Paradisus Punta Cana Wedding Pics/July 2007
foxytv replied to foxytv's topic in Destination Weddings in Dominican Republic
That link might be dead now. I think they just had it up for a limited time. Sorry... :-( -
Anyone got any creative Ideas? As far as cheap stuff ... I am adding 2008 pocket calendars from Oriental Trading (flip flop covers) and AVON flip flop/hibiscuc emery boards (less than $0.50 each). We are makinmemade starfish and flip-flop soaps from candy molds ... and individual packets of Imodium, Advil, Pepto, sunscreen,wet-naps, etc. Also, how should I give them out? Can the maids put them in the rooms? Will the front desk give them out? Will Chandyn handle it (probalbly not from what I read in the forum, lol)? Everyones arriving on different days so I'm not sure how to handle it. I just don't want to be in charge of it! We are having informal cocktail receptions each night, just at the lobby bar, and handing them out to the new arrivals that way.

My Travel Mugs Are Here!
foxytv replied to TATrisha's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
They turned out great! Free gift boxes? Lucky dog! I paid for mine! -
So I had to get a little nasty with Discountmugs - Coffee Mugs, Travel Mugs, Water Bottles, Promotional Pens, Glassware, Commemorative Plates, Tiles & Promotional Items b/c I hadn't heard anything back despite my initial complaint and f/u with Customer Service about my dis-satisfaction with my travel mugs for the OOT bags in almost a week. However, after yesterday's unpleasant email from me, I finally got a response today, saying they are going to totally redo them, using a different mug style to ensure the logo is the correct size. So, this is the mug they will be resending me. This is the mug I originally ordered (we wanted a handle) but the logo was just ssoo small AND after closer inspection, more than half of the mugs don't have secure lids, so even if the logo had been the right size, the mugs still would have been defective. I love our original mug style -- but am so glad they fianlly got back to me and are redoing them for me, even if it is a different mug style. My faith in the company has been restored -- and now I will have a TON of extra mugs if anyone wants one of our DW souvenirs. lol. I guess we can just use them for the AHR, even if the lids aren't all secure like they should be.

One thing to consider, although I have no idea how it works in Canada ... We are using a Notary to do the ''legal' stuff. This will not be a ceremony b/c e want only one ceremony. And we will not be exchanging rings or vows, because again, we want our DR wedding to be the first and only time we do all of these things. We will simply be signing the marriage certificate and she will notarize it and get it filed for us while we are gone. So, we are not having two ceremonies. We literally are only signing the papers before we go. Our DW will be considered our 'real' wedding date for us -- and our vows will be said for the first time, rand rings exchanged, during that ceremony.

Great site for great prices on kids (boys and girls) REEF and COBIAN sandals and flip-flops. They are $9.95. Kids, Children, Toddler Sandals and Flip Flops REEF Cobian Skechers Old Maui Surf - Paradise Clothing Company There are also some great spaghetti strap short dresses on here too that I am going to get for the DW/HM -- but the kids sandals prices (I thought) are fabulous!

Give us more detail? Is this a vow renewal DW ceremony after a stateside legal ceremony or have you been married for a while and simply doing the more 'traditional' renewal of vows?

Website to find a BM dress for less?
foxytv replied to rodent's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
Yeah, the free shipping is huge -- and it's the only dress site for BM's I've found that offers it on single dress orders. Good Luck! All my BM's got their dresses in less time than quoted (a few weeks early for everyone) and are very happy with the results! -

My BM's got their dresses through 2008 Prom Dresses - Wedding Dresses - Bridemaids - Mother of the Bride Gowns. It was less expensive than any of the other online bridal stores I checked (and I checked a lot) AND it was free shipping for each BM (a lot of the others only provided free shipping if it was a bulk order and everything was delivered to one address. Also -- my BM's got an additional 10% off b/c I registered with the site but didn't purchase during my visit -- and they emailed me a coupon code that worked for everyone. So, I say browse and see if they have what you need, register, and then wait a day or two. I suspect you will get an email coupon code (b/c it said something like "we noticed you visited our site but didn't make a purchase, blah blah, here's a coupon code good for 10% off..." -
After researching the legalities, length of time to get originals, and cost -- we decided to do a vow renewal and sign our legal documents before we leave for the DR. However, if I were to do the legal ceremny in the DR, I likely would have used WeDo, for simplicity reasons. I think we figured about $1150 for the paperwork and judge. It can also take several months to get the original paperwork back -- and in the US, most companies only allot 30-days from a "life changing" experience (marriage/birth of child/etc) to be added onto insurance w/o having to worry about "open enrollments" or pre-existing conditions. it was just wwaayy easier and makes more sense for us to do the legal stuff beforehand, since I definitely want to switch to his military insurance once we are married.
