Steve noticed- he was too nervous/happy looking. I'll have a review soon- promise! I just got in late last night so I'll try to have one done by this weekend.
  9. Hey girls. I'm back. Whew! What a whirlwind. I'll chime in about the DJ/MC. For us, I gave my ipod to Nicole. She would occasionally run over and switch songs. Like for our first dance, she announced us and cued up the song and then we just the ipod randomly rotate through songs. Surprisingly, some of our people that I considered "dancers" didn't dance much. They all just hung out and talked. We had maybe like 6-7 staple dancers. I would occasionally run over and switch songs if we wanted something else. It really wasn't that big of a deal. There is a new cruise director and I never saw him anywhere other than the boat. I'm not sure if he does the "DJ" role anymore- at least he didn't for us. That wasn't a big deal for us though. I will do a site review soon! I have so much to try to remember. The wedding was over a week ago and so much happened during the trip I'm trying to remember it all. All I can say was that I totally didn't worry about a thing- minor things went wrong, but the guests still left saying it was the most beautiful wedding they have been to. They probably didn't even notice the error.

  11. Thank you everyone for your well wishes. To be honest, the templates I just finalized this last week and printed them all on Friday at work. Then I actually put them together on Saturday and immediately took pictures for you all. haha Nothing like last minute. They aren't very elaborate but at least it looks like I did SOMETHING for the wedding. I'm currently finishing all the music for the boat ride, ceremony, dinner and reception! Yikes. Nearly done, then I can just relax. Again, thanks everyone!
  12. I can't even begin to thank everyone here on BDW for making this wedding planning process so easy and FUN! I have been so calm and I really owe it to this forum! So thank you much! Also, I have the starfish bouquet jewel that was sent to me by PaulaV (thanks Paula!). I will have pictures to add to the journal! I leave on Monday it is just so surreal. All this planning and bookmarking of pages is all over. I can't believe it! And to be honest, I'm so thankful for it to be over. I can't just wait to get married and stop thinking about all the minor details! I can't wait to come back here and be the MRS. that gets to contribute to all the upcoming brides! Again, thank you all so much! Oh and I will be posting my templates on my return. They are all on my work computer so I can't do that before I leave. A HUGE thank you to work for paying me to plan my wedding. hehe
  13. Bracelets I made for moms and my grandma. My flower clip. Flower clips I bought for BMs. Totes I had made for me (I wanted one too!) and my BMs. Ours have margaritas. Yum! Totes I had made for the moms and my hair dresser. She's going and doing my hair for free. Yippee. I wanted theirs different so they have daiquiris. Double yum. JUST EMBROIDERED TOTES I had the totes made here. So easy to work with and I highly recommend her. She added little rhinestones to my tote for free but one fell off. Still, I didn't ask for that so I thought it was a cute touch.
  14. I still have some tasks to complete like LAST minute but here's some items I can share- Thanks Angela for the idea and the cake boxes. Thanks to Sara for her wonderful monogram that I used EVERYWHERE! Welcome Dinner Menus- I won't have menus at the reception because it's a buffet. I decided to spice up the tables at the Welcome Dinner because I'm not sure if they will have any decor. Thanks to Maura for the editing/translating! Programs- Crappy pic but they look just like the menus! Thank you tags that I will be attaching to mini bottles of tequila once we get there. That's our favor for the men. For the women I bought pashminas. I haven't finished wrapping them all up yet. Big thanks to Carly and Trisha for your work with the bulk order! Locket I purchased for MOH. Necklace I made for BM. It's not as beautiful as some made on here- oh well, it was my first time making jewelry!
  15. hahaha Maura. I love the random girl over-share. Why do people assume you want to hear about every detail of their sex life? I'm not a prude, but damn- please don't tell me about dildos and FI's butts. That's hysterical. I was embarrassed when my friend hosted a Pure Romance party for me. I had some not so close friends there- they are more FI's friends and when they talked about what sex toys they liked to use, I couldn't help but get mental images. Thank God for alcohol.
  16. yay! How exciting. I love when we get photos before the bride is even back. Can't wait till OCT!

Some people are crazy. Now you should go promote yours on her website.
  18. I'm happy I nearly have my projects done. One more trip to paperzone and gotta figure out some kind of tags for the favors. Hahah nothing like last minute!

  20. I bought a MAC lip stain for this purpose. I've used it for the past few weeks- I'm not sold on it yet. Plus the stinkin color looks different outside than it does indoors and I'm not fond of how it looks outside. I LOVE Lancome "fever gloss" in sunbaked coral. I always layer it over my lipstick or just wear it alone. Such a pretty color.
  21. Uhh me too Yari. No excuse yet. I saw Carnie on a tv show. I felt so bad for her.
  22. You're welcome. Visuals help! Check occansey.com for veils. I have a light gold dress and I ordered the veil in a dark ivory shimmer. It's a beautiful color too. THey will send you samples for like $1.
