I guess with things like that it doesn't matter how much weight I lose! I got a call this week to schedule my second fitting and her earliest date was in March. After that, my last fitting should hopefully be the week before the wedding for any last minute changes. OK, well that makes sense. I guess will stick with what my salon told me. I only have to have the bustle done and the bust taken in (boobless, ugh).
  3. Is this an "off the rack" from the salon or still straight from the designer? Did you already pay I would totally bring this up b/c if you paid full price for an off-the-rack dress than your alterations should be FREE.
  4. Wow, some of you ladies seem to be starting your fitting awfully early. I checked with the salon a few weeks ago and she said based on our wedding date (April 19) that my first fitting should be the first week in February. Am I waiting too long for fitting #1
  5. Wow, you are cutting it close it seems to me (unless you will be buying off the rack) but perhaps not. I bought my dress over a year ago. lol. Can't wait to see pics!!!!
  6. Can you negotiate with the store to reduce the price of your alterations, or eliminate the alterations cost since they were not able to tell you correctly about the dress availability?
  7. I think that might be about right depending on how much has to be taken in. Those are the two things I need done also and when I got a quote a few months ago it was about $100 for a very minor bust take in and the bustle. I got my veil from discount wedding favors, wedding accessories, personalized favors, communion veils. Just waiting on it to arrive. It's a $420 veil that I got for $121.88.
  8. OMG are you KIDDING? They are AWESOME!!! But, my folks weren't too keen on our STD's or invites at first (heck, they still probably aren;t) but I told them what we were sending things that gave people a sense of the fun and casualness of our DW as oppose to a formal DW. Your FMIL will totally get over it when they start hearing from everyone how cool and original and unique it all is.
  9. it's totally 100% required in the DR to get everything translated both before and after -- that's why we are doing the legal stuff here and just the symbolic ceremony in the DR. it's wwaayy expensive for the legal wedding and translations to do it the DR way (IMHO).
  10. Women's Shoes, Men's Shoes, Kids' Shoes, Handbags - 6PM.com. I love the Caparros. And the prices are great. Also check out Amazon.com: Online Shopping for Electronics, Apparel, Computers, Books, DVDs & more , especially for the wedges.
  11. That's awesome!!! BDW is becoming a household name! lol!!! I'm so glad I found it!!!
  12. no rules. I had 5 BM initially. One recently dropped out. But FH had only 4 GM and it didn't matter to us, but now the numbers evened out. lol. Fewer BM's equal less stress though as far as agreement, etc. I have one friend I wish I asked to be a BM, but instead I'm having her help me with other stuff but still inviting her and her hubby to the rehearsal dinner and giving her the same gift as a BM.
  13. I simply put our wedding website on the invites. The website has a registry tab, but I don't think you should put it directly on the invitations. That usually goes out in shower invites, etc. You shouldn't promote your registry list unless asked IMHO.
  14. I'm curious as to what i can expect from my TA as our DW date draws near. I saw Sheaa's post with the travel info her TA mailed out. But, I am wondering if all TA's or most TA's do this sort of thing. My TA has been great to work with, but I feel ike I am doing a lot of her work for her, when I have plenty to take care of on my own. When a guest contacts her witha question ... she calls me and asks me to explain things to the guest (I have asked all guests NOT to contact me about things since I am busy enough). She email me copies of all the guest invoices(which is nice to have so I know everyone's travel dates) but also asked that I send them out and f/u since our payments are due next week. Anyway -- maybe a lot of this is normal. I don't mind most of it ... but I wish she was doing more of the interacting with the guests instead of always contacting me. Maybe I should be grateful that I am so kept in the loop?
  15. Do most TA's do this? I like my TA a lot but I feel like I am doing a lot her work for her. Like emailing the invoices since fianl payments are due Jan. 15. Contacting guests, etc. I hope our TA does this, but I wonder...
  16. Anytime I purchase online, I do a Google search before checkout that says *website name* promo code ... or key code or whatever kind of code that store has. So, I would Google "Oriental Trading Key Code". just ordered from there 2x in the last week, but don't recall the code. That will work though ... you'll a bunch of hits like DealCatcher: Free Online Coupons Dell, Amazon, Best Buy, Overstock and tons of others.

Isn't Jill the best? She did my BD photos and I LOVED her!!!
  18. We have guests flying in on various days -- some even a few days before we even get there. So, I am mailing out luggage tags and a little "Welcome Booklet" ahead of time. We are having very informal, non-private cocktail "welcome" receptions each night at the Lobby Bar, probably about 7pm. Each night, any newcomers can stop by to grab their OOT bag ... and hopefully some guests who are already at the resort will show back up to meet those who just arrived. This will, of course, be optional, but I'm going to put in the Welcome Letter that we hope everyone will at least stop by so they can pick up their welcome gifts and find out more specifics about the wedding. Anyone who doesn't pick theirs up (b/c the wedding day itinerary will e in it) I suppose we will leave at the front desk and ask that they be called to pick it up.
  19. I can't help you with the resort -- but we are getting married in the DR in April. We just avoided booking during Easter week / Spring Break. Welcome to the forum and HAPPY PLANNING!!!
  20. Alli sounds like what happenes every time I eat alfredo sauce. lol I am lactose intolerant but LOVE Alfredo, so ... you can guess the rest. Anyway -- I think if you work in a regular office environment, it wouldn't be a bad option, especially since you KNOW what you can/can't get away with eating. I am on the road a lot with work, so I don't think it would work good for me. I'm going back to the doctor to see if I can get one last round of a Phentermine prescriptio. It ehlped me, along with working out, lose 20 lbs last winter ... but you can't take it for long b/c its regulated. So, maybe I can get one last prescription to last me through April. I'm calling the doctor now! :-)
  21. I am totally worried about the arm boobage in my dress. Ugh! My trainer knows its a HUGE concern of mine so that is one of the are focusing on during my sessions. I will definitely try the finger trick before walking down the aisle too. Thanks Angela! Hhmm... since your dress doesn't allow for a bra, I don't have any new suggestions ... b/c I am on Mission Impossible right no to find the perfect undergarments for my dress. lol I am also worried about my whole body in a friggin' bathing suit more than I am the wedding dress. But, I know -- and you should too -- that our bodies should be the last thing we worry about once we are at our DW (up until then, I say we are allowed to stress all we want!)
  22. Sarah has some great parasol pics in her wedding too!! I just got mine in the mail yesterday from Oriental Trading. They are a bit small but I can't complain a bit for the price!
  23. Technically, the makeover is "free" but it's on the stipulation that you will be making a purchase afterwards. (It's $40 minimum purchase at the Belk where our MAC counter is). I just emailed my sis earlier today to ask if she wants to come up for my first dress fitting anf then we'll go get makeovers. She doesn't have $$ for makeup but I figure I'll be spending at least $80 anyway, so we might as well both get makeovers. Plus, if we wear any of the same colors, I can help her with makeup on the wedding day. I LOVE MAC!!!
  24. Anyone putting the sixpence in their shoe for wealth? I saw this on Catherine & Will's slideshow and immediately went and bought one. I need all the help I can get wealth-wise. lol. Just curious who else is doing this. I just bought mine for $10.60 w/ shipping from Wedding SixPence - Six Pence and Penny. I'm sure it's cheaper somewhere else but I didn't feel like bargain hunting this time. SOMETHING OLD, SOMETHING, NEW, SOMETHING BORROWED, SOMETHING BLUE ... AND A SIXPENCE IN HER SHOE.
  25. Great pics, as always, Jill!!! Love the shower shot! How totally cute! The TTD shots are adorable! YOu can tell Catherine is a hoot! The wedding day pics are gorgeous! I love the one with Will in his room with the hat on -- and Catherine is just all around so adorable and bubbly. And, without question, Jill, your talent shines through!!!
