  1. My photographers are staying at this resort. It is next door to our DW resort but was more in the price range that she wanted and now she can stay for 5 days instead of 3. They will just have to get day passes to get in to shoot the wedding and for the TTD shoot the following day. I don't know much about his resort, but it sounds great!
  2. FYI -- I just found out that most resorts checke employees before they leave each day to ensure they are not stealing any items from guest rooms. So, if you are leaving a gift -- you should also leave a note that read "Regalo" (gift) with a list of the items you are giving, your name and room # to avoid the employees being questioned for stealing. I had no idea about this but there is a whole thread on it in another DR forum. No note required for cash tips, but recommended/required for non-monetary gifts.
  3. Do most resorts have hair dryers included in the room? I wasn hoping not to have to take my hair dryer...
  4. I think they looks great. I would use a darker brown for the font to make it stand out more, but it's great! I nee to learn how to do that kind of stuff! What program are you doing it in?
  5. Just ordered mine. Thanks for the link. One more thing to check off the list!
  6. Yep, I think that decision is made. Just the coconut aisle! Thanks ladies!!!

  8. Totally, luckily your MOH got the dress and not a BM. They will totally complement each other. BTW -- I got Tom's shirt in and it is SSSSOOOO awesome! You will love that for FH or GM!!!
  9. CONGRATS! and WELCOME! We are here to help! Good luck and happy planning! Let us know how we can help you find your destination and make your dream wedding come true!!!
  10. So, my extended family (aunts, great aunts, blah blah blah) have been asking my Mo if there is going to be a shower for me at home (DC/MD area). So, Mom called yesterday and asked if I could fly up one weekend. Turns out there are great prices on AirTran, so I was able to book a flight. So, they are going to do a little shower and I still have a few friends in the area who can come too. But FMIL asked that all of her friends/family from the NY/NJ area who are on our DW/AHR guest list to be invited too. Is this normal protocol? FMIL won't be able to make this shower (they retired to Hilton Head SC) and she says no one will probably come anyway. It just seems weird to have my family invite all these people who they don't know -- but maybe this is normal? I guess it's different since neither of us live near our families anymore and so he hasn't met my extended family and mine have yet to meet his.
  11. I wouold just send them as is. I'm sure they will understand/figure out why there is no postage on it. And if they are the people who don't RSVp anyway, then you didn't waste all the money on stamps that I evidently did! lol

BUmmer, you can see if Jill will put together a slideshow of some of your "allowable" shots and post on here for you. That's what she did for me. :-)
  13. I had never heard/thought of that ... but very cute what Angela found! That actually might be a good idea to stick a handkerchief underneath so it stays put until you need it!
  14. Gorgeous!! My Mom and Dad are moving to their retirement beach home, so cleaning out the house. Mom used to be a belly dancer. lol. Well, she has these similar barefoot sandals that are handmade with these beautiful different colored bright beads. I am going to try to post pics, but they are up for grabs if anyone wants them. Not as formal and elegant as the ones available today, but definitely funky and nostaglic.
  15. Here is what we've got for the Dad's. GM are wearing this:
  16. They all look great, I'm partial to #2 and #6. My only suggestion, but perhaps you prefer not to, is to add your DW locale to the logo.
  17. You have a Master of Ceremonie at the Symbolic (appears just like a legal judge to guests) and at our resort the MofC is $400 as opposed to $750 for the judge. I'm heading out for a dr's appointment but there are a few GREAT threads about this already on here if you can do a search for "symbolic."

I was Jill's "first" but didn't have a woory in the world. She rocked!
  19. I think I got a bum deal. I was referred to a TA ... but that TA directed me to the one I am dealing with now, because she has been to the DR and speaks fluent Spanish, which can help with negotiating with the resort. However, Spanish is more her first language so there is a bit of a language barrier with some of my guests. I have gotten past it and we communicate just fine, but I think it's just easier for guests to ask me b/c she can be a bit difficult to understand at times. I am probably a little too blame b/c I have let her put some of this one me, not knowing what I should and should not be responsible for -- but she is a Leisure Travel Agent and has done DW before, so I would think things would run a little more smoothly. She called not long ago to say that our honeymoon resort was oversold so we would have to book elsewhere. So, I called the 1-800 # and booked us into the room we wanted (at a bit of a higher price than expected and after a lot of question asking b/c initially they "didn't have any rooms left"). I am glad that I am doing all of the negotiataions with our WC for the ceremony and reception.
  20. It's $100 for the coconut aisle ... so I think that's enough to keep it simple and not take away from FH and I during the ceremony. What do you think? Or do you think some kind of tulle might be a nice touch?
  21. I think we might do this coconut aisle and leave the gazebo plain.
  22. They would provide the tulle and do all the decorating for me ... but they haven't done the gazebo that way yet so there are no pics to show.
