I like it but I've tried dresses like that, which can be worn different ways, and it is NOT as easy as it looks to get those darn things to look good like they do on the models. I would definitely make sure they try it on and are comfortable with making it 'fit' in the style they want. Maybe I am just not crafty enough. lol

First Dress Fitting (w/pics)
foxytv replied to foxytv's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
Thank you ladies!!!! I'm still not happy w/ the upper body area -- but there is still time to work on that I guess. My sister, SIL and aunt hosted a bridal shower for me at my Mom and Dad's house in MD this past weekend. It was mostly my elderly relatives who came, but ti was really nice b/c so many of them I hadn't seen in years and they are as old as 91 so it's likely this could be one of our last 'girls' get-togethers for the family. And most of my "aunts" are actually my Dad's aunts ... that's why they are so much older. :-) In any case, not too much in the way of exciting photos, but I know you love pics, so I thought I would share. :-) I got lots of kitchen stuff (CorningWare, mixing bowls, large measuring bowls, palm tree cheese spreaders, beautiful cherry wood salad bowl and the matching wooden forks which matches our kitchen's cherry wood perfectly), $$ for the honeymoon from our registry, bath towels, gift cards from Macy's BB&B and Home Depot, matching "just married" flip flops, fondue set ... I know I'm leaving some things out but I can't think ... and a "Sex for Dummies" book from my uncle. lol Oh -- and my favorite gift -- a BW photo from 1939 of my Great grandparents and their kids in front of their farmhouse. I'll have to take and post a pic of it. It's awesome! I wish they had taken some pics of the decorations and favor bags. It was all a red and silver hearts theme -- since it was so close to Valentines Day. It was really cute. And my SIL made a heart-shaped cake that was gorgeous! My Aunt Lollie (she's 91), my Mom, and Aunt Margaret My nephews (Tyler & Evan) opening gifts I brought for them -- their RingBearer outfits. (thats my SIL and BFF from high school in the background) Aunt Sharon, my cousin's prego wife Sandra, and Mom's good friend Brenda Me opening gifts Aunt Barbara (she and Uncle Paul are coming to the DW) and Aunt Alma

Everything went very smooth last night ... and I couldn't be happier with the price tag -- $45!!! The only thing they have to do is the bustle. The dress was a little snug when I bought it last January ... but it still fit okay. I've lost weight since then ... and when I go back in mid-March ... we will decide then (based on the hope that I lose a little more) if we will take it in at the bust a little bit. There is a small gap right now, but I am going to get some gel boobs to add to my bra and see if that does the trick. If not, I think I will have her take in the bust just a small bit -- but I still have that armpit fat that is so gross ... but I guess there is not much to be done about that except keep working out. My trainer is focusing on that area for me ... but it doesn't seem to be doing much good. I think the bra just pushes it up and over. lol. Anyway ... here are some pics. Excuse me looking icky. I just twisted my hair up to try on the veil. And these pics are all what it will look like bustled.

Wow, I'm just getting up to speed on this thread. That's crazy stuff. I can only imagine that it would be quite painful! My Mom doesn't have problems with her legs, but she was born with a club foot and now her feet are 2 sizes different, which makes shoe buying difficult. Her Mom used to buy two pairs, one to fiize ... but Mom just makes sure she either buys lace-up tennis shoes or sling backs where she can adjust the fit. My SIL must have hip alignment issues, or truly different length legs b/c she walks a little odd, as if there is a leg height difference ... but now I wonder as well if it's an alignment issue...

decorating a gazebo with paper lanterns
foxytv replied to Agape Gems's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
I was trying to think of alternatives to flowers for the gazebo as well ... but I think Karma might be right about them not looking as good during the day as they would if they were lit up at night. I just can't picture it for some reason. But, it's all in the design, so it would totally depend on how you set it up. I'm just not creative like that. Is there any type of generic gazebo anywhere in your town where you could do a mock-up to get an idea of how it might look? -
so i finally ordered my dress...

Beautiful! I wish I had your chest problems. lol. -
lol, even WITH a bridal party, I've had little help in this area! My sister is taking care of the showers though. I started the planning of my own bachelorette party, b/c the BM's that said they were going to plan it never got around to it. So, I sent out 'feelers' to see which dates would work best for people and I had a good friend from back home step up and ask to take it over for me. So, perhaps if you send out the 'feelers' someone will (rightfully so) say "hey! why are you planning your own bachelorette party? let me take over for you!" like my friend did. they might not know that noone has stepped up to do it for you.

I have a bridal shower on march 1st ... but I'm still up in the air about the 23rd anyway. Hope to catch everyone next time around, though, for sure!!

I will look into this eyelash curler! I have been using ReviaLash, based on recommendations from my hair stylist and others at her salon. It says that it takes 90-days to see maximum results. I have been using it for just over 30 days and I can see visibly longer lashes. I don't see any change in volume yet, but I'm guessing that will happen when I get closer to the 90-day mark. In any case, the length is a HUGE difference already -- but I definitely need an eyelash curler to add to the definition! I'm impressed with RevitaLash so far though!

Beautiful, Beautiful, Beautiful! I LOVE it! I onyl took mine off once -- and it was stolen. So, my suggestion is NEVER to take it off unless you have a very SECURE place to keep it. My CZ replacement e-ring I even keep on at all times and once we say "I DO" the wedding band will never come off (except to clean it or when I'm making meatloaf! haha)!

Bought my dress yesterday!
foxytv replied to sn2bski's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
I think a birdcage veil would look great with this dress! it's a trendy dress and something different and hip will add to it's unique style. Love it!!! -
I know EXACTLY what you mean. I am 34 now, so grays are to be expected, but my Mom had almost a full head of gray at 18 -- and I am not far behind her. I have to get my hair highlighted regularly, but they still can't get all the grays covered. And I even use the touch-up root color in between because the grays become so visible so fast. my hair coloring before the wedding will be just a few days before we leave ... so hopefully not too much will 'pop up' within a weeks time. lol I HATE the grays -- but sometimes I still get carded for beer and cigs (yeah!) so I guess they aren't too bad when they serve as that mark of maturity. And I think it adds cerdibility on the job, believe it or not. Especially in sales, when you look a little younger but they see the grays and think 'wow, she must be older than she looks' ... (although I think I look my age).

"Upgrading" BM to MOH (long, sorry...)

I think she would be thankful for the gesture. So sweet. No kidding, Carly! Thanks! I think part of her doing so much is b/c she knows about all the other BS that has been going on. But that just goes to show even more how the people who *should* mean the most to you will step up to the plate when others let you down. -

Thanks so much ladies. This is going to be tough b/c we really have never been very close ... but I agree that it is important for me to tell her how much it means to me. Maybe this will help get us where we need to be as sisters. -
Love this! Great choices for the winners. I left a few of the voting options blank, but now looking at the winners it was a no brainer for so many!

Awesome Soap for OOT bags
foxytv replied to amandalovesryan's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
I bought candy molds shaped as flip flops and starfish and we are making our own soaps, to save money. but these are very cute! Maybe we can add some charms to ours as well! -
lol. fun fun fun. I'm doing this now! Wish I had computer access this weekend -- I could have had more time to think on it!
