  1. Tough call , my dear! I'm not usually a lace gal, but I love the lace on that Watters dress. the Adele seems plain, but you mentioned that we can't see all the detailing... Looks like the polls are neck and neck right now!!
  2. So, I have a Matron of Honor and 3 BM's. I don't have a Maid of Honor (yet). My Matron of Honor is my closest friend from when I lived in WV. My BM's are my sister, my future sister-in-law and a local friend. My sister and I have never been really close so I chose not to make her my Maid of Honor and simply not have one. However, through the wedding planning process, my sister has really stepped up and helped me out and done whatever possible to make this wedding memorable for me. And since we have never been very close (she's my little sis, 5 years younger), I really expected very little of her. But, not counting my sis, virtually every single one of my BM's has been a total, major letdown (except for FSIL who lives far away but would do anything she could if it were possible) -- and given the chance to do it over ... I would have as my BM's only my sister, FSIL, and a high school friend who is now planning my bachelorette party b/c neither of the other BM's stepped up to the plate to do it. Anyway, my sister just hosted a shower for me this past weekend in MD (I am in SC and she is in GA) and she is also helping with the local SC shower, and the bachelorette party in NC (and she doesn't make a whole lot of money, but works a TON of hours, so she is limited in many ways). It's really made me see how important family is and how we (I) take them for granted too often. So, I would like to call her my Maid of Honor ... but am trying to figure out how to do it. It would be no other 'duties' for her, it's more of a 'thank you' gesture for everything she has been doing to help me. I have my first dress fitting tomorrow evening and she is driving up from GA to go with me and then we are going to MAC for our makeovers and then working on DIY stuff tomorrow night. So I would like to bring it up during her visit ... but want to think of a simple, but special way to do so. I can just give her a card and write in it how much I appreciate all she's done, blah blah and say I am glad I didn't 'appoint' anyone to be the MOH, b/c there is no one I would rather have in that position than her ... but any other ideas would be great!!!
  3. The absolute BEST gift we've received so far is something you could never put on a registry or even imagine getting. It's an old family photo that is preserved and framed for us of my Dad's side of the family from 1939. (My great-grandfather, who I never met, my great grandma (Mutzi) at 41, my grandfather (Pop-Pop) at 16, and great uncles/aunts at their various ages ... all in front of Mutzi's farmhouse.) It's an awesome picture and it's from my great-aunt Barbara. She and her husband (my Pop-Pop's little brother) are coming to the wedding. They are in their 70's but travel a lot and Uncle Paul is going to read our Hand Ceremony. I just love that gift and hope to be able to give something so precious to a family member of mine down the road sometime.
  4. Awesome. Thanks Morgan. YOu are the DIY AND BARGAIN HUNTER Queen! (I thought I had bargain shopping in the bag, lol -- but you've got me beat!!!)
  5. Absolutely great pics! Love them! I'm glad all went so well with Robin and that everything turned out so PERFECT!!!!
  6. They used to be resort photographers (Sunscape the Beach, I think -- which is now Dreams) so I am sure they have plenty more they could show you. I'd email them and ask for a file with more of a portfolio for you to see.

Our reception is in the marino restaurant- the linens she is charging me- I just printed out the invoice that she sent. Our reception is 50.00 a person but that includes open bar too What is she charging for the linens? Our beach reception cost is a flat $2500 for 3-hours ... but I am sure there will be 'extras' that we aren't aware of...
  9. Just found this site and right now the light blue organza favor bags are 9-cents each or 54-cents per 6-pack. You still have to pay shipping but that's an awesome deal! POUCHMART HomePage - POUCHMART 3 x 4 Light Blue Organza Bag - Pack of 6 - POUCHMART

I was told that if I brought my own iPod connectors, that I could have the speaker/CD/microphone set-up just attach the iPod for no additional cost. Isn't the DJ $200/hour with a minimum number of hours required? I think we need to make sure we print out all of our emails with the pricing to ensure the price doesn't change when it comes time to pay. I'm waiting to hear back about EXACTLY what is included with the beach reception set-up. is there ANY centerpiece included or is everything additional unless we bring our own? And the price for accent colors on the table linens. I'll let you know when I hear back, but if you already have these questions answered, let me know!

  13. Love them! If I could embroidered/screen print on them, I'd use those for my BM gift bags! Love them!! Maybe I could get those for the Mom's...

My Mom is going to help me put together everything for the OOT bags when we get there. We will either do it all in one sitting or a few each day, since we have people coming in on different days and are having a welcome reception for the "newbies' each evening. At least we won't have to do them all at once if it's too time consuming.

  16. I just had my first shower, and got several gift cards (which is preferred by us b/c we have most everything). We registered at Bed, Bath & Beyond, Macy's, and Home Depot in addition to a Honeymoon Registry. I got mostly kitchen stuff at this most recent shower, and sicne I love to cook -- it's all perfect. :-) Honestly though, the honeymoon registry is the most useful to us.
  17. This is PERFECT Morgan! I bought 3 large bottles of generic Immodium and I was going to put them in those tiny little ziploc bags (like the ones spare buttons come in when you buy a suit) but this is ssoo much cuter! Thanks so much for sharing it -- and the template! Stolen it already!!!
  18. I was telling the guests at my shower this weekend at my Mom and Dad's house about the TTD. And all of the guests (except for 3) were over the age of 50 -- most 70-91 actually, much OLDER relatives ... and they all thought it was a really neat idea. Now, I did explain that I got my TTD dress off eBay, but regardless, they liked the idea. I explained it to them as a way to get sexy and elegant pictures in setting that you would be unable to achieve on our actual wedding day, hence we are doing ours the day after. I think the lady who 'wrote' that article is just looking to get a rise out of people.
  19. Wow .. I love it all! Geez it makes me realize I have ssoo much left to do!!! I love how your hang tags say "cool" "warm" "dry", etc. Too cute!!!

But it could be b/c my wedding date is coming up sooner than yours? Hhmmm ... Let me know what you need. I think I've posted everything on here, but if you don't see something, PM me! How much of a deposit are you giving her? I told her I shouldn't have to put down a deposit since we already had so many rooms booked through our TA, so she waived the deposit.
  21. I'm not getting married at Dreams, but I would think there would be different package options. Included in our beach reception is a buffett and open bar (3 hours) for $2500. We are also doing a private bar 1/2 before and 1/2 hour after the ceremony right next to the gazebo. That is priced per person/per hour.
  22. I told FI and my Mom about the fans and they LOVE that we will have them (Mom is all about the parasols too). I'm not thinking it will be too hot in April, but just in case! We are going to put them on each chair at the ceremony site.
  23. Here is a link to a gallery of photos from the WC at Paradisus Punta Cana. It's a new link with almost all new photos. http://picasaweb.google.com/romancebyparadisuspuntacana It has several different galleries with flower options, reception options, ceremony options, cake choices ... and some extras (fireworks, fire dancers, horse & carriage, private boat). Fabulous for any of us PPC brides, but also great for any other brides to get soem ideas. She also says the cigar rollers (which we will have for our reception) costs only $10/person ... so that is more reasonable than hiring a cigar roller direct from one of the local cigar factories (those priced at about $250 flat fee plus $8/cigar).
  24. Great list Becks! Wow, those are a LOT of songs!! I had my Mom listen to the 50 First Dates version of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" this weekend, and told her I was walking down the aisle to it -- she loves it ... and she mentioned that it sounds a little like Don Ho's "Tiny Bubbles" which they played when she and my Dad left the church and had everyone blow bubbles. So, now I am going to add "Tiny Bubbles" to our playlist asb well, although I think we will forego the actual bubbles! :-)
