This is the place to talk about what it's like to be married/engaged to a military man ... how you cope, etc... I'll start: My DH is in the Army Reserves. Has been for 17 years and is currently a Major preparing for Lt. Colonel. He deployed to Iraq a week after we got engaged and was gone for 14-months. He got back in August 2007 and we were married in April 2008. Now, he is gone for live-fire training, etc for 3 weeks and then for another 3-weeks for Lt. Col. prep classes. His not being here for almost 2 months has me remembering when he was deployed last time and not looking forward to April 2010 when we begins pre-deployment for another 14-month tour. I am very independent and usually enjoy time on my own ... and I am used to it, b/c DH's regular FT job also requires him to travel, so he is usually gone 1-2 nights a week regardless. I guess I am just not enjoying being alone so much anymore. I know there are at least a few other military brides/wives out there. How are things for you

Any wines that say that they are "sulfate free" are one of two things. 1) not completely sulfate free - they will have small amounts of sulfates but the amounts are low enough that theya re allowed to label their wine as such 2) going to go bad as soon as or even before you open them. Sulfates are a natural preservative in wine, and without it, the wine starts to turn (vinegar smell/taste) almost immediately. And, most people do not get headaches directly from the sulfates. If you find you get a headache from a favorite wine you can check the alcohol content. You may need to find a similar wine with a lower alcohol content. Also, try different varietals. Or drink less. Seriously, so many people complain about sulfates giving them 'wine headaches' after they've drank glass after glass all night long. That's oftentimes simply called a hangover, lol.

Married Ladies and Long-Time Members...Check in Here
foxytv replied to ErinB's topic in Chit Chat Corner!
I thought I had posted in this thread some time ago, but I guess I am losing my mind now that I am married! I LOVED planning our DW and wish we could do it all over again. I had so much fun with all the DIY stuff I learned about on here and wish I had had more time to perfect things, so I can't wait til I can plan another party!!!! We have been TTC since the wedding ... and have moved on to fertility treatments. We sold our house and close on it July 31, so we will be moving all next month and into early August. DH is preparing to head back overseas (right now to Iraq) next year. He should head to Ft. Bliss for pre-deployment in April 2010 and then overseas in July 2010. He'll be gone for 14 months as it stands now. So, between now and then, we are trying to make babies and will be getting settled in our new home (same area, just different neighborhood!). -
Ah, Jaime, I can totally relate! DH is in the Army too. He has 17 years in, so once he gets back from his next stint in Iraq, it'll be about time to retire. He is in the Reserves, but is a Major now so he is pretty active and busy with that, as well as his regular FT job. Hopefully the time will go by fast for you! Has he been deployed before since you guys have been together?

I wish I could find the inspiration pic that I used for my tattoo. I have a "tramp stamp" so will have to try to get a pic of it. I love it, but won't be getting anymore... Jaime - I love the wedding band tattoo idea - but OUCH, I can only imagine it would be brutal!
-
PS - Jaime ... I am a military wife as well. How long is Brandon deployed for? I know how hard it is. If you ever need to vent - just let me know! My DH left for Iraq a week after we got engaged and was in Iraq for 14 months. He goes back in April 2010 ... and is currently in training til mid-July. UGH....

weather in dr?
foxytv replied to jerzshortstuff's topic in Destination Weddings in Dominican Republic
Also this is a great site for DR brides exclusively: Debbie's Dominican Republic Travel Pages - Dominican Republic Hotels and Resorts, weddings, tours and holiday Info I'd stay away from Sept/Oct. We were married in April and not only was the weather great - so were the rates. (as long as you avoid dates around Easter and Passover). -
Confirmed Dates and Prices! EXCITED !

KatyKo's Planning Thread :)
foxytv replied to KatyKo's topic in Destination Wedding Planning Journal
Love all this planning! You have done so much! And I remember when you had your BD pics done b/c I had spoken to Amy about doing my DW, but didn't end up ever meetign with her and actually had a photo from Charlotte! Gosh your big day is almost here - but it sure looks like you are prepared! One quick word of advice about the door hang tags - we and another wedding at our resort had things stolen from the guests rooms during the ceremony/reception (pretty sure it was resort employees). Those tags might help point out who isn't in their room when the wedding is underway. Just a thought... Can hardly wait to see your pics!!!!! Have a wonderful time!!!! -

Sometimes we give to much and it would be nice to feel like people appreciate us ... or would acknowledge the things going on in our lives.

Bringing Flowers vs Buying there
foxytv replied to msmoodyr's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
I love having my bouquet on display at our house now, as well as the BM bouquets. I am ssoo glad that we did Natural Touch flowers. The expense for real flowers I thought was too much for them to die after the wedding. This way, we have a keepsake and I love looking at my beautiful flowers! We actually didn't use any other flowers for centerpieces, etc. Instead, we used shells and sand and candles, etc. -
