  1. Just get ground turkey at the store instead of pre-formed patties. They are cheaper and will taste better when you add your own stuff. My suggestions: Diced onions and garlic, ground cumin, ground pepper, basil, one egg (beaten), dash of Worcestershire. Mix well w/ ground turkey and cook to desired temperature.
  2. These are my shoes for the ceremony. And I have some wedge thongs for the reception, but will likely end up barefoot.
  3. Welcome from another DR bride! Congrats and let me know if you need any help!
  4. Very nice! Great job! How to attach them? Have you seen th luggage tags from Oriental Trading? That's what I got and they are perfect.
  5. That's awesome! Love it all. So glad you added the currency conversion -- as I had no idea what the USD$ of a Yen was worth. lol
  6. Once we decided on Punta Cana, I gathered up travel brochures from several travel agencies and looked at all of the area resorts. I marked any resort that I liked -- regardless of price. Then, I went back and weeded through those based on prices ... and began digging into the wedding packages and options. Once I had it down to three, F picked his top two ... and we decided on the most expensive of the choices for our Honeymoon and lesser expensive one for the DW. Hope that helps!
  7. Sure! Once we see who can do it and when -- then I can hopefully commit. April is coming upon us quick -- but if I am free whenever the date is, I'll be there!!!
  8. My Mom is a little bigger and self-concious ... so she is concerned about what to wear. FMIL is a tiny little ball of fire that will almost certainly wear some cute little dress that I will be jealous of. lol. They are both very different, with very different styles. AnnR, my Mom would love to wear what your Mom wore, I love it too ... but I know she won't be/c she wil want to be more dressy to match FMIL. I wish she would just go with comfort instead, but I really don't care what she wears, cos she will looks great regardless! Keep this thread going though b/c I want to show it to my Mom when I go visit for my shower next month -- to she her she can really get away with absolutely anything she is comfortable in!
  9. we will be at PPC April 16-21. Heading to PPR April 21-27. What time are you arriving on the 21st? We will be checking out late.

Jessica paradisuspalmareal.shutterfly.com awesome pics! can't wait to hear more about your visit -- and really can't wait for my April honeymoon at PPR!!!

Thanks! I will definitely check it out!!!

Ann, I think you should to! lol. I'm making my weekend casserole tomorrow. Mix together spicy breakfast sausage (cooked of course), eggs, milk, fresh herbs, salt & pepper, spinach if you have it, and low-fat cheese (basically whatever is left in the fridge, lol). Mix and pour over sliced potatoes, which I use to line the bottom of the pan. Bake at 375 until firm and bubbly. Yum-o! If you want to be bad, add some mascarpone cheese in addition to your other cheese. OMG!

I know before i chose a resort I wanted to look over menus, it's nice to see your options before making a decision. The Chill Out Menu is for just an appetizer reception, if I remember correctly, so it looks okay for that purpose. The Beach BBQ options look great. I actually like that one the best! The Wedding Buffet is pretty well-rounded too. The sit down menu is a bit limited, since you have to pick onl one of each course and everyone must eat the same thing -- but I like that there is a Surf-N-Turf option. Our sit-down menus at PPC don't have that option, so we chose lobster and hope no one at the Rehearsal Dinner complains (although I know one of my BM's is really picky, so I know she won't eat it but she probably wouldn't have liked any of the options...)
  15. Yes, for a sit down dinner you have to choose one from each section ... which makes it hard. We are only doing this for our rehearsal dinner -- and going with lobster as the main course. Anyone who doesn't like it will have to grab something to eat at the buffet or something after b/c that's the only option we had -- or no rehearsal dinner at all.
  16. Our photographers chose to stay at the resort next door. I presume to save money and allow them to stay a few extra nights. It's going to make it more difficult to communicate with them ahead of time, but we will do what we can. The day passes are $95 for 10am-6pm and $95 for $6pm-12am at our resort. Which means they will each need 2 passes for the wedding day, 1 each for the Rehearsal Dinner and 1 each for our day after TTD session. That's a LOT of extra money!! So, I am trying to negotiate with our WC ... but they know they are responsible for the day passes -- although we will likely cover the passes for the Rehearsal Dinner.
  17. Do the people using their timeshares have a problem w/ the day pass fee? It's exceptionally common for any AI resort to require one if you aren't staying there. I don't necessarily agree w/ it for a wedding when you are already paying for the ceremony and reception separate anyway ... but c'est la vie. I am getting married at PPC and the day passes are $95 ... room rates are a bit lower too (we are honeymoning at PPR). Can you offer to pay for 1/2 the cost of the day pass for people?
  18. Here are the spa and salon prices for PPC. $65 for wedding day hair? Does that sound about right? $35 for make-up? That actually sounds a little inexpensive to me? spa.pdf
  19. Check with AAA Vacations in your area. Or check around with numerous TA's to see who specializes in the DR. Or just have your guests book on their own.
  20. Just got mine in the mail yesterday and they are great! Can't wait to print out the iron-on transfers and see the end result!!!

Quick and easy. I usually just grab a banana for me though! Interesting -- but sounds pretty fast and easy. Don't you love those Home Ec tips?? lol Quote: Originally Posted by starchild Holy shit Tami...I'm literally salivating. Do you know how good that sounds? Down here it's Sausage Gravy. I like that too ... but LOVE me some Chipped Beef over toast w/ hashbrowns for breakfast! But oh yeah, the crew on each shift at the WH near my house all know me by name! It's like I'm walking into Cheers. Scary, huh?
  22. I was going to suggest the cupcake tower (we're doing that for our AHR) ... but I love the individual cake idea too. For those few guests, Ithink either route would work beautifully.
  23. Ours will be about a month after we get back from our DW. We are doing a very casual AHR on the rooftop deck of the bar/restaurant that FH owns. I will wear my dress ... but it's otherwise not a dressy affair. We ae having a low country boil and open bar ... as well as a band that will play on the deck. Not sure if there will be dancing but we aren't planning a first dance or any of that. Hopefully we'll have a slideshow of pics we can show from our photog ... but at the very least ... a slideshow of pics from DW guests. It's going to be an afternoon AHR (2-6pm) and then let everyone enjoy the city that evening. We will meet for brunch the following day for any out of towners who want to join us.
